Bug#592312: Newer version of roundcube in experimental
I would also appreciate a newer version (0.4.x or the 0.5 beta) of roundcube in the experimental respository. I am running into incompatibilities between some of the plugins (settings, accounts) and the present version 0.3.1.6. Yes and in fact I think the actual fix is simply to have Xen fake out the behaviour of numa=noacpi as below. I'll send this plus the other fix out after I've given it a bit of proper testing. Package: sbuild Version: 0.60.5-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Roger, I am exploring the collection build logs in the same git repository as the source package itself. I wonder if it would be possible to reduce the diff between different builds, by having sbuild using a constant name for the build directory. Bug#605748: grub-pc: debconf questions should be translated
It's too early in the day (-14°C outside!) for me to expect to get this all right without typos/thinkos, so extra feedback is definitely welcome. David Prévot wrote: I can't remember a request for review for the last year on debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org but if you still want to do so, please do it ASAP and perform a call for translation. There was something last year on setting a username/password: http://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-english/2009/09/msg00012.html but nothing about a full review, Overall comments: 1) The inter-sentence punctuation is doublespacey throughout; en_US styleguides prefer singlespaced. 2) There are some uses of second person (things like do you want to install grub to your computer's MBR) where in principle I might be a sysadmin reluctantly following corporate IT policy for the company's servers. On the other hand every time we flatten those out we run the risk of reducing clarity for the users who *are* in charge of their own machines, and the worst case scenario of an unbootable machine is a significant risk here, so I have left most cases unchanged. 3) The terminology used for the process of writing to a bootsector needs to be kept clear; talking about installing GRUB can be confusing, since after all these templates are used *after* I've installed grub in the dpkg-deb sense. Template: grub-pc/chainload_from_menu.lst Type: boolean Default: true #flag:translate!:6 _Description: Chainload from menu.lst? GRUB upgrade scripts have detected a GRUB Legacy setup in /boot/grub. . In order to replace the Legacy version of GRUB in your system, it is recommended that /boot/grub/menu.lst is adjusted to chainload GRUB 2 from your existing GRUB Legacy setup. This step may be automaticaly (1) ^ performed now. Typo! s/aly/ally/ (oh, and I'd prefer s/may/can/) Chainload is jargon, and might put users off from taking this step. Is there a simpler alternative? Would it be accurate to say adjusted to load a GRUB 2 boot image (leaving chainload in the short description)? (If I understand correctly, whether I say yes here or not I'll still have grub-legacy code in my MBR that reads /boot/grub/menu.lst; chainloading means that it will be configured to boot a GRUB 2 image in a similar fashion to the way grub boots a foreign OS?) . It's recommended that you accept chainloading GRUB 2 from menu.lst, and verify that your new GRUB 2 setup is functional for you, before you install it directly to your MBR (Master Boot Record). Some (2) and (3) - we could make it verify that the new GRUB 2 setup works before it is written to the MBR (Master Boot Record). . In either case, whenever you want GRUB 2 to be loaded directly from MBR, you can do so by issuing (as root) the following command: . upgrade-from-grub-legacy It's not obvious what the two cases are here, and it doesn't really mean do so (running this command does not immediately cause the machine to reboot). If I understand correctly, the change that this command performs is basically retiring all the old grub-legacy stuff... hmm, /usr/sbin/upgrade-from-grub-legacy starts by Installing GRUB to Master Boot Record of your first hard drive even if I've declared that I only wanted it on /dev/sdc. Oh well. Whatever your decision, you can replace the old MBR image with GRUB 2 later by issuing the following command as root: Template: grub-pc/install_devices Type: multiselect Choices-C: ${RAW_CHOICES} Choices: ${CHOICES} # Intentionally not marked for translations yet; will do after a review period Description: GRUB install devices: The grub-pc package is being upgraded. This menu allows you to select which (1) devices you'd like grub-install to be automatically run for, if any. . It is recommended that you do this in most situations, to prevent the installed GRUB from getting out of sync with other components such as grub.cfg or with newer Linux images it will have to load. Again, do this is a bit off (it doesn't mean that you should reselect install devices every time). Can we change it to Running grub-install automatically is recommended in most situations? (Personally I prefer the spellings synch/synching to sync/syncing, but I seem to be in a minority so I'll leave it.) Oh, and s/Linux/kernel/ doesn't hurt... . If you're unsure which drive is designated as boot drive by your BIOS, it is often a good idea to install GRUB to all of them. . Note: It is possible to install GRUB to partition boot records as well, and some appropriate partitions are offered here. However, this forces GRUB to (1) use the blocklist mechanism, which makes it less reliable, and therefore is not recommended. I often complain about Note:, but I think it's okay here,

It'd be nice to commit that along with an update of the gnulib submodule to the latest. As for a test, it shouldn't be too hard to create a root-only test on linux/gnu systems, since _PC_TIMESTAMP_RESOLUTION is not defined. I've just kicked off a build of the 2.6.32-27 Debian kernel with the following additional patch, I will hopefully post the binaries tomorrow. Build was quicker than I thought... Vincent, Cris if you get a chance please can you test the kernel from: http://xenbits.xen.org/people/ianc/2.6.32-27+numa1/ Also, please can you try adding numa=noacpi to your kernel command line when running with the standard Debian kernel (not the one above). Thanks! It just happens that your kernel above (2.6.32-27+numa1) boots fine under hypervisor _when_ passed 'numa=noacpi'. Yeah ! I then tried again with Debian Squeeze's latest 2.6.32-28, which crashes as -27 under hypervisor (and changelog show no xen or numa-related thingies). Then I added 'numa=noacpi', and it boots fine too. I got my 8 cores, networking, etc. Enclosed is the dmesg for the latter, Debian, kernel. Is the 'numa=noacpi' a production acceptable workaround ? Yes and in fact I think the actual fix is simply to have Xen fake out the behaviour of numa=noacpi as below. I'll send this plus the other fix out after I've given it a bit of proper testing. OK, I'll follow the patch until it makes it to Squeeze's kernel. Thanks a lot for your help and fix ! Bug#579696: man-db: Search does not find hyphenated words
On 2 December 2010 23:59, Colin Watson cjwat...@debian.org wrote: Just so that I know where to look, what sort of search are you referring to? apropos? man -K? A search in a pager? Sorry, I meant a search in a pager (in my case, less, though I doubt it matters which pager). However, you make me realise that the only obvious solution is to prevent hyphenation, since once the text has been fed to the pager, it would have itself to have a search function that understands hyphenation in order to work as expected. Just to make sure, here's an example: if I search for configuration, but an instance of that word has been split across a line as config-\nuration by groff, then less (or most other pagers) won't find that instance. -- http://rrt.sc3d.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#605785: RFP: foo-yc20 -- divide-down combo organ designed in the late 60's. This emulation faithfully copies the features, sounds and flaws of the original organ.
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist comment by author: The organ (by design) is very computationally heavy. Therefor it really needs to be compiled with SSE. I don't really think you can even run it on a machine without SSE, because such processors tend to be too slow anyway. Also, it would make sense to package a more efficient version of the dsp code. The actual dsp is written in faust and the intermediate (generated) c++ file in the distributed 1.0.0 is (iirc) geared towards fast compiling, not efficiency. If it's possible to release optimized deb's, I am more than willing to help you reach this goal. The build script is quite rudimentary. Can you point me towards things you'd like to see in the build system? I have some improvements in SVN anyway which need releasing, so we could work together to do a more robust release compatible with debian packaging. * Package name: foo-yc20 Version : 1.0.0 Upstream Author : Sampo Savolainen v...@iki.fi * URL : https://code.google.com/p/foo-yc20/ * License : GPL v3 Programming Lang: C++ Description : divide-down combo organ designed in the late 60's. Bug#605703: iodine-start-client fails twice in a row
On Thu, 02 Dec 2010 15:49:48 +0100, Enrico Tassi wrote: iodine-start-client removes the default route replacing it with a default route that passes trough the tunnel. ## Remove default route via local router ip -4 route del default via ${router} || ${continue_on_error} Just after that line the script sets a new default route as expected. If you then kill iodine this default route is cleared (since the network interface dns0 disappears). The next time you start the script you get this warning WARNING: no default route, guessing local router IP address. and the former line fails. I think that, if you consider this as a warning, you should record that there was no default route and avoid to try to delete such non existing route, or at least avoid to fail (even if the user is root). Bug#605794: kxkb: Does not drop obsolete options such as apple:badmap
Package: kdebase-workspace-bin Version: 4:4.4.5-5 Severity: normal Hi, Possibly related: #604816 I was getting the exact issue reported here, but had no longer configured apple:badmap systemwide; it only existed in my kxkb configuration. I had an apple keyboard, and configured it with kxkb to use apple:badmap a year in the past. This showed up on the Command entry line on the Advanced tab. Now that X has dropped support for apple:badmap, this no longer appears in /etc/default/keyboard or in any other system-wide configuration. However, there is now no longer any checkbox to edit in kxkb to turn the option off, and it's not possible to edit the command entry field directly. With the option still present, it screws up the two keys on my keyboard it swaps. I solved this by editing kxkbrc directly, to remove the option. But this will be impossible for many users who want to correct this via the GUI interface--it's not there to tweak. It would, I think, be best if kxkb dropped and/or ignored no longer supported options automatically. Or, at the very least, provide some means of removing options from the command line entry which are not editable by turning on options in the list. Package: Bluez-utis Version: 3.36-3 I got carried away and installed bluez-gstreamer (4.60-1-bpo). This necessitated installation of bluez (4.60.1-bpo) which in turn necessitated upgrading of perfectly working bluez-utis (3.36-3). It originated from Intel's Data Center Bridging (DCB) software - the dcbd package. The lldpad package adds LLDP support for all ports in addition to DCB Exchange protocol (DCBX) support on DCB capable ports (as was provided by dcbd). Also, support for additional LLDP TLVs has been added. DCB is a collection of emerging standards-based technologies designed to allow Ethernet to support multiple types of traffic classes in the Data Center. The DCBX functionality of this package is designed to work with the DCB kernel interface (dcbnl in rtnetlink) that is included in the Linux kernel 2.6.29 or higher. Bug#605716: matroxfb causes corruption in virtual consoles
tag 605716 - squeeze thanks Hi Manuel, no need for a squeeze tag, we have version tracking, which will do the job. Manuel Hachtkemper hac...@math.uni-bonn.de (02/12/2010): we are using matroxfb (compiled in) and xserver-xorg-video-mga. After booting (with grub2 and video=matroxfb in the grub commandline) and switching automatically to tty7 (kdm) everything looks well. But after switching to tty1-6 you can see the text of the login prompt but you can't see what you type in, or you can see the login prompt shifted multiple times (including see/guess what you type in). This bug was also reported on launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/581466 the best thing you could do is filing a bug upstream, although I'm not sure -mga is maintained anyway. To do so: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/ It'd be nice to give us the bug number or the bug URL so that we can track the upstream bug. Mraw, KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
