Hello Paul,

thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with this bug
report.
Unfortunately, I do not have a scanner available to investigate the error.

The scanner is not listed in [1]. However, under the only Kyocera scanner listed
there it says "1 pass, ??? dpi, A4", which IMHO points to your error.

Please contact the developers directly at [2].

Bug#1051496: mailgraph: does not support the new syslog format

severity 1051496 normal

Hello Michael,

thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with this bug
report.

We are using mailgraph one multiple server with Debian Bullseye, Bookworm and
Trixie without any failure.

Therefore I set the severity to normal.

Please can you provide more details about your error? A depersonalized excerpt
of the log files and the installed dependencies are important.

I have been using Vincent Driessen's branching model and the corresponding git
extension gitflow-avh for at least 7 years with Debian and for a long time at
work.

The default branch is master and development takes place in the develop branch.

The release candidates are managed in the branch release. The extension
debian/debian-version is used as a tag during the transfer.

The master branch always contains the last published executable version to which
the git tag in debian/control points.

The procedure is described in the README.debian.

Hello Samuel,

can you please check the new upstream release for changes in the symbols file.

Unfortunately I do not have access to a musl-any-any system.

The sources are on mentors

 dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libu/libunistring/libunistring_1.2-1.dsc

and in git

 git https://git.jff.email/cgit/libunistring.git/?h=release%2Fdebian%2F1.2-1

Thanks in advance.

Here are the answer from upstream:

[quote]
> This is a strong indication that the library explicitly breaks the API.

These symbols have the prefix 'libunistring_', which effectively makes
them private symbols. They are *not* part of the API or ABI, as you can see
by searching the header files for these symbols.

> Please can you check whether the SONAME needs to be changed.

The library's major version number does *not* need to be bumped.
I considered this question when making this commit:

Bug#1059396: PGP/GPG handling wrong

2023-12-24 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Package: evolution
Version: 3.50.2-1
Severity: critical

I send all my e-mails with a PGP signature.

If the recipient replies including my signature, the email is
displayed as "partially signed with GPG" and the reply is hidden.

This is incorrect, as it suggests that the reply is partially
signed correctly, but this is fundamentally wrong, as the signature
does not originate from the sender.

In addition, despite the incorrect signature, only the incorrectly
signed text is displayed and not the reply.

Hello Andrew,

the ipmitool code in this area has not changed for years. If I remember
correctly, there was a change in the shell where a parameter was activated by
default.

Can you escape the outer "? Like this

ipmitool sel time set \"$(date "+%m/%d/%Y %T")\"

Bug#1058465: ipmitool package is missing enterprise-numbers.txt

2023-12-13 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Hello,

the enterprise-numbers.txt file is not part of the ipmitool sources.

You have to download the file manually (see man - page).

Since version 1.8.19-5 the file is included in the Debian package, but may be
outdated.

So I close this bug.

Bug#1057470: Outdated rkhunter since 2018-02

2023-12-05 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Hello Francois,

I did not search for Vulnerabilities. However, I am of the opinion that using
rkhunter in its current form is equivalent to using a 6 year old virus scanner
and therefore involves an increased security risk.

Bug#1057470: Outdated rkhunter since 2018-02

2023-12-05 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Package: rkhunter
Version: 1.4.6-11

Hello,

I noticed that the program and the data available on the internet are from
2018-02.
So almost 6 years old data suggests a non-existent security.

My suggestion would therefore be to remove rkhunter from sid and trixie.

Hello Patrice

thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with this bug
report.

Since I can't reproduce the bug here, I forwarded the report to Upstream. And
since packages from Experimental are used, the severity was set to minor.

To investigate the problem further, please provide us with a list of installed
Experimental packages.

Hello,

I'm looking for the transition from libunistring2 to libunistring5 due to
an upstream SONAME bump in the new release.

The build of the reverse-dependency fails with clisp. The corresponding ftbfs
bug #1026820 was opened on December 21, 2022 and today the severity was raised
to serious.

The build of the other packages from testing for the reverse dependencies are
ok:

 - guile-2.2 ok
 - guile-3.0 ok
 - libidn2 ok

Hello Quarus,

thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with this bug
report.

In 2017, libsane was renamed to libsane1.

Epson has also had 6 years to adapt their programs accordingly.

I therefore close this bug.

Bug#1033308: ipmitool: Upstream project archived, developer blocked from github?

2023-03-23 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Thank you for your advice.

It is normal that repositories are temporarily unavailable or move to
another host.

It is not my job, nor Debian's, to tell the upstream where to put the
repository.

I therefore close this bug.

Bug#1013933: Keep xsane out of Debian releases

2023-02-08 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Hello Adrian,

I was hoping that the upstream will manage to fix the problems until
the new release sane-backends. So far it doesn't look like that
unfortunately.

I therefore close this bug so that in xsane can be published in
bookworm.

I am happy to continue to maintain xsane.

Hello Elimar,

first of all I would like to apologize for my late reply. I had a lot
of work with a hoster change and the simultaneous conversion from cloud
based to dedicated server.

With Debian it is not possible to download external data during the
build. Therefore the enterprise-numbers.txt must always be downloaded
manually.
