Bug#761470: gnuplot-qt: please provide a desktop file and icons

2014-09-14 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: gnuplot-qt
Version: 4.6.5-10
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: debian-edu

Hi.

Currently gnuplot-qt do not provide a desktop file and no desktop and
menu icons. Thus cause the program to not show up in the user menu in
the desktop environments in Debian Edu Jessie, and is thus mostly
unavailable for GUI users like pupils in schools. Please add a desktop
file for the gnuplot-qt package.

The old menu file /usr/share/menu/timidity have this content:

  ?package(timidity):needs=x11 section=Applications/Sound \

I suggest the desktop file run a similar command, and list the mime
types handled by timidity to allow the desktop to start timidity

Bug#761473: digikam: Crash at startup with Floating point exception

2014-09-14 Thread ewl+debian+nospam2014

Hi,

I installed gdb and was able to continue with the crash reporting
assistant which found similar KDE bugs: 332721, 331506 and 331450 (all
duplicates of each other, the last one seems to be the master bug).

Those bugs seem to imply that the issue is in Exiv2 shared lib,
especially in video metadata parser. This would mean that the bug should
be reassigned to package libexiv2-13, I guess, but it's difficult for me
to judge if the bug is really the same.

I also attach the backtrace of the crash.

Thanks, Eric

Bug#761473: digikam: Crash at startup with Floating point exception

2014-09-14 Thread ewl+debian+nospam2014

Hello,

one last step for now:
the issue seems to be related to http://dev.exiv2.org/issues/961 which
states that the issue is in libkexiv (with a K). Following
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=331679, the issue is closed in
version 4.1.0.

But the bug is still there, and I'm confused...

Thanks, Eric

Bug#761474: please add installation instructions

2014-09-14 Thread Tomas Pospisek
Package: powerline
Version: 0~20140216-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello Jerome,

so I've installed powerline, but neither is now my command line any different
nor is vim's. What now? So next thing to do is to go to
/usr/share/doc/powerline and see, wheter there's a README.Debian or any
other userful documents helping with installation.

But no, there isn't very much help there either. There's a
README.rst.gz (What's 'rst'? Should that maybe be 'first'?), however
it only refers to online documentation that contains a lot of stuff:
installation via pip, patching fonts et cetera.

So maybe 'man powerline'? No success there either.

Could you please include some user friendly installation documentation? Or
otherwiser maybe refer directly to the relevant documentation
sections in the online docu?

On more question: are you intending to maintain that package? There are
bug reports open against powerline for a few months now that are trivial
to fix, but would improve its quality considerably (#753663, #753665,
#758162). There are ways to get help with a package in Debian (RFH,
orphanig, co-maintaining, letting people know you're interested in NMUs
etc.).

Thanks for packaging and greets,
*t

Bug#752277: basic security support for section contrib

2014-09-14 Thread Bart Martens
Hi Security Team,

I see that flashplugin-nonfree/1:3.2 is still in Debian stable (not removed and
not replaced by the available 1:3.2+wheezy1), and the feedback I got so far is
basically that contrib is not supported by the Security Team, even that the
infrastructure for allowing contrib packages to go to stable via
security.debian.org would currently even not be in place. I regret that. Can
I help in the Security Team to provide some basic security support for contrib?

Note that the FAQ currently states this :
https://www.debian.org/security/faq#contrib

  | If it is possible to fix the problem, and the package maintainer or someone
  | else provides correct updated packages, then the security team will
generally
  | process them and release an advisory.

In this case I'd like to see this bug
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=752277
fixed with the minimal changes in this package.
https://people.debian.org/~bartm/flashplugin-nonfree/D5C0FC14/flashplugin-nonfree_3.2+wheezy1_amd64.changes

Please let me know how I could help.

Regards,

Bart Martens

Bug#748321: ITP: raceintospace -- free software version of the Liftoff! board game

2014-09-14 Thread Dariusz Dwornikowski
 Dariusz Dwornikowski dariusz.dwornikow...@cs.put.poznan.pl writes:

Since the package depends on physfs 2.1, which has not been release
yet, we need to wait for the upstream of physfs to release 2.1 and for
the package to be in Debian. For now, raceintospace is ready in
pkg-games git and can go to Debian when physfs is ready.

Thanks for your efforts in packaging raceintospace. I've noticed that
Hedgewars used to have a similar problem, which they've solved by adding
a compatibility layer for PhysFS 2.0. Using this as a starting point, I
saw that only one more function had to be provided, which I backported
from the 2.1 branch with some minor modifications. With the attached
patch, raceintospace compiles and runs with the PhysFS library from
sid. The compatibility layer checks for the version number of PhysFS, so
once 2.1 is packaged, the code should automatically stop being included.

Thanks for that Hendrik, I will test it and preppare a release if it
is ok.

The only slight drawback is that Hedgewars is GPL-2 only, so it will no
longer be possible to ship raceintospace binaries as GPL-2+. But since
this is only a temporary situation, I think this can be justified.

Yeah I think so. On the other hand I can see that physfs is not very
actively developed so we could wait a little bit.

Bug#761241: nvidia proprietary driver

Control: reassign -1 libclutter-gtk-1.0-0
Control: forcemerge 761009 -1

Hello!

Thanks for the confirmation abouth the proprietary nvidia driver is
in use.

Unfortunately it is not that easy to just blacklist the nvidia driver.
The driver also replaces your entire graphics stack once it's installed.
You'll basically need to reinstall your system to get rid of it.

Anyway, the problem should be worked around in clutter-gtk. Thus reassigning
and merging your bug report.
Try upgrading to a newer version of clutter-gtk.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson

PS. My ISP where having problems which should now be resolved.

The patch should also support switching this removal on/off, so that the old

regressions. Really, keeping the old debs around are meant as a fallback if
new updates cause regressions. It's intended behavior.

Hi,

request-tracker4 doesn't carry its own copy of any third party
libraries, and shouldn't.

I've marked this bug as affecting request-tracker4 thought which should
mean it shows up when people look for bugs against that.

All that said, I'm still bemused as to what's going on here; it looks
rather more like something odd in the local environment than anything
else; I can't reproduce the problem on a wheezy system with RT4
from backports.

Please could you send the output of

debsums -c

to eliminate any other local issues?

Thanks,

Please let me know how I could help.

Flash, being non-free, is entirely unsupportable from a security
perspective: that is by definition (and the historical track record
also doesn't help).

That said, anyone can propose a stable proposed-update, but the
gatekeeper for that is the release team rather than the security team.

Bug#761470: gnuplot-qt: please provide a desktop file and icons

Hi Petter,

thanks for the bugreport. I will be glad to apply the patch,
which fixes this issue.

Best regards

Bug#749582: #749582: qgo installs a generated file

2014-09-14 Thread Pino Toscano

retitle 749582 qgo: installs a generated XML mime type
tag 749582 + patch
thanks

Hi,

the real issue is in qgo itself.

What happens is that qgo is installing a generated XML mime type [1]
directly to /usr/share/mime/text, without its XML mime type
definition in /usr/share/mime/packages, so update-mime-database will
just remove /usr/share/mime/text/x-sgf.xml (and the rest of the
content of that directory) at the next run, without creating a new
XML mime type.

Furthermore, the generated mime type definition is installed with the
wrong file name even, since a text/go-sgf mime type should be in
/usr/share/mime/text/go-sgf.xml.

On the other hand, shared-mime-info is already providing a mime type
for *.sgf files, called application/x-go-sgf, and already shipped for
many years already (the latest change to that was in 2007, so since
shared-mime-info 0.20+).

Thus, the fix is to just not install that generated XML file anymore,
since as it is now is
a) useless (it has no definition, so gets removed by
   update-mime-database)
b) harmful (it conflicts with an existing mimetype shipped by
   shared-mime-info)
Patch attached for it (ideally upstream could also drop src/x-sgf.xml
altogether).

Ah, side note while I looked at qgo' sources: src/sgf.desktop, which
gets installed to /usr/share/mimelnk, is a KDE 3 only mime type, so
there is not much use for it.

[1] you can see the self-explaining
!--Created automatically by update-mime-database. DO NOT EDIT!--
  comment in x-sgf.xml

Thanks,
--
PinoAuthor: Pino Toscano p...@debian.org
Description: stop installing generated XML mime type
x-sgf.xml is a generated XML mime type without a proper definition, so
installing it in one of the directories of generated XML mime types causes
its deletion at the next update-mime-database run.
 .
Furthermore, shared-mime-info is providing application/x-go-sgf for *.sgf
files since many years, so there is no need for a mime type for it.

Bug#759048: hachoir-wx: Patch for wxPython 3.0

2014-09-14 Thread michel . casabona
Hi Olly,

- Mail original -
 De: Olly Betts o...@survex.com
 À: 759...@bugs.debian.org
 Envoyé: Dimanche 7 Septembre 2014 02:45:54
 Objet: Bug#759048: hachoir-wx: Patch for wxPython 3.0

 Control: tags 759048 + patch

Thanks a lot for the patch, and wxpy30-update

With the attached patch, hachoir-wx builds. When run, it seems to
 want
me to select a file, but I'm not sure I have a suitable input, so I
haven't really been able to usefully test it.

Any binary structured file such as tar.gz, png, ogg, avi will do

Please could you give it a more thorough workout, and upload if all
 is
 well.

No other change is needed, everything seems to work correctly.
The package is ready to upload from Debian python svn repository

FYI, there is an error message from wxpython at program termination.
swig/python detected a memory leak of type 'wxPyXmlSubclassFactory *', no
destructor found.
it is already fixed upstream: http://trac.wxwidgets.org/changeset/75542

Thanks!

Unfortunately no. Upstream is not responsive and hiding to be more
 precise.

I can fully confirm this statement of László. Although I was part of the
VICE team before I quit, even I am not able to contact them anymore: I
 am simply ignored.
That's bad. :( I loosely follow the VICE development for years
especially that I was a friend of Ettore Perazzoli. It changed a lot.

The only possibility to contact them might be to use the bug tracker on
 SF.
I've tried and got an answer it works on Gentoo. Waiting for more
answers as I could figure out more that may help. It seems if I set
grp:shifts_toggle option to setxkbmap and I can switch keyboard layout
with both shift the bug appears. But if I use grp:alt_shift_toggle and
can switch layouts with alt+shift, then shift in x64 works as
expected.

Hope this helps,
Laszlo/GCS

The reason is that you need to build the casacore-data package from source.

The source files are the ones that may be downloaded by casacore's
measures_data.csh (right?)

To build the package one needs to apply the measures_data program to it,
which is integrated in the casacore framework, and this creates the dependency.

Bug#761428: linux-image-3.16-1-amd64: [regression] SD card reader in Asus X53SM does not work anymore

2014-09-14 Thread Ralf Jung
Hi,

It seems to be enabled through CONFIG_MFD_RTSX_USB, which I don't see
anywhere in the Debian packaging (svn sid branch).
 [...]

It is enabled. But the new driver's author forgot to include the device
ID list in the module metadata. So the driver should work if loaded by
running 'modprobe rtsx_usb', but it won't currently be auto-loaded by
 udev.

Indeed, after loading the module manually, the SD card can be mounted.
I will report this upstream.

Kind regards
Ralf

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/lib/libstarpu-1.1.so.7

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

stop

Hello again,

I finally found where the problem is coming from (well, kind of): I had
downloaded mp4 files recorded on a Galaxy S with a CM11 firmware, and
the files have a format which seems quite special, as vlc, avplay and
mplayer have also their problem with those films BUT they don't crash!

Whereas digikam and gwenview both do crash on a directory with those
files (and don't without them), meaning the issue is indeed rather at
lib(k)exiv level. As the bug reports I referred to seem to hint at the
fact that libkexiv is responsible for error handling, here we are!

I can share privately the offending files if someone is willing to fix
the issue, which is less important than initially thought.

I hope all the bug control commands are correct...

Thanks, Eric

But the bug is still there, and I'm confused...

Those bugs seem to imply that the issue is in Exiv2 shared lib,

2014-09-14 Thread Emmanuel Charpentier
Package: maxima-emacs
Version: 5.33.0-19
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After updating maxima-emacs to 5.33.0-19, imaxima (= maxima launched trom an
emacs session with type setting of the results) is no longer able to give its
results. Consider the following transcript of an imaxima session :

Maxima 5.33.0 http://maxima.sourceforge.net
using Lisp GNU Common Lisp (GCL) GCL 2.6.10 (a.k.a. GCL)

(%o6) x*atan(x)-log(x^2+1)/2
(%i7)

Maxima compute correct results, and imaxima seems to generate correct \LaTeX
code. The problem seems to lie in the lower layers of interfacing with latex.

I found no other hints of problems with my texlive-full installation : sage in
emacs correctly displays its results, pdflatex correctly compiles whatever I
throw in its direction (including Sagetex example an manual). Therefor, I think
the problem lies in imaxima. Googling didn't reveal any hint of this specific
problem with imaxima. It might well be lie in Debian's packaging.

I saw that a new version of maxima mackages exists in unstable and will try
them. If problemantic, I'll report back on this bug.

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Following maxima packages in jessie.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?

Reinstallation (after purge) of the maxima packages.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Same situation.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

A working imaxima :-).

Bug#761487: okular: PDF prints are stretched and misplaced

2014-09-14 Thread Matthias Bodenbinder
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.14.0-2
Severity: important

When printing PDF documents okular is streching text width and text height and
additionally places the printout ca. 3mm to far to the left. This is very
annoying when printing letters generated by scrlttr2 package. (latex komascript
package)

PDF prints with texmakers internal PDF viewer or with evince are perfect. They
match each other.
Okular is stretching the textwidth by a few millimeters and the textheight as
well. It also moves the print area ca. 3mm to the left which means that the
folding marks for the letter are not printed properly.

Printer is a HP Laserjet CP1525n.
I am using cups with printer driver HP Color LaserJet cp1515n hpijs pcl3,

Bug#761452: [debian-mysql] Bug#761452: mariadb-server-5.5: one-way migration refusal is permanent

2014-09-14 Thread B
have you tried dpkg-reconfigure?

When installing mariadb-server-5.5 with existing MySQL databases, the user
is given a choice of whether to accept a one-way migration.

If the user refuses to accept the one-way migration, the option is never
offered again, even when the user decides it's time to migrate and re-installs
 the package.

Once chosen, the preinst script always aborts the installation.

Bug#761488: Upgraded 2.3.4-1 init script fails to stop running daemons from previous version

2014-09-14 Thread Gedalya

Package: openvpn
Version: 2.3.4-1
Severity: normal

When upgrading openvpn from 2.3.2-9 to 2.3.4-1, the restart or stop
actions fail to stop the previously running daemons. When not binding to
an address:port (as is typical for client mode), the start action
completes successfully and you end up with multiple daemons and tun
devices all trying to run the same tunnel, with strange results.

Bug#760532: libcgi-psgi-perl: Does not work for request-tracker4

2014-09-14 Thread paul . szabo
Dear Dominic,

request-tracker4 doesn't carry its own copy of any third party
 libraries, and shouldn't.

Seems I misunderstood the meaning of http://bugs.debian.org/693821 .

I've marked this bug as affecting request-tracker4 thought which should
mean it shows up when people look for bugs against that.

Thanks.

All that said, I'm still bemused as to what's going on here; it looks
rather more like something odd in the local environment than anything
else; I can't reproduce the problem on a wheezy system with RT4

Please could you send the output of

Thanks, but it looks like you forgot to bump the translation-check (the

Oh, I didn't know about that. Many thanks for pointing that out. It's quite
tough to get back a critique with each and every patch I'm sending, but
please, do keep the critique coming, I appreciate it very, very much. That
way I'm able to learn how to do it properly. I hope there will be a day where
I'll be delivering impeccable patches, but until then: many, many thanks for
reviewing my faulty patches and letting me know!

Attached is the improved version, with a smart_changes.pl run.

Attached is the patch for the missing japanese version. Now all the
(existing) translations should be in sync wrt this specific change.

Could you please apply?

Package: libwebkitgtk-3.0-0

Machine: armhf

Since the upgrade of the above packages from version 2.3.90-1 to
version 2.4.1-2, all webkit based web browsers (midori, xombrero,
dwb...) don't display correctly pages containing images. It seems that
the width of the images is not correctly computed.

It seems also that this problem occurs on ARM machines but not on x86
machines.

Example of badly rendered pages:

The image 'Second tune' is not inside the table cell.

The main map is not displayed at the right place.

The text under Actualités is covered by the image.

When clicking on 'Size', the list is vertical instead of
horizontal.

The whole top menu is displayed on the left.

Flash, being non-free, is entirely unsupportable from a security
perspective: that is by definition (and the historical track record
 also doesn't help).

This bug is not in the player but in the Debian package.

That said, anyone can propose a stable proposed-update, but the
gatekeeper for that is the release team rather than the security team.

I meant via security.debian.org, not via stable proposed-updates.

Again, see this part of the FAQ :

  | If it is possible to fix the problem, and the package maintainer or someone

It is possible to fix the problem, and the package maintainer has provided a
correct updated package, so why is the security team not processing it and
release an advisory ? If it's due to lack of time, can I help with this ?

-- Package-specific info:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We will only consider bug reports concerning
the packaging of TeX Live as relevant. If you have problems with
combination of packages in a LaTeX document, please consult your
local TeX User Group, the comp.text.tex user group, the author of
the original .sty file, or any other help resource.

In particular, bugs that are related to up-upstream, i.e., neither
Debian nor TeX Live (upstream), but the original package authors,
will be closed immediately.

*** The Debian TeX Team is *not* a LaTeX Help Desk ***

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.

Please run your example with
(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.

Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

Bug#761491: GPU HANG in /var/log/kern.log

2014-09-14 Thread Yvan Masson

Package: libdrm-intel1
Version: 2.4.56-1

Dear maintainer,
Using Linux 3.16-1-686-pae (version 3.16.2-3), I am having problems :
  - Hangs on boot most of the time (needs hard shutdown)
  - On resume (after a suspend to ram), screen backlight not powering on (needs
a reboot, soft or hard)

I looked in /var/log/kern.log and found this, which might be linked :

Sep 14 10:08:11 yvan-macbook kernel: [2.076128] [drm] GPU HANG:
ecode -1:0x, reason: Command parser error, iir 0x8000,
action: continue
Sep 14 10:08:11 yvan-macbook kernel: [2.076130] [drm] GPU hangs can
indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx stack, including userspace.
Sep 14 10:08:11 yvan-macbook kernel: [2.076131] [drm] Please file a
_new_ bug report on bugs.freedesktop.org against DRI - DRM/Intel
Sep 14 10:08:11 yvan-macbook kernel: [2.076132] [drm] drm/i915
developers can then reassign to the right component if it's not a kernel
issue.

Bug#370650: (no subject)

2014-09-14 Thread Julian Marchant
Is anyone going to package version 1.51? 6 years later, it seems 1.50 is
still the version of this package in Sid. This bug with springs being at
the top of the level is really annoying and kind of ruins the game.

Bug#761482: RFS: argyll/1.6.3-1 [ITA]

2014-09-14 Thread Stephen Kitt
Hi,

Thanks for taking care of ArgyllCMS! Here's a quick review.

deb...@jff-webhosting.net wrote:

 - Enable hardening=+all

But the line is commented out in debian/rules!

 - Remove section for not included spyder2 firmware.
 - Rewrite for use of upstream build system.
   * debian/control:
 - Set myself as maintainer.
 - Update Build-Depends:
   + Remove automake | automaken
 - For previously not existing Vcs
+ Create a new git repository on alioth.
   + Add the fields Vcs-Browser and Vcs-Git.
 - Change Priority from optional to extra.
 - Remove useless packages:
   + icc-utils
Now in argyll. Now only dummy package.

Please mention (transitional package) in the package's short description,
and perhaps also in the long description (This package is a transitional
dummy package. instead of This package is a dummy package.)

   + libicc2 libicc-dev
Useless. Only linked to argyll icc-utils.
   + libimdi0 libimdi-dev
Useless. Only linked to argyll icc-utils.
   * Add debian/source/options:
 - Set compression to xz compression-level to 9 to save space.

xz is now the default, and 9 is too expensive at decompression-time for some
of the smaller devices where argyll can be useful (think of small ARM boards
driving televisions). It might be better just to remove debian/source/options
entirely...

   * debian/copyright:
 - Rewrite into DEP-5 format.
 - Add myself to the list of authors for debian/*.
 - Add missing licenses and authors.

A few comments on debian/copyright:
* Aladdin Enterprices should be Aladdin Enterprises
* usb/driver/* should be License: GPL-2 or LGPL-2 since the licenses aren't
  cumulative
* Richaerd Hughes should be Richard Hughes
* you could say License: libjpeg instead of License: other for jpg/*

   * debian/*.1
 - Move to debian/man/*.1.
   * debian/man/*
 - Rewrite the help2man generated man pages (Closes: #670857)
   * debian/patches/
 - New 110_dispwin_segfault.patch to prevent segfault by
   wrong parameter (Closes: #700253)

I see other patches as well... 15_jam.patch.org should be removed, along
with the various patches which are no longer used in the series file (and
you should clean up the series file too). In 110_dispwin_segfault.patch, is
there a link to the mailing list archives you could copy in the Forwarded
item?

Regards,

Stephen

Description : lightweight utility to instantiate objects in PHP

Doctrine Instantiator provides a simple API to build objects without directly
relying on the serialization hack that has been explicitly used by all of our
data mappers for quite some time.

It’s a needed dependency for phpunit-mock-object and will be
maintained inside the PHP PEAR (and Composer) team.

Bug#761497: pmount: bash completion not display any device

2014-09-14 Thread Eduard Bloch
Package: pmount
Version: 0.9.99-alpha-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

one note upfront: the current Sid version does not work either but it
hangs forever, shell tracing shows that there is a grep call with just
one argument (grep'ing stdin) so there must be some other problem.

Now the experimental version: it does not hang but simply does not
return any device. Shell log attached.

Eduard.

Bug#761498: ITP: piqi-ocaml -- Provides OCaml Bindings to the Piqi Serialization Format

2014-09-14 Thread Matthew Maurer
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Matthew Maurer mau...@matthewmaurer.org

* Package name: piqi-ocaml
  Version : 0.7.2
Upstream Author : Anton Lavrik alav...@piqi.org
* URL : http://piqi.org
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: OCaml
Description : Provides OCaml Bindings to the Piqi Serialization Format

Piqi is a multi-format data serialization system for OCaml.
It provides a uniform interface for serializing OCaml data structures to
JSON, XML and Protocol Buffers formats.
..
This package provides the necessary programs and libraries to write OCaml
programs which use data serialized in Piqi compatible formats.

This package is useful as the primary gateway between OCaml code and
Protocol Buffer serialized data. As such, it is important to keeping those two
languages able to speak efficiently to others.

piqi-ocaml has as a dependency not yet in debian - piqi
 - ITP #761343
 - RFS #761486
 - https://mentors.debian.net/package/piqi

My hope is that long term maintenance could be supported by the OCaml Team.

Bug#638822: smb.conf: acl related options need mount flags in fstab (acl, user_xattr)

2014-09-14 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Petter Reinholdtsen]
I tested a modified version of patch, and it did not work as expected.
I fixed the typo in the recipe, but only the user_xattr option showed
up in the fstab. the acl option was missing. I have no idea what can
 be done to fix this.

I had a closer look, and I believe the problem is that ext4 is not
listed as supporting acl in d-i. I am not quite sure, but believe the
file /lib/partman/mountoptions/ext4 contain the list of recognized
options for ext4, and in this file 'acl' is missing.

This make me believe the proper fix is for us to add both options in
our recipes, and then check if the package providing the
/lib/partman/mountoptions/ext4 should be extended to list acl. I'll
commit this to git.

Is the acl option still needed with ext4?

Thanks, but it looks like you forgot to bump the translation-check (the
smart_changes.pl script may help for that).

Oh, I didn't know about that. Many thanks for pointing that out. It's quite
tough to get back a critique with each and every patch I'm sending, but
please, do keep the critique coming, I appreciate it very, very much. That
way I'm able to learn how to do it properly. I hope there will be a day
where I'll be delivering impeccable patches, but until then: many, many
thanks for reviewing my faulty patches and letting me know!

Attached is the improved version, with a smart_changes.pl run.

Attached is the patch for the missing japanese version. Now all the
(existing) translations should be in sync wrt this specific change.

Could you please apply?

Oh, I forgot to mention: thanks to NOKUBI Takatsugu who sent us the

6 years later, it seems 1.50 is
still the version of this package in Sid. This bug with springs being at
the top of the level is really annoying and kind of ruins the game.

You could try to package version 1.51 yourself based on the current
packaging. Actually the package needs a complete update to newer
packaging helpers like dh-sequencer. Several bugs could be addressed in
this process. You are more than welcome to join the team. I'm sure there
would be someone who could help you on your way.

Bug#761501: partman-ext3: add acl mount options for ext4?

2014-09-14 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: partman-ext3
Version: 78
Severity: wishlist
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: debian-edu

Hi. In bug report #638822 we discuss the wish to add user_attr and acl
as file system options in Debian Edu to make samba exporting work
better. But this do not work with d-i, as the acl option is not listed
in the /lib/partman/mountoptions/ext4 file. According to the mount
manual page, ext4 support the [no]acl option in a way that is backward
compatible with ext3 and ext2.

Would it be possible to add acl to the list of supported options in
ext4?

Bug#758863: plasma-nm: NM applet significantly delays KDE logon, does not connect to WiFi properly thereafter

2014-09-14 Thread Ralf Jung
Hi,

since I upgraded plasma-nm from 0.9.3.3-4 to 0.9.3.4-1, logging in to KDE is
 significantly delayed:
The splash screen shows the first three icons, but after showing the blue
 globe, it stops.
Only ~5-10sec later, logging in goes on. When the splash screen disappears,
 there's a window
asking for the password of a wireless network (even though I stored that PW
 in the wallet).
When I Cancel that window, the KWallet password dialogue appears. However,
 the applet
still shows the wireless as not being connected.

Upstream said they fixed the problem:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338513

Kind regards
Ralf

Patch attached for it (ideally upstream could also drop src/x-sgf.xml

This has been forwarded [1] and accepted upstream.

Also, if you pull a newer upstream snapshot, it would fix the

Hi,

first of all, the behaviour of update-mime-database is correct: it
deletes files in *generated* directories.

Yes, the various application, audio, text, subdirectories under
/usr/share/mime are business of update-mime-database, where it
places

the XML mimetypes generated from the XML definitions in
/usr/share/mime/packages. It is exactly in this directory where
applications should install XML definitions of mime types to have
them

registered in the XDG mime type system.
Installing stuff directly to e.g. /usr/share/mime/text is like
installing to, say, /var/cache (i.e., you shouldn't).

Furthermore, qgo is installing wrong things, and I will send the
proper explanation and fix to #749582.

This is not a bug in shared-mime-info, hence closing.

Ah, that's interesting. But then:

* why are those directories in /usr/ and not in /var/ in the first
place ? Isn't this part of the shared-mime-info spec against the
  spirit of the FHS ?

Possibly, although changing at this point is not exactly an easy
task.

* if it is deemed the right place for generated files, then we
surely want a lintian check to spot the problem early

Feel free to file a wishlist bug for lintian.

* the update-mime-database manpage is quite terse, and does not
explain that different parts of MIME-DIR have different roles.
It is awkward to have to read the spec to get such important
  information

I guess you are referring to the update-mime-database man page, right?
This seems just specific to the tool itself, so IMHO what it lacks is
pointers to the specifications.
Another option would be having the specifications themselves as man
page.

Bug#760884: RFS: astroquery/0.2.1-1 [ITP]

2014-09-14 Thread Gijs Molenaar
casacore data is this page:

ftp://ftp.atnf.csiro.au/pub/software/measures_data/measures_data.tar.bz2

linked from this page:

https://code.google.com/p/casacore/wiki/BuildInstructions

According to astron is updated weekly, but in practice that is not the case.

The people at astron use measures_data.csh to create the new measures data.
But since they didn't update the measures data for a while I created a new
measures_data manually.

So the way I see it, casacore is required to create the measures_data
(casacore-data) source tarball, but there is no build dependency on it.

I'll go to astron next week and I hope to get some more clarity about these
issues.

The reason is that you need to build the casacore-data package from source.

The source files are the ones that may be downloaded by casacore's
 measures_data.csh (right?)

To build the package one needs to apply the measures_data program to it,
which is integrated in the casacore framework, and this creates the
 dependency.

Bug#750910: Status of sitplus (Was: Bug#750910: sitplus: Please update to use wxwidgets3.0)

2014-09-14 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Olly,

upgrading sitplus requires packaging libsitplus first and base the new
sitplus on this lib. I plan to work on this but I'm not sure when I'll
be able to get this done. If all else fails we will miss the package in
Jessie.

Thanks for the ping anyway

  Andreas.

I guess yes if you would clarify the role of libsitplus. Is this
something sitplus would depend from or just an extract for those who
simply want to link their own programs against it?

libsitplus is a library that sitplus depend from. There is another
project [1] that uses it, so I generated a library.

Just a gentle prod as we're now down to two packages left needing
an upload for the wxwidgets3.0 transition (audacity is the other,
 and is also in progress).

Rereading the discussion, I understand the current plan is to update
the package and maintain it with Cesar's help going forwards, but
that the maintainers would be OK with removing it for jessie if it
came to it - is that a fair summary?

 Cheers,
 Olly

Actually this issue can be triggered without having to involve
 sysvinit-core.

Simply installing cgmanager when systemd v215 is the active PID 1, will
 break the running systemd instance.

It looks like cgmanager is incompatible with v215.

Either this should be fixed, or the native .service file dropped and the
sysv init script be changed to exit 0 if systemd is the active PID 1.

Why not mask cgmanager instead? That is, just ship the symlink

  /lib/systemd/system/cgmanager.service - /dev/null

in the cgmanager package.

Bug#761506: ITP: r-cran-acepack -- GNU R package for regression transformations

2014-09-14 Thread Dirk Eddelbuettel
Package: wnpp
Owner: Dirk Eddelbuettel e...@debian.org
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: r-cran-acepack
  Version : 1.3.3.3-1
Upstream Author : Phil Spector, Jerome Friedman, Robert Tibshirani, and
Thomas Lumley
* URL or Web page : http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/acepack/index.html
* License : MIT
Description : GNU R package for regression transformations

The package was in Debian from 2004 until ~ 2012 when we withdrew it as it
had been orphaned upstream, and hence been removed from the CRAN network.

It is back on CRAN now, with a new [upstream] maintainer. I refreshed
debian/copyright, the rest is unchanged.

The package is again a Build-Depends on package r-cran-hmisc which has also
been in Debian since 2004.

Dirk
