Bug#484545: RFH: mediawiki-extensions
Hi! Romain Beauxis schrieb: This package is a collection of extensions, and I don't use many of them that were requested by users. It has a quite nice synchronisation system to keep track of upstream changes. Apparently, some people would like to see more extensions packaged, but I don't feel really qualified since I don't use them. The package is team maintained, so I would be very happy to accept collaborations. Work required is mostly testing, the other things should go easy. I use mediawiki with some extension on several systems. I would be glad to help out. However, I won't have time to help much at least until early July. Sanchez [EMAIL PROTECTED] [080529 01:06]: I request an adopter for the httperf package. As of some time ago I have lost interest in the package and do not use it much anymore. The package first entered Debian nearly seven years ago and in that time has not seen a new upstream release. The project can be said to be feature complete, and so the lack of upstream activity is not a problem. The package is currently bug free and very easy to maintain. I have kept the package in svn since taking it over and would be glad to provide the entire svn history to whomever chooses to adopt this package. I would like to adopt your package and would like to keep it it in subversion (in the collab maint repository), so I would be interested in the svn history as well. (would still need to search through the documentation how to import that.) Many thanks for your work so far, indeed it's in a very fine condition! Bug#470979: bmpx: FTBFS with g++-4.3: Missing includes
Hi! Am 6.4.2008 schrieb William Pitcock [EMAIL PROTECTED]: This is fixed upstream, so I am waiting for the next release which is in a few days. Any news on this? You know, you could always upload/let upload a package with the patch and a the new upstream version later. BMPx 0.40.14 release is less than a week away. We tried to release today, but found a bug with internationalization. If this is a critical issue and it needs to be handled before then, feel free to do a 0day NMU; bmpx is marked as a LowThresholdNMU package. I will acknowledge the NMU when BMPx 0.40.14 is uploaded. Well, it's a release critical bug (since the gcc 4.3 suite is now the default compiler on several architectures), so IMHO it should be fixed ASAP. But since you are well aware of the bug and preperaing a fix for it, I don't think it's worth an NMU. Yours sincerely, Alexander Yours sincerely, Alexander

Bug#455673: Reopening
Hi! * James Vega [EMAIL PROTECTED] [080406 17:50]: The bug is still present as the patch only addressed one part of the gcc-4.3 incompatibilities. The gcc-4.3 fixes are a bit more invasive then should be handled in an NMU, IMO, and Simon has them fixed in the next upstream release, iirc. Uh? Of course I tried the patch before uploading, and the patch solved the problem for me. Tried on i386 using gcc/g++ 4.3 in sid. Yours sincerely, Alexander signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Package: mediawiki Version: 1.11.2-2 Severity: serious Hi! It would also be cool, if it could be further documented, on how to enable this feature (one needs to do something like psql wikidb /usr/share/postgresql/8.1/contrib/tsearch2.sql, after running config/index.php, but I'm not entirely sure, since I'm stuck with the error message: »Attempting to set default tsearch2 locale to de_DE.UTF-8... Bug#472987: [Pkg-mediawiki-devel] Bug#472987: mediawiki: Dependency not correct for usage with postgresql
reopen 472987 severity important thanks [ adjusting severity; might be a kind of panic reaction ] [ adding postgresql maintainers to CC for their input ] Hi Romain! Thanks for the very fast answer! * Romain Beauxis [EMAIL PROTECTED] [080327 17:04]: It seems to me that recommending postgresql-8.1 (or postgresql as 1:1.12.0-1 thankfully does) isn't enough, since you need not only to have a postgresql server, but also tspeak2 which seems to be in the respective postgresql-contrib package. Please try to read previous reports.. This was fixed with the latest 1.12.0 upload.. Small correction to my last message: s/tsepak2/tsearch2/ ;) Actually I did, and I think you refer to: * Changed postgresql recommends to postgresql package Closes: #469582 This allows mediawiki to be used with any version of the postgresql-Server, which is good. However: To run mediawiki on a postgresql-Server you seem to need tsearch2, which is shipped in a seperate package, namely postgresql-contrib. Without that package beeing installed, it just doesn't work. Beeing not really deep in postgresql myself, I'm not really sure, if changing the recommends from postgresql to postgresql-contrib is okay; postgresql-contrib depends on the proper postsql package, so the server would be pulled in, too. Maybe the postgresql maintainer can say something about that? It would also be cool, if it could be further documented, on how to enable this feature (one needs to do something like psql wikidb /usr/share/postgresql/8.1/contrib/tsearch2.sql, after running config/index.php, but I'm not entirely sure, since I'm stuck with the error message: »Attempting to set default tsearch2 locale to de_DE.UTF-8... Warning: pg_query() [function.pg-query]: Query failed: FEHLER: keine Berechtigung für Relation pg_ts_cfg in /usr/share/mediawiki/includes/DatabasePostgres.php on line 544 FAILED. Please make sure that the locale in pg_ts_cfg for default is set to de_DE.UTF-8« after running the above command.) Hey, I don't know anything related to postgre so I can hardly help.. Got it working :) Seems like the the configure script is not yet really working; after doing an GRANT ALL on pg_ts_cfg TO wikiadmin; the config script finished, and now I have a really nice mediawiki using my postgres-Database. However, the package is team-maintained, but I 'm currently the only member, so I would kindly accept new contributions/contributors :-) I'll set it on my todo-List, promised, but it might take some time for me to get back to you, since I'm quite busy at the moment. Package: debian-policy Version: 3.7.3.0 Severity: wishlist X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dear policy team, recently the get-orig-source target of debian/rules has been discussed on the debian-mentors list (see the threads starting with [1] and [2]). It seems the get-orig-source specific paragraph of section 4.9 should be improved to a bit more clearly and answer some open questions, too. Basically it boils down to two or three open questions: The first one being, if get-orig-source is intendedn to fetches the most recent version of the original source upstream wise or if it should fetch the most recent version debian wise. If the later is the case and of a package has a version in experimentatl, should get-orig-source fetch the version of experimental or from unstable? And last questions: Where should tools used in get-orig-source (e.g. bzip2 or unzip to repacke a tarball) be declared? As Build-Dependency? Anywhere else? Bug#465977: nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-source: driver works in principle, but sometimes (in games) graphiks are invisible
Package: nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-source Version: 96.43.01-2 Severity: normal Hi! This bug is kind of difficult to explain, and I have no idea, how to debugg it. I hope it helps anyways. The situation is as follows: I have an nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX - nForce GPU] (rev a3) graphics card (shipped with an Nforce2 mainboard) and builded the driver using module-assistant. It works quite well: 2D is not a problem at all, GL screensavers seem to work, too. However in most games using 3d I get to see only the background image. E.g. when I start ppracer, I get a blue screen, hear the music, but neither the menu nor the snow flakes are shown. That used to work, but I'm unsure which change made it stop. I think (nut haven't tried so yet), that it stopped working, when the legacy-96xx driver was splitted, since the normal one didn't support my graphics card any longer. Any idea, what I could try to solve the problem / get to know what's going wrong? Could you please clarify whether it is just an alternative to ppracer or whether it is a replacement? ppracer is upstream dead. Extreme Tuxracer is a fork from a beta-version of ppracer, which never made it stable. So it is a replacement, but since it seems to have quite higher hardware requirements, I consider having both in Lenny and removing ppracer after the Lenny release; (ppracer is in good shape and allthough unmaintained upstream no security risc). Hi! * Jonas Smedegaard [EMAIL PROTECTED] [080212 17:42]: ...but also, we'd really want to have a usable tool widely available for educational use _now_ rather than whenever you/we succeed in refactoring the code for a more general scope. That might be a working interim solution, but is IMHO a bit ugly. So maybe a common library might be an idea for the future? I'll try to give it a go tomorrow. So I propose the following: 1. Hi! * Michael Koch [EMAIL PROTECTED] [070926 21:50]: License is GPL, I'm not sure though whether all art work is free. Great game (though buggy sometimes...) ! Alexander Schmehl did some prelimiary packages some time ago. But due to the legal issue with the art work he stopped. Please clear the legal situation with upstream before doing more work. Last time we asked upstream dont seem to care really. That's one reason. An other are some libraries, which were shipped as precompiled jar files in the source tarball (IIRC I couldn't find neither their source nor their license), and because I lost interest more or less, when I found out, that it would be only a contrib package, since it would need an dependency on sun's java :( Preliminary packages are still available at http://people.debian.org/~tolimar/tmp/freecol/, feel free to base your work on them, I won't find to take care of them. Bug#436325: ppracer: FTBFS: error: tcl.h: No such file or directory
tag 436325 -patch +confirmed thanks [adding tcltk maintainers to cc list] Hi Cyril! Sorry, I think your patch tag is a bit to fast; at least I'm not yet sure if it's ppracers fault, nor if what's the proper way to fix it. * Cyril Brulebois [EMAIL PROTECTED] [070807 03:23]: this is due to the empty -I flag. It looks like it comes from the following configure.in snippet: (else case). | if test x$with_tcl_inc != x; then | TCL_CFLAGS=-I$with_tcl_inc | AC_MSG_NOTICE([Using custom TCL headers directory: $with_tcl_inc]) | else | TCL_CFLAGS=-I$TCL_INC_DIR $TCL_INCLUDE_SPEC | fi Indeed, TCL_INCLUDE_SPEC contains the appropriate path, whereas TCL_INC_DIR is empty. I guess it is sufficient to conditionally add ``-I$TCL_INC_DIR'' only if TCL_INC_DIR isn't empty. After editing src/Makefile manually: -CXXFLAGS = -g -O2 -I/usr/include/SDL -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_REENTRANT -I -I/usr/include/tcl8.4 -I/usr/include/freetype2 +CXXFLAGS = -g -O2 -I/usr/include/SDL -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/include/tcl8.4 -I/usr/include/freetype2 I've been able to build successfully the .deb's, so I guess you can focus on fixing configure.in's code. I'm not yet sure if it's ppracer configure beeing wrong. It's sourcing /usr/lib/tcl8.4/tclConfig.sh to get those variables, and the script shipped with tcl8.4-dev_8.4.12-1.1 did contain TCL_INC_DIR. The one shipped with tcl8.4-dev_8.4.15-1 does not. So I'm wondering, why Tcls behaviour changed? Lucas, have there been other Tcl related FTBFS? BTW: We don't need to patch configure, Makefiles or configure.in; calling configure with --with-tcl-inc=/usr/include/tcl8.4/tcl-private/generic works, too. But before uploading with that change, I would really like to hear input from tcl maintainers. Yours sincerely, Alexander signature.asc Description: Digital signature

tags 436325 +fixed +pending thanks Hi! * Sergei Golovan [EMAIL PROTECTED] [070807 18:00]: I'm not yet sure if it's ppracer configure beeing wrong. In fact, it was forgotten during a package upgrade, and I think it will be restored in the next upload. But anyway, it's a hack, and if the application doesn't use internal Tcl headers then it would be better to use TCL_INCLUDE_SPEC variable, which expands to -I/usr/include/tcl8.4 (and this directory certainly contains tcl.h). Thanks for the fast response. Will do so! Yours sincerely, Alexander -- http://learn.to/quote/ http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#435288: planetpenguin-racer: New upstream version of ppracer (0.5) exists for about 2 years !
Hi! * Mantas Kriaučiūnas [EMAIL PROTECTED] [070730 21:21]: There is new version from http://developer.berlios.de/projects/ppracer/, and, according to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53299 : [..] it is better to ship that than 0.3.1, which is getting very stale. Some reasons to ship the newer one: -0.3.1 won't let you bind non alphanumeric keys, 0.5 does I don't think thats a major problem... it's not that you would have that much functions you need to bin to keys. Would be nice, but not a major problem, isn't it? -0.3.1 has a bug that has been fixed, where hitting enter allows the user to enter any race, even if they shouldn't be allowed. That's bug #433377, a patch exists and will most likely be applied with the next upload. -0.5 has more flexibility in the options menus Okay, I confess that's a good argument. -despite being labeled an alpha release, I've had no problems with 0.5 When I tested it two years ago, I had. Didn't worked very well (couldn't even finish one level; http://www.planetpenguinracer.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bugs lists some more issues). But considering that ppracer upstream is inactive, I have a very bad feeling about uploading an alpha release (which didn't worked for me) while the only good argument in favour of it I see is the more flexible options menu. I would rather wait, if the follow up project at http://www.planetpenguinracer.com stays alive and get's something released; didn't had to to check their version, yet. BTW: Since the Format of the levels changed from 0.3.1 to 0.5 someone would need to convert all the levels in the -extras package (as well as the ones I have on hold for the next upload for the -extras package). Yours sincerely, Alexander PS: A good point in favour would be, that 0.5 drops the TCL dependency. An other point against it, is the own squirrel library shipped with the 0.5 stuff. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

New sparc porting machine added to the network That's mostly interesting for developers, and could be send to d-d-a. . IPv6 available for security servers . volatile archive moving, down for one day . backports now supports packages for etch and sarge That's interesting for our users, too. I don't know, why it should be hidden on d-d-a. If it's planed a bit ahead it could have been added to the dwn; IMHO at least Ipv6 and backports could have been send to -news; while I don't think volatile moving is something which should be send to news.
