Bug#761473: digikam: Crash at startup with Floating point exception
Hi, I installed gdb and was able to continue with the crash reporting assistant which found similar KDE bugs: 332721, 331506 and 331450 (all duplicates of each other, the last one seems to be the master bug). Those bugs seem to imply that the issue is in Exiv2 shared lib, especially in video metadata parser. Bug#761474: please add installation instructions
Package: powerline Version: 0~20140216-1 Severity: wishlist Hello Jerome, so I've installed powerline, but neither is now my command line any different nor is vim's. What now? So next thing to do is to go to /usr/share/doc/powerline and see, wheter there's a README.Debian or any other userful documents helping with installation. But no, there isn't very much help there either. There's a README.rst.gz (What's 'rst'? Should that maybe be 'first'?), however it only refers to online documentation that contains a lot of stuff: installation via pip, patching fonts et cetera. So maybe 'man powerline'? No success there either. Could you please include some user friendly installation documentation? Or otherwiser maybe refer directly to the relevant documentation sections in the online docu? On more question: are you intending to maintain that package? Bug#752277: basic security support for section contrib
Hi Security Team, I see that flashplugin-nonfree/1:3.2 is still in Debian stable (not removed and not replaced by the available 1:3.2+wheezy1), and the feedback I got so far is basically that contrib is not supported by the Security Team, even that the infrastructure for allowing contrib packages to go to stable via security.debian.org would currently even not be in place. I regret that. Can I help in the Security Team to provide some basic security support for contrib? Note that the FAQ currently states this : https://www.debian.org/security/faq#contrib | If it is possible to fix the problem, and the package maintainer or someone | else provides correct updated packages, then the security team will generally | process them and release an advisory. In this case I'd like to see this bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=752277 fixed with the minimal changes in this package. https://people.debian.org/~bartm/flashplugin-nonfree/D5C0FC14/flashplugin-nonfree_3.2+wheezy1_amd64.changes Please let me know how I could help. Bug#748321: ITP: raceintospace -- free software version of the Liftoff! board game
Dariusz Dwornikowski dariusz.dwornikow...@cs.put.poznan.pl writes: Since the package depends on physfs 2.1, which has not been release yet, we need to wait for the upstream of physfs to release 2.1 and for the package to be in Debian. For now, raceintospace is ready in pkg-games git and can go to Debian when physfs is ready. Thanks for your efforts in packaging raceintospace. I've noticed that Hedgewars used to have a similar problem, which they've solved by adding a compatibility layer for PhysFS 2.0. Using this as a starting point, I saw that only one more function had to be provided, which I backported from the 2.1 branch with some minor modifications. With the attached patch, raceintospace compiles and runs with the PhysFS library from sid. The compatibility layer checks for the version number of PhysFS, so once 2.1 is packaged, the code should automatically stop being included. Thanks for that Hendrik, I will test it and preppare a release if it is ok. The only slight drawback is that Hedgewars is GPL-2 only, so it will no longer be possible to ship raceintospace binaries as GPL-2+. But since this is only a temporary situation, I think this can be justified. Yeah I think so. On the other hand I can see that physfs is not very actively developed so we could wait a little bit. diff -ruN -x .git -x .pc raceintospace.orig/lib/CMakeLists.txt raceintospace/lib/CMakeLists.txt --- raceintospace.orig/lib/CMakeLists.txt 2014-09-13 13:54:07.680088605 +0200 +++ raceintospace/lib/CMakeLists.txt 2014-09-12 23:07:12.263649649 +0200 @@ -124,9 +124,9 @@ # I want 2.1 features, even if they're not out yet, so I made my own tarball #set (physfs_Version 2.0.3) #set (physfs_URL http://icculus.org/physfs/downloads/physfs-${physfs_Version}.tar.bz2) -set (physfs_Version 2.1.0-pre20121013) -set (physfs_URL https://s3.amazonaws.com/willglynn/physfs-${physfs_Version}.tgz) -set (physfs_Dir ${CMAKE_CURRENT_BINARY_DIR}/physfs-${physfs_Version}) +#set (physfs_Version 2.1.0-pre20121013) +#set (physfs_URL https://s3.amazonaws.com/willglynn/physfs-${physfs_Version}.tgz) +#set (physfs_Dir ${CMAKE_CURRENT_BINARY_DIR}/physfs-${physfs_Version}) # physfs 2.0.3 complains about FSPathMakeRef et al being deprecated, and warnings are treated as errors # Turn it back into a warning instead @@ -134,14 +134,14 @@ set (physfs_Flags -Wno-error=deprecated-declarations) endif (APPLE) -ExternalProject_Add(ext_physfs - DOWNLOAD_DIR ${CMAKE_CURRENT_BINARY_DIR}/downloads - URL ${physfs_URL} - PREFIX ${physfs_Dir} - CMAKE_ARGS -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH=${LocalPrefix} -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_7Z=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_GRP=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_WAD=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_HOG=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_MVL=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_QPAK=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_ISO9660=false -DPHYSFS_HAVE_CDROM_SUPPORT=false -DPHYSFS_BUILD_SHARED=false -DPHYSFS_BUILD_TEST=false -DCMAKE_C_FLAGS=${physfs_Flags} - ) +#ExternalProject_Add(ext_physfs +# DOWNLOAD_DIR ${CMAKE_CURRENT_BINARY_DIR}/downloads +# URL ${physfs_URL} +# PREFIX ${physfs_Dir} +# CMAKE_ARGS -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH=${LocalPrefix} -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_7Z=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_GRP=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_WAD=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_HOG=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_MVL=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_QPAK=false -DPHYSFS_ARCHIVE_ISO9660=false -DPHYSFS_HAVE_CDROM_SUPPORT=false -DPHYSFS_BUILD_SHARED=false -DPHYSFS_BUILD_TEST=false -DCMAKE_C_FLAGS=${physfs_Flags} +# ) -add_dependencies(libs ext_physfs) +#add_dependencies(libs ext_physfs) ### diff -ruN -x .git -x .pc raceintospace.orig/src/game/CMakeLists.txt raceintospace/src/game/CMakeLists.txt --- raceintospace.orig/src/game/CMakeLists.txt2014-09-13 13:54:07.684088605 +0200 +++ raceintospace/src/game/CMakeLists.txt 2014-09-13 13:05:05.191946197 +0200 @@ -55,6 +55,7 @@ news_suq.cpp options.cpp pace.cpp + physfscompat.cpp place.cpp port.cpp prefs.cpp diff -ruN -x .git -x .pc raceintospace.orig/src/game/file.cpp raceintospace/src/game/file.cpp --- raceintospace.orig/src/game/file.cpp 2014-09-13 13:54:07.688088605 +0200 +++ raceintospace/src/game/file.cpp 2014-09-12 23:15:22.191673360 +0200 @@ -4,6 +4,7 @@ #include stdexcept #include file.h +#include physfscompat.h #define m_phys_handle ((PHYSFS_File*)m_handle) diff -ruN -x .git -x .pc raceintospace.orig/src/game/filesystem.cpp raceintospace/src/game/filesystem.cpp --- raceintospace.orig/src/game/filesystem.cpp2014-09-13 13:54:07.688088605 +0200 +++ raceintospace/src/game/filesystem.cpp 2014-09-12 23:32:07.607722019 +0200 @@ -8,6 +8,7 @@ #include raceintospace_config.h #include filesystem.h +#include physfscompat.h using boost::format; diff -ruN -x .git -x .pc raceintospace.orig/src/game/physfscompat.cpp raceintospace/src/game/physfscompat.cpp ---

Hi, request-tracker4 doesn't carry its own copy of any third party libraries, and shouldn't. I've marked this bug as affecting request-tracker4 thought which should mean it shows up when people look for bugs against that. Bug#749582: #749582: qgo installs a generated file
retitle 749582 qgo: installs a generated XML mime type tag 749582 + patch thanks Hi, the real issue is in qgo itself. What happens is that qgo is installing a generated XML mime type [1] directly to /usr/share/mime/text, without its XML mime type definition in /usr/share/mime/packages, so update-mime-database will just remove /usr/share/mime/text/x-sgf.xml (and the rest of the content of that directory) at the next run, without creating a new XML mime type. Furthermore, the generated mime type definition is installed with the wrong file name even, since a text/go-sgf mime type should be in /usr/share/mime/text/go-sgf.xml. On the other hand, shared-mime-info is already providing a mime type for *.sgf files, called application/x-go-sgf, and already shipped for many years already (the latest change to that was in 2007, so since shared-mime-info 0.20+). Thus, the fix is to just not install that generated XML file anymore, since as it is now is a) useless (it has no definition, so gets removed by update-mime-database) b) harmful (it conflicts with an existing mimetype shipped by shared-mime-info) Patch attached for it (ideally upstream could also drop src/x-sgf.xml altogether). Ah, side note while I looked at qgo' sources: src/sgf.desktop, which gets installed to /usr/share/mimelnk, is a KDE 3 only mime type, so there is not much use for it. [1] you can see the self-explaining !--Created automatically by update-mime-database. DO NOT EDIT!-- comment in x-sgf.xml Thanks, -- PinoAuthor: Pino Toscano p...@debian.org Description: stop installing generated XML mime type x-sgf.xml is a generated XML mime type without a proper definition, so installing it in one of the directories of generated XML mime types causes its deletion at the next update-mime-database run. . Furthermore, shared-mime-info is providing application/x-go-sgf for *.sgf files since many years, so there is no need for a mime type for it. Bug#761428: linux-image-3.16-1-amd64: [regression] SD card reader in Asus X53SM does not work anymore
Hi, It seems to be enabled through CONFIG_MFD_RTSX_USB, which I don't see anywhere in the Debian packaging (svn sid branch). [...] It is enabled. But the new driver's author forgot to include the device ID list in the module metadata. So the driver should work if loaded by running 'modprobe rtsx_usb', but it won't currently be auto-loaded by udev. Indeed, after loading the module manually, the SD card can be mounted. Bug#761473: libkexiv2-11: Crash with Floating point exception on special mp4 videos
reassign 761473 libkexiv2-11 4:4.14.0-1+b1 severity 761473 normal retitle 761473 libkexiv2-11: floating point exception on special mp4 videos stop Hello again, I finally found where the problem is coming from (well, kind of): I had downloaded mp4 files recorded on a Galaxy S with a CM11 firmware, and the files have a format which seems quite special, as vlc, avplay and mplayer have also their problem with those films BUT they don't crash! Whereas digikam and gwenview both do crash on a directory with those files (and don't without them), meaning the issue is indeed rather at lib(k)exiv level. As the bug reports I referred to seem to hint at the fact that libkexiv is responsible for error handling, here we are! I can share privately the offending files if someone is willing to fix the issue, which is less important than initially thought. I hope all the bug control commands are correct... Those bugs seem to imply that the issue is in Exiv2 shared lib, especially in video metadata parser. This would mean that the bug should be reassigned to package libexiv2-13, I guess, but it's difficult for me to judge if the bug is really the same. I also attach the backtrace of the crash. The problem seems to lie in the lower layers of interfacing with latex. I found no other hints of problems with my texlive-full installation : sage in emacs correctly displays its results, pdflatex correctly compiles whatever I throw in its direction (including Sagetex example an manual). Bug#760532: libcgi-psgi-perl: Does not work for request-tracker4
Dear Dominic, request-tracker4 doesn't carry its own copy of any third party libraries, and shouldn't. Seems I misunderstood the meaning of http://bugs.debian.org/693821 . I've marked this bug as affecting request-tracker4 thought which should mean it shows up when people look for bugs against that. Thanks. After doing more testing I think this is more a problem with okular rather than texmaker. Texmaker and evince generate the exactly same printouts while okluar print outs are stretched and misplaced. Bug#760523: Broken link on Debian Jr. Page

Thanks, but it looks like you forgot to bump the translation-check (the smart_changes.pl script may help for that). Oh, I didn't know about that. Many thanks for pointing that out. It's quite tough to get back a critique with each and every patch I'm sending, but please, do keep the critique coming, I appreciate it very, very much. That way I'm able to learn how to do it properly. I hope there will be a day where I'll be delivering impeccable patches, but until then: many, many thanks for reviewing my faulty patches and letting me know! Attached is the improved version, with a smart_changes.pl run. Attached is the patch for the missing japanese version. Now all the (existing) translations should be in sync wrt this specific change. I meant via security.debian.org, not via stable proposed-updates. Bug#638822: smb.conf: acl related options need mount flags in fstab (acl, user_xattr)
[Petter Reinholdtsen] I tested a modified version of patch, and it did not work as expected. I fixed the typo in the recipe, but only the user_xattr option showed up in the fstab. the acl option was missing. I have no idea what can be done to fix this. I had a closer look, and I believe the problem is that ext4 is not listed as supporting acl in d-i. I am not quite sure, but believe the file /lib/partman/mountoptions/ext4 contain the list of recognized options for ext4, and in this file 'acl' is missing. This make me believe the proper fix is for us to add both options in our recipes, and then check if the package providing the /lib/partman/mountoptions/ext4 should be extended to list acl. I'll commit this to git. Is the acl option still needed with ext4? -- Happy hacking Petter Reinholdtsen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#758863: plasma-nm: NM applet significantly delays KDE logon, does not connect to WiFi properly thereafter
Hi, since I upgraded plasma-nm from 0.9.3.3-4 to 0.9.3.4-1, logging in to KDE is significantly delayed: The splash screen shows the first three icons, but after showing the blue globe, it stops. Only ~5-10sec later, logging in goes on. When the splash screen disappears, there's a window asking for the password of a wireless network (even though I stored that PW in the wallet). When I Cancel that window, the KWallet password dialogue appears. However, the applet still shows the wireless as not being connected. On 2014-09-14 13:28, Yann Dirson wrote: On Sun, Sep 14, 2014 at 10:12:41AM +0200, Pino Toscano wrote: Hi, first of all, the behaviour of update-mime-database is correct: it deletes files in *generated* directories. Yes, the various application, audio, text, subdirectories under /usr/share/mime are business of update-mime-database, where it places the XML mimetypes generated from the XML definitions in /usr/share/mime/packages. It is exactly in this directory where applications should install XML definitions of mime types to have them registered in the XDG mime type system. Installing stuff directly to e.g. /usr/share/mime/text is like installing to, say, /var/cache (i.e., you shouldn't). Furthermore, qgo is installing wrong things, and I will send the proper explanation and fix to #749582. This is not a bug in shared-mime-info, hence closing. Ah, that's interesting. But then: * why are those directories in /usr/ and not in /var/ in the first place ? Isn't this part of the shared-mime-info spec against the spirit of the FHS ? Possibly, although changing at this point is not exactly an easy task. * if it is deemed the right place for generated files, then we surely want a lintian check to spot the problem early Feel free to file a wishlist bug for lintian. * the update-mime-database manpage is quite terse, and does not explain that different parts of MIME-DIR have different roles. It is awkward to have to read the spec to get such important information I guess you are referring to the update-mime-database man page, right? This seems just specific to the tool itself, so IMHO what it lacks is pointers to the specifications. Bug#760884: RFS: astroquery/0.2.1-1 [ITP]
casacore data is this page: ftp://ftp.atnf.csiro.au/pub/software/measures_data/measures_data.tar.bz2 linked from this page: https://code.google.com/p/casacore/wiki/BuildInstructions According to astron is updated weekly, but in practice that is not the case. The people at astron use measures_data.csh to create the new measures data. But since they didn't update the measures data for a while I created a new measures_data manually. So the way I see it, casacore is required to create the measures_data (casacore-data) source tarball, but there is no build dependency on it. I'll go to astron next week and I hope to get some more clarity about these issues. 2014-09-14 10:53 GMT+02:00 Ole Streicher oleb...@debian.org: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Am 14.09.2014 um 10:49 schrieb Gijs Molenaar: Maybe one step back, why does casacore-data depend on casacore? It is just some data that could be used without casacore itself right? Why not remove the dependency? The reason is that you need to build the casacore-data package from source. The source files are the ones that may be downloaded by casacore's measures_data.csh (right?) To build the package one needs to apply the measures_data program to it, which is integrated in the casacore framework, and this creates the dependency. Bug#750910: Status of sitplus (Was: Bug#750910: sitplus: Please update to use wxwidgets3.0)
Hi Olly, upgrading sitplus requires packaging libsitplus first and base the new sitplus on this lib. I plan to work on this but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get this done. If all else fails we will miss the package in Jessie. Thanks for the ping anyway Andreas. On Sat, Sep 13, 2014 at 11:03:47AM -0300, Olly Betts wrote: On Tue, Aug 26, 2014 at 09:38:02AM +0200, Cesar Mauri wrote: Changes are available in git repo, branch develop. If needed I could prepare several tarballs. Is enough? I guess yes if you would clarify the role of libsitplus. Is this something sitplus would depend from or just an extract for those who simply want to link their own programs against it? libsitplus is a library that sitplus depend from. There is another project [1] that uses it, so I generated a library. Just a gentle prod as we're now down to two packages left needing an upload for the wxwidgets3.0 transition (audacity is the other, and is also in progress). Rereading the discussion, I understand the current plan is to update the package and maintain it with Cesar's help going forwards, but that the maintainers would be OK with removing it for jessie if it came to it - is that a fair summary? Bug#761389: breaks shutdown when switching from systemd-sysv to sysvinit-core
Michael Biebl bi...@debian.org writes: Am 13.09.2014 um 15:53 schrieb Michael Biebl: Looking at v215, it seems as if starting cgmanager as part of the installation messes up the running systemd state. When triggering reboot, (i.e. poking /dev/initctl), I get the following: Actually this issue can be triggered without having to involve sysvinit-core. Simply installing cgmanager when systemd v215 is the active PID 1, will break the running systemd instance. It looks like cgmanager is incompatible with v215. Either this should be fixed, or the native .service file dropped and the sysv init script be changed to exit 0 if systemd is the active PID 1. Why not mask cgmanager instead? That is, just ship the symlink /lib/systemd/system/cgmanager.service - /dev/null in the cgmanager package. Bug#761506: ITP: r-cran-acepack -- GNU R package for regression transformations
Package: wnpp Owner: Dirk Eddelbuettel e...@debian.org Severity: wishlist * Package name: r-cran-acepack Version : 1.3.3.3-1 Upstream Author : Phil Spector, Jerome Friedman, Robert Tibshirani, and Thomas Lumley * URL or Web page : http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/acepack/index.html * License : MIT Description : GNU R package for regression transformations The package was in Debian from 2004 until ~ 2012 when we withdrew it as it had been orphaned upstream, and hence been removed from the CRAN network. It is back on CRAN now, with a new [upstream] maintainer. I refreshed debian/copyright, the rest is unchanged. The package is again a Build-Depends on package r-cran-hmisc which has also been in Debian since 2004.
