Bug#562912: /usr/bin/querybts: Error retrieving report #562904
Hello Dan, thanks for your report. On Tue, Dec 29, 2009 at 07:39, Dan Greene dan-gre...@wi.rr.com wrote: Package: reportbug Version: 4.9 Severity: normal File: /usr/bin/querybts When trying to retrieve bug report #562904, the following happened: $ querybts 562904 ... foundpackage = info[1][0].split('Package: ')[1].split('\n')[0] IndexError: list index out of range The problem is that the reporter of 562904 used a non-standard way of specifying the package affected by the bug (because he didn't use reportbug): package: adonthell instead of Package: adonthell as defined here: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting . I'll run a check on the bts archives to check how many occurrences of such wrong pseudo-headers are there: if it's just one bug, I'll try to fix it, else I'll implement a case-insensitive split in reportbug. Bug#562915: make PID file world readable
Package: hal Version: 0.5.14-1 Severity: wishlist Please consider making the PID file /var/run/hald/hald.pid world readable. The file itself is, but the directory it is in is not accessible by the world. The PID file doesn't contain anything secret, AFAICT, and making it accessible would allow checking the status of the service without root access. Perhaps the PID file could simply be moved to /var/run/. I don't know if the directory /var/run/hald/ is used for anything else. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#562849: texlive-luatex: luainputenc incompatible with LuaTeX in debian
Norbert Preining a écrit : I was thinking about creating a debian package lualatex-modules (or similar) that contains: luatextra luamplib luainputenc luaotfload luafontspec or even single package for all five of them. This way we can update them more easily ... I think it's a good idea! The thing is fontspec will be common for LuaTeX and XeTeX... so it may seem unfair to put it in lualatex-modules, but I don't think it's big deal as long as fontspec is also in texlive-xetex (is it possible?). The other option is that I will rebase the debian packages of TeX Live against one of the current svn revisions -- something I will do anyway now and then. What do you think? The question is primarly on how fast those modules change and we need to update them. If once in a while togehter with the rest of TL then we leave them in, otherwise we can think about factoring them out. In fact it's hard to tell... these modules are quite stable, but surprises happen, like the incompatibility introduced by LuaTeX 0.44, and if these things happen, it's quite urgent to have an update. Same problem with luaotfload that has to deal with changes in the font system, etc. So I think if LuaTeX gets updated really often in Debian like it is now, it would be good to have this package lualatex-modules. Thank you! -- Elie -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#512984: Patch for the l10n upload of seyon
Dear maintainer of seyon, On Sunday, December 20, 2009 I sent you a notice announcing my intent to upload a NMU of your package to fix its pending l10n issues, after an initial notice sent on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Bug#435741: solution at last!
Well, i haven't made the update in the ticket, but i found a solution some time ago. If you migrate from 2.5 to 2.6 the way squid analices the acls changes when an acl has a refernce to a username or group. Every acl that has a to check username/password or membership of a group re ask for authentication credentials. If you have: http_access allow mygroup http_access allow myuser http_access allow workhours workers http_access allow seconduser Every http_access ask for authentication credentials and this generates a lot of load and traffic to the authenticator. To avoid this, is necesary to create the acls like this: acl dummy src 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 http_access allow mygroup dummy http_access allow myuser dummy http_access allow workers workhours http_access allow seconduser dummy This way, the dummy acl is the one that denies (or not) the traffic, and this way it dosen't ask for credentials again... Hope this helps closing the ticket. Tnxs. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#560643: libbsd-resource-perl: FTBFS: tests failed
On Mon, 21 Dec 2009 18:11:59 +0200, Damyan Ivanov wrote: I tried to rebuild libbsd-resource-perl, and t/getrusage.t test does not fail here. Could someone of the Debian Perl Group try to reproduce this too? Builds here (amd64 cowbuilder). The failing test file has two tests. Both check whether some resource consumption is approximately the same as what times() reports. There is a tolerance (20% for user time and 40% for system time) and the tests fail if the measured resource consumprion diverges by aa great factor. The tests point to INSTALL which has an interested paragraph concerning this specific test: #v+ NOTE 1: The test t/getrusage.t is known to be tricky and to fail once in a while. This is because the results depend on timing issues and the activity of the operating system, it is moderately icky to guestimate such tolerances that leave some slack while still proving anything. Please retry 'make test' for a couple times, eventually the test should pass. If even that fails, please see that the $debug in the script is 1 and then run the test separately: perl -Mblib t/getrusage.t or (if the above does not work) perl -Iblib/arch -Iblib/lib t/getrusage.t and send the results to me. Ditto for the other tests: running them separately with the $debug on is useful for, well, debugging. #v- I just built the package in 3 cowbuilder sid chroots (i386, amd64, and armel) -- and it passes the tests everywhere. Linux and its pathetic half-arsed community of retarded shiny-eyed gadget-kids making fun of people like RMS who (at the age of about 60 now) at least has a working GOD DAMN memory can fuck off at this point. you should consider using gNewSense. I got a message from a much nicer person than you (and sure; me too probably..) and it turned out I was wrong in that e.g. Ubuntu does not even _use_ your hostile, aggressive, crappy meta-package (ha-haaa). How is that for a clear as day statement, fuck-tard? The re-(?)maintainers of your biggest set of downstream _actual_ users (I know; they are all wrong and retarded) agrees with _me_. Are you getting the message loud and clear yet, huh? Perhaps you should consider what Jörg Schilling in your quote is proposing? Yes, it's in their repositories, but not installed. They instead provide and use their _own_ meta-package which renders one with a proper, complete and usable -- but _still_ flexible, desktop. So it seems most (all?) of the distros let people do what they want, then: * Fedora * Gentoo * Ubuntu * Arch * ..probably others? ..with of course Debians version of a Gnome based desktop being the exception in that it is an inflexible piece of turd. That, or you are free to pick anther version (meta-package) of what a Debian Gnome desktop entails that doesn't include anything useful. Oh, and I run KDE now, but yeah, perhaps I should also consider dropping Debian entirely for something a wee bit less hostile. ..anyway; good riddance to you people and your little debate. If you worship RMS so much, ... It was designed very specifically for retards like you. Haha. Is this the best you can do? I don't mind keeping things at this level, but you got to do better than this then! If you think this kind of email will make things change, I wish you good luck in your life. You’ll need much of it. In my case I will not have to wish for anything as I _know_ people will continue to reflect your negative ways back at you in various forms; directly or indirectly (e.g., passive; by more or less silently leaving). Good luck with your aggressive, destructive, violent and ugly behavior -- it's _your_ little debate. If a user has nVidia hardware and this isn't installed, then some functionality will simply be absent, and even an advanced user will have absolutely no idea why. Therefore, it is preferable that we consider install-everything-it-might-possibly-need as a usual installation, i.e., this stuff is installed by default, and the advanced user can choose to remove it while tweaking the system. After looking into the sources it appears that only smartdimmer is needed and only on a few Sony laptops. Therefore I would think downgrading nvclock is appropriate. Package: dotlrn Severity: normal Apart from the already reported needed changes in debconf templates (these would have been avoided by asking for a review in debian-l10n-english before introducing the templates), I think that 3 debconf templates in your package are debcofn abuse as defined in http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/best-pkging-practices.html#s6.5.1: dotlrn/pg_grant_access_manual_blank_pass and dotlrn/pg_grant_access_manual: users already refused the automatic granting of access, so they should expect to have somethign to do manually. Such instructions belong to README.Debian, not debconf dotlrn/notconfigured: clearly belongs to README.Debian, particularly when showed at critical priority (you'll interrupt nearly all installs with this). Some other improvements could also come: use dbconfig-common to prompt for needed information, minor wording improvements, etc. All this could be done with a call for templates review in debian-l10n-english. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#562939: sysfs.conf: Apply settings as soon as they are available
Package: sysfsutils Version: 2.1.0-6 Severity: wishlist -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I notice that sysfsutils applies settings only once, upon system start. I find this insufficient, as some settings should probably be applied earlier (rfkill-disables), and some files in /sys will only appear later (e.g. upon module load, plugging in USB device, rfkill changes, suspend wakeup (see #473413)). It would be great if, upon creation of a new sysfs node, sysfsutils would apply possible settings. I have no idea how to implement this nicely, or at all. Does sysfs support inotify? On Tuesday 29 December 2009, Jurij Smakov wrote: I see that modprobe has --resolve-alias flag which prints out the module(s) matching an alias, which renders the whole sed concoction unnecessary. I think we should keep Jérémy's solution. If --resolve-alias can return multiple modules that support the device, then we have no reliable way of knowing which one has actually been loaded and for which we're missing the firmware. AFAICT Jérémy's code should result in the exact module that was loaded [1]. Looks reasonable, thanks. Unfortunately, I'm on vacation for the next two weeks without access to my sparc, so I'll not be able to test it until the third week of January. OK. I'll upload the new version. Please test a daily build when you have a chance. [1] Except maybe if a user did a manual modprobe. You can also use this utility to request for new translations: $ podebconf-report-po --call This will send a mail to debian-i...@lists.debian.org with all the needed information and material for new translators to add new languages to your supported languages. It runs on Debian GNU/Linux, *BSD, MacOSX, and Solaris, and may be easily adapted to other Unix operating systems. runit implements a simple three-stage concept. Stage 1 performs the system's one-time initialization tasks. Stage 2 starts the system's uptime services (via the runsvdir program). Stage 3 handles the tasks necessary to shutdown and halt or reboot. . See http://smarden.org/runit/ for more information. . This package replaces the /sbin/init program and configures runit to run as process no 1 after the next reboot. Bug#561852: apt: Method http has died unexpectedly (undefined symbol:)
Hi, It turns out that some previous version of apt (= 0.7.24) provide libapt-pkg- libc6.9-6.so.4.8.1 shared object, which according to objdump -T and readelf -s do not provide the missing symbol in question (_Z14maybe_add_authR3URISs). To force dynamic linker to resolve all symbols at program startup instead of when they are first referenced: LD_BIND_NOW=true apt-get update To produce a more verbose debugging about the dynamic linkage: (what object files linker picks up and which symbols are being resolved) on x86: LD_DEBUG=all /lib/ld-linux.so.2 /usr/bin/apt-get update on amd64: LD_DEBUG=all /lib/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /usr/bin/apt-get update Since that it a transient breakage, I think we can close that bug safely unless there is a possible upgrade path which could leave the system in a state such that apt-get executable could call maybe_add_auth function without being dynamically linked with the proper shared object providing that symbol (_Z14maybe_add_authR3URISs) as well. P.S. Many thanks to Wil van Lierop (dutchfish) and Ron Lee (ron) for taking part in hunting down that transient breakage on IRC. -- pub 4096R/0E4BD0AB people.fccf.net/danchev/key pgp.mit.edu -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#562944: kmymoney depends on libkleo
Hi KDE-PIM, I see with today's announcement that kmymoney now depends on libkleo development headers for the build: http://www.kdenews.org/2009/12/28/first-kmymoney-beta-version-available-kde-4- platform The problem for me, packaging kmymoney for Debian, is that libkleo isn't shipped in the external libraries kdepimlibs package, but rather an internal library in the kdepim package. What do the kde-pim team recommend in this situation? Is it possible to move libkleo into the public libraries, kdepimlibs? I see in the kdepimlibs/PLAN that kleo is listed as done: Done akonadi gpgme++ kblog kcal kholidays kimap kleo (GPL) kmime kpimidentities ktnef mailtransport qgpgme syndication But kleo doesn't appear to of migrated. It would be nice if libuninameslist could support Unicode 5.2 for squeeze. PS: unicode-data 5.2.0-1 is already in squeeze, it would be nice if a binNMU or even just restarting apps using libuninameslist would pick up the new version. Even nicer would be if the library used inotify or similar to find out when the Unicode data has been updated and when it gets updated then reparse it and notify running apps that they need to re-init their data. Bug#562698: iceweasel: crashes randomly and never figures out why
On Monday 28 December 2009, Mike Hommey wrote: On Sun, Dec 27, 2009 at 10:16:53AM +0800, Li He wrote: Package: iceweasel Version: 3.5.6-1 Severity: important I am suffering from the random crashes of iceweasel possibly from 3.5.x versions. I tried many of them, 3.5.2, 3.5.3, 3.5.4, 3.5.5 and now 3.5.6. They all crash randomly. I googled many times and I found there are guys reporting similar bugs. Some of them are even told their claimed bug is fixed but to my own experience iceweasel never stops this random crashes. First I tried to create a new profile, since it is said the old profile might include something that crashes the program. But soon I found out the crash still occurs. Later I found someone says you might create an empty ~/.mozilla. So I removed my ~/.mozilla and start up an iceweasel without any extensions or plugins. But all of a sudden, the browser crashed again. So I think it has nothing to do with plugins or extensions. It is simply from iceweasel itself. Don't tell me it has anything to do with the kernel. During this period, 2.6.29, 2.6.30, 2.6.31(-trunk) and now 2.6.32-trunk. And the driver, someone says the video driver might cause trouble. But if I remember well, I did configured it properly (with radeon for ATI X1400 on a T60 thinkpad). I can't trace with iceweasel -g option (with iceweasel-dbg and xulrunner-dbg installed). I can see there is a gdb process after executing the command but I wait for 5-6 minutes and nothing happens (the harddisk was not even reading anything). I did try without iceweasel-dbg some time earlier. The tracing was not successful gdb only provided very limited information, which is almost identical to some earlier bug report. This random crash happens when a tab is closed, either by clicking the x on top of the tab or press Ctrl-W. The gdb will claim there is a seg fault due to an image (if I remember well). If I restart the firefox, sometimes it will notify me to restore the last session due to a crash but sometimes it will simply restore the session without any notification (as if nothing happens). I am very serious about this problem since I can't bear it any more. Just think about it. Every 10-20 minites surfing the web, the browser crashes and you have to restart it. In Windows, this never happens. If any more information is demanded I will try to provide ASAP. But so far, I just got this simple description. Sometimes I even suspect that the crash is caused by my input method. But now I think I am wrong about it. I tried ibus and scim. Browers like arora do have some conflicts with ibus. They crash when I type with ibus triggered. But this never happens with iceweasel, with neither scim nor ibus. Could you try the instructions in /usr/share/bug/iceweasel/presubj, most notably, the one to disable plugins. Thanks Mike I did try this: MOZILLA_DISABLE_PLUGINS=1 /usr/bin/iceweasel The crash came several minutes later when I closed one tab. The returned information on the terminal is Trace/breakpoint trap To be honest, I mentioned I tried this last time except with no command given. Here I list some other information. Please try this sequence: mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.bak MOZILLA_DISABLE_PLUGINS=1 /usr/bin/iceweasel -g visit some web pages. what I did was the first tab: http://new.sina.com.cn the second tab: http://www.vip.edu.cn the third tab: http://demonstrate.ycool.com after opening the three sites in my iceweasel, I returned to the second page, clicked some links (the one meaning product if you understand Chinese) there and closed it with Ctrl-W. Then my X is even frozen. Luckily I got the following information in gdb: GNU gdb (GDB) 7.0-debian Copyright (C) 2009 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
