Bug#998737: gnote: Timestamp is not in ISO 8601 format
Package: gnote Version: 3.38.0-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I observed synchronization errors with Tomdroid (Android app using Tomboy's note format) with notes changed by the latest (Debian Bullseye) version of GNote. I was able to track the this particular problem down to a tag in the note file: "last-change-date" ("last-metadata-change-date" is also affected). AFAIK, these should be in ISO 8601 format, which requires zero padded hour / minute / second values. However I see timestamps not following this rule. For example: 2021-11-07T11:10:3.396594Z How to reproduce: change a note in the first 9 seconds of a minute. I don't know, if this causes problems with any other application using the note format. I'm also not sure, if this problem directly relates to GNote or a library used internally to handle timestamp "serialization" / XML writing. -- System Information: Debian Release: 11.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-9-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU threads) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_CPU_OUT_OF_SPEC, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages gnote depends on: ii dconf-gsettings-backend [gsettings-backend] 0.38.0-2 ii libatkmm-1.6-1v5 2.28.0-3 ii libc62.31-13+deb11u2 ii libgcc-s110.2.1-6 ii libglib2.0-0 2.66.8-1 ii libglibmm-2.4-1v52.64.2-2 ii libgspell-1-21.8.4-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.24.24-4 ii libgtkmm-3.0-1v5 3.24.2-2 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.46.2-3 ii libpangomm-1.4-1v5 2.42.1-1 ii libsecret-1-00.20.4-2 ii libsigc++-2.0-0v52.10.4-2 ii libstdc++6 10.2.1-6 ii libuuid1 2.36.1-8 ii libxml2 2.9.10+dfsg-6.7 ii libxslt1.1 1.1.34-4 gnote recommends no packages. gnote suggests no packages.

2017-04-01 18:20 keltezéssel, Boszormenyi Zoltan írta: The best clean alternative would be add new resource handling infrastructure. * Expose the currently static alloc_resource() in kernel/resource.c With this, driver initialization can allocate the resource once for the lifetime of the driver and it it fails, (unfinished sentence) then the failure is during driver initialization, not during runtime, possibly days or weeks later. * Add a new insert_muxed_region() / __insert_muxed_region() function with different semantics from request_muxed_region() / __request_region(): 1 Accept a pointer to already allocated resource. 2 If the conflicting resource doesn't have IORESOURCE_MUXED set, complain loudly in the syslog but still go into the wait queue. The conflicting resource also has the name which can be printed so the inconsistent resource / region usage can be fixed. We can also just modify the __request_region() semantics, so: 1 It accepts a pointer to an allocated resource or NULL. In the second case, the resource is allocated internally and can still fail. 2 The above second point. But this may cause an error in code that expects the old semantics. The window for request_muxed_region()+release_region() is so short that the requested I/O port range would not show up in /proc/ioports. All this would be to fix only 3 drivers in a no-error scenario and only achieving the functionality of a mutex seems to be overkill. Another alternative is to revert commit 2fee61d22e606fc99ade9079fda15fdee83ec33e that caused the regression in sp5100_tco in the first place. Best regards, Zoltán Böszörményi

When request_muxed_region() is used consistently, subsequent requests are put on a wait queue and the first one is woken up when the region is released. So, it's basically a mutex. Am I missing something here? Yes. failure to allocate the resource is one. So, a common mutex should be used. Just because you don't want to check for errors ? I am not on favor of your new solution. I think it violates layering all over the place, and I dislike the idea of having a global mutex as you propose. I won't shut it down, but I'll let others provide feedback on your new series of patches. It's not because I don't want to check for errors, it's about avoiding them. It's not my favourite either but there is a lot of weight in existing code. You cannot avoid layering violations if multiple driver subsystems use their respective functionality in devices in multiplexed way. The biggest problem is that quirk functions, including usb_amd_quirk_pll() has the "void" return type so there is no way to indicate errors to the callers in case of an error. The best clean alternative would be add new resource handling infrastructure. * Expose the currently static alloc_resource() in kernel/resource.c With this, driver initialization can allocate the resource once for the lifetime of the driver and it it fails, * Add a new insert_muxed_region() / __insert_muxed_region() function with different semantics from request_muxed_region() / __request_region(): 1 Accept a pointer to already allocated resource. 2 If the conflicting resource doesn't have IORESOURCE_MUXED set, complain loudly in the syslog but still go into the wait queue. Am Freitag, den 03.03.2017, 11:17 +0100 schrieb Wolfram Sang: Unfortunately, commit 2fee61d22e (i2c: piix4: Add support for multiplexed main adapter in SB800) [1] caused a regression. Tim reported that to the Linux Kernel Bugtracker as bug #170741 last September [2], but it looks like the affected subsystems don’t use it. Jean Delvare pointed out this issue amongst others[1] last year already. Let me quote: === 5* The I/O ports used for SMBus configuration and port switching are also needed by a watchdog driver, sp5100_tco. Both drivers request the region, so the first one wins, and the other driver can't be loaded. sp5100_tco was there first, so the changes done to the i2c-piix4 driver recently will cause a regression for some users by preventing them from using the sp5100_tco and i2c-piix4 drivers at the same time. In the long run I guess we will need a helper module to handle this shared resource. Unless IORESOURCE_MUXED can be used for that. Either way, that's more work than I can put into this before kernel v4.5 is released. For the time being, I think we should simply make it non-fatal if the I/O ports can't be requested, and continue without multiplexing (as before.) === Seems nobody had the resources, so far. I still don’t understand, why Jean then not immediately reverted the commit to adhere to the Linux Kernel’s no-regression-policy. I don't have the HW and not much experience with non-embedded platforms. I wonder, though, if we really need to convert the drivers to MFD ones, or if we could use the simpler MFD_SYSCON mechanism which helps in exactly such cases for embedded platforms. But I am really lacking details here and am afraid this is probably all the input I can give currently. Zoltan stepped up, and uploaded a patch for review to the Kernel.org Bugzilla [2], also attached to this message. Please don't send patches as attachments. request_muxed_region() can fail, and literally every other driver using it checks for that failure. Please do the same. In what circumstances can request_muxed_region() fail? As far as I can see, only if two drivers use the same I/O port base and the already present region did not use IORESOURCE_MUXED which is not the case here. When request_muxed_region() is used consistently, subsequent requests are put on a wait queue and the first one is woken up when the region is released. So, it's basically a mutex. Am I missing something here? Alternatively, the original "piix4_mutex_sb800" mutex can be moved out to its own file and used by both drivers. This way, request_muxed_region() would not be needed at all among these two drivers. The third option is to remove the request_*region() calls and the mutex completely. After all, drivers/usb/host/pci-quirks.c::usb_amd_quirk_pll() also uses this I/O port pair and this is done without request_*region() or locking. It is for some AMD devices, SB800 included, for which the function accesses the same I/O ports used by both i2c-piix4 and sp5100_tco. /* * The hardware normally enables the A-link power management feature, which * lets the system lower the power consumption in idle states. * * This USB quirk prevents the link going into that lower power state * during isochronous transfers. * * Without this quirk, isochronous stream on OHCI/EHCI/xHCI controllers of * some AMD platforms may stutter or have breaks occasionally. */ static void usb_amd_quirk_pll(int disable) This function is hidden behind two wrappers: usb_amd_quirk_pll_disable() and usb_amd_quirk_pll_enable() and these are used from: drivers/usb/host/ohci-q.c drivers/usb/host/xhci-ring.c drivers/usb/host/ehci-sched.c The sp5100_tco_dev_name change in the watchdog driver is unnecessary. request_muxed_region() requires a const char * name to be passed. sp5100_tco uses a different DEVNAME for the two device generations. I wanted to preserve this distinction but dev_name is local to sp5100_tco_setupdevice() and it would have been an overkill to call tco_has_sp5100_reg_layout() every time the code executes request_muxed_region(). Are you saying that this distinction is unnecessary, too? I would prefer a single DEVNAME that just contains the driver name. Less code, less confusion. There are some unnecessary { } in the watchdog driver after the patch is applied. True, there are two places. Please split the patch into two patches so they can be reviewed and applied separately. Likely I will, but I would like to hear the others' opinion, too. 1. a single patch with a single goal: protect I/O port access for SB800 across the whole kernel 2. patch series for same goal for the two drivers separately (or three if pci-quirks.c needs to change as well) and A) a common mutex across the two (three) drivers in
Bug#853122: sp5100_tco: I/O address 0x0cd6 already in use
Hi, I have converted both i2c-piix4 and sp5100_tco to use request_muxed_region() and use it instead of request_region(). The mutex lock / unlock around port I/O accesses in i2c-piix4 were replaced by request_muxed_region() / release_region(), it works in a similar way. The same treatment was added to sp5100_tco. I sent the patch to two bugzillas: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170741 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1406844 It works for me, please test it. Bug#843806: evolution - EWS mails not sent
Package: evolution Version: 3.22.1 (testing) Usually, at first use, EWS emails are not sent. Sending is not completed, it gets stuck. I have to cancel sending, then retry sending. Usually it works for the second time. Using Office 365 EWS service. Using Debian GNU/Linux 3.22.1 (stretch) kernel: Linux 4.7.0-1-686-pae

Package: evolution Version: 3.22.1 (testing) When replying to a chain of cited e-mails, after adding a couple of empty lines with the button [Enter] in the reply e-mail, the older e- mails simply vanish. Undo won't restore them in the composing window. No common-sense / user-friendly way to avoid automatic deletion of cited older e-mails. SERIOUS PROBLEM. Affects core usability of the package / software. Using Debian GNU/Linux 3.22.1 (stretch) kernel: Linux 4.7.0-1-686-pae

Bug#840480: cryptsetup initramfs hook warning with multiple encrypted physical volumes
Package: cryptsetup Version: 2:1.7.2-3 I have a volume group with 2 physical volumes named ssd.luks and spin.luks. Both are encrypted with luks. This is the only VG in the system, and it contains all filesystems. When I run update-initramfs, I get this warning: update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.7.0-1-amd64 cryptsetup: WARNING: invalid line in /etc/crypttab for ssd.luksspin.luks - This happens because when there are multiple luks devices in a volume group, they are printed without space so the names get concatenated, and the concatenated device is not found. Bug#746229: cifs-utils: first attempt at mount.cifs after reboot fails
I can confirm the bug on a fresh Jessie install (amd64). And the problem is even worse, than the bug report states, as it happens from time to time, unrelated to the boot time. I use autofs automounter, and the first access of any of the automount directories always fails. Next attempt successful. Changing samba debug level to 10, these were the first different log lines: Create local NT token for sambauser [2015/04/26 22:16:05.532690, 10, pid=3036, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0), class=tdb] ../source3/lib/gencache.c:296(gencache_set_data_blob) Adding cache entry with key=[IDMAP/SID2XID/S-1-5-21-1926378044-615406353-1386413454-1000] and timeout=[Thu Jan 1 01:00:00 AM 1970 CET] (-1430079365 seconds in the past) Create local NT token for sambauser [2015/04/26 22:17:13.532059, 10, pid=3071, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] ../source3/lib/idmap_cache.c:56(idmap_cache_find_sid2unixid) Parsing value for key [IDMAP/SID2XID/S-1-5-21-1926378044-615406353-1386413454-1000]: value=[-1:U] The first (Adding cache) was a failure, the second (Parsing value) was a success. After some more debugging, it turned out that the problem lies somewhere around winbindd. After stopping winbindd, all worked fine. As I don't need it, I even uninstalled the whole package, but others might not be so lucky to be able to live without it. I can attach the full logs, if needed. Bug#752681: laptop-mode-tools: The new runtime-pm management is enabled in more situations than usb-autosuspend
On Mon, 21 Jul 2014 10:49:56 +0530 Ritesh Raj Sarraf r...@researchut.com wrote: On 07/21/2014 08:31 AM, Adam Lee wrote: No. You should not be disabling runtime pm management. By doing that you tell the kernel to do no power savings. Which is not good. Exactly, I don't want the power savings when AC is plugged in. Autosuspend is so broken that linux kernel disables it by default, not enabling it by laptop-mode-tools when AC is plugged in might be a good idea(only a suggestion). Blacklisting will work. Try it. It works for me. Yes, blacklisting does work, but the problem is that the default behavior of the system has changed in a very undesirable way, and it's very hard for a non-expert to figure out how to fix it. On every optical mouse I've came across (several different manufacturers) the autosuspend works by turning off the mouse LED. After that the mouse stays suspended until a button is pressed, which wakes up the mouse and turns the LED back on but it goes to sleep again after the prescribed autosuspend delay. This is a new an unexpected behavior, and although I consider myself an experienced expert user, it took a long time to find the source of the problem as I also run into the no longer used usb-autosuspend module that is still there giving you a false hope that you can fix it there. A possible solution would be to allow a blacklist based on the product name (found in the product file in /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/product) and look for something like *Optical*Mouse* in the product name to blacklist. It would be nice if optical mice would behave as before, since that's what most people would prefer and expect. There are also issues in the /usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/runtime-pm script, it assumes that the $runtime_device variable does not contain spaces. Unfortunately, on my system there is a file called /sys/bus/platform/devices/Fixed MDIO bus.0 Note the spaces in the name. The shell by default does word splitting on variables. All uses of $runtime_device should be quoted (and not only that but also any function that takes such a device as an argument should handle names with spaces), list the blacklisted, whichlisted, listed_by_id, listed_by_type etc. functions, they all use unquoted variables at the moment. Unfortunately to support names with spaces, the script probably needs some more invasive changes. The current module gives me error messages like: sirius /home/hzoli # service laptop-mode reload /usr/sbin/laptop_mode: 108: [: /sys/bus/platform/devices/Fixed: unexpected operator /usr/sbin/laptop_mode: 115: [: /sys/bus/platform/devices/Fixed: unexpected operator /usr/sbin/laptop_mode: 118: [: /sys/bus/platform/devices/Fixed: unexpected operator [ ok ] Laptop mode disabled, not active. /usr/sbin/laptop_mode: 108: [: /sys/bus/platform/devices/Fixed: unexpected operator /usr/sbin/laptop_mode: 115: [: /sys/bus/platform/devices/Fixed: unexpected operator /usr/sbin/laptop_mode: 118: [: /sys/bus/platform/devices/Fixed: unexpected operator [ ok ] Laptop mode enabled, not active. The experimental cinnamon package is still uninstallable, even though it seems most (if not all) the required parts have been uploaded to ftp-master, nut the ITP requests are still pending? Is there any way to download the pending packages? Is there any side repository that can be used for testing? Bug#691665: [squeeze] Under CentOS 6.3 as a host OS Debian kernel hangs as a guest OS (KVM-QEMU)
Hi Jonathan, Thanks for your reply. I just tried to boot the original squeeze kernel (2.6.32) in recovery mode (kernel commandline argument single). Single mode makes no difference, it hangs with 6 vcpus at the same place. Here is a screenshot where it hangs: http://www.tssajo.com/debug/kernel-2.6.32-single.png (I can still hit enter then the cursor moves down, but that's all.) With just 4 vcpus it starts up fine. I would test this issue with the latest kernel from experimental. Can you please help me install that kernel? I'm sorry, I've never installed anything before from the experimental repo. I've added this line already to my apt sources file: deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian experimental main and did the apt-get update When I try to install the actual kernel, I get errors, see: # apt-get -t experimental install linux-image-3.5-trunk-amd64 linux-base firmware-linux-free initramfs-tools Reading package lists... Jonathan, I have good news. Debian Linux works perfectly with the 3.5.5 kernel! I've tried with 6 and 8 vcpus and 8GB of RAM assigned to the VM and it boot up very fast without incident every time I've tried. Please let me know how do you want me to proceed. Should we try to find out why this kernel works with more than 4 vcpus while the 2.6.32 kernel (and 3.2 from backports) does not? Or should I just try to use the 3.5.5 kernel in production environment - I know it is not recommended as the latest kernel is not well tested... What do you recommend? You can go ahead an forward it, sure. One more question: how can I install a kernel from the snapshot archive? So I see the remote server's console through all these layers and I am not sure what is capturing these keystrokes? Maybe Windows or VMware is intercepting the PrintScreen key or the Ubuntu desktop? Who knows? So I'm not sure I can send this key combination to the actual server... Joys of virtualization. ;-) Do you mind if I forward this information to the bug log? Jonathan, I did some tests with the binary kernels I have found in the snapshot.debian.org package archive. If I would change the amount of RAM to 6GB it would most likely boot up almost all the time. But if I would add 2 or 4 more vcpus then it would never boot up that's for sure. It always stuck at the same point, right there when the Linux agpgart interface v0.103 should be displayed by the kernel. I'm talking about the 3.2.x.x kernel installed inside the guest from Debian backport. With the stock 2.6.32 kernel of Debian it also consistently hangs at the same point (the console log is slightly different using that kernel, though). And of course when the VM boots up it works just fine. Besides the above problem I never experience any crashes inside or outside the VM. The CentOS host systems seems to be rock solid. I have spent several days researching this issue on the net to no avail. I really hope that some KVM guru who knows the Linux kernel inside out could help me with this. Any help would be highly appreciated! Thank you, Zoltan PS: At least one other person is experiencing the exact same problem. He has pinned it down to the Debian kernel which runs as the guest. Bug#679966: Possible security issues and a temporary fix
More info: this is not an upstream issue, it's caused by the handle-removed-working-dir.patch which is an attempt to fix #667038. Besides chopping off the last path component of any cd ../name command, it also does sfprintf(shp-strbuf,oldpwd) which is a problem if oldpwd contains printf formatting escapes, which probably could be exploited. Workaround is to remove handle-removed-working-dir.patch which would then reopen #667038. -Zoltan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#591895: There are two problems with the handle of USB
Hi Ben, I tried with the kernel 2.6.32-19 and it didn't recognize the pendrive (but it didn't even stop the play of the DVD). Although it is not an error, because there are 4+1 (internal share) in the description of PCI-USB extension card, so in case of being a tool on the inner port the outer port isn't useable due to the share. So if you agree the bug can be closed. Greetings hz 2010/8/6 zoltan herman formin...@gmail.com On Fri, 2010-08-06 at 11:29 +0200, zoltan herman wrote: 1. Bug#585826: general: gnome trash is full
Hi, unfortunately, I did not logged it, but I suppose it was some simple thing (it was not possible to delete the file). My download has stopped, because the HDD was full(free space 300Mb) I was deleting some files: there were 2 iso files, both files were 4.4GB and there were further 2 files, each 700 Mbyte and some minor files. I deleted and tried to empty the trash, but it was not successfull. I succeeded in deleting the /local/../files in the end (by console command). I will retrieve the information if the exact message is needed. Bug#584238: linux-image-2.6.32-3-486: When using USB to Ethernet nework adapter later on get error: blocked for more than 120 seconds
It is not help if I unplug and plug in again the network adapter, it is not recognised by the kernel anymore. I'm forwarding this to the pegasus driver developers so they can comment on it. Debian kernel version 2.6.32-9 is closely based on stable kernel 2.6.32.9. It seems that the developers dont' responds for this bugreport at all. Is the pegasus kernel driver a dead project now? There in their projectpage: http://pegasus2.sourceforge.net/ one can see that that pegasus is available only for kernels 2.4 and 2.5 but not for 2.6, right? If it is not working as expected, it is not a problem of breaking the system doing administrative tasks. This is named a bug. More than that, if udev was really running, it should work as expected and detect the USB devices (mouse, touchpad and keyboard in my case) which are already connected, instead of requiring them to be disconnected and reinserted. Also, udev and other services should not disconfigure things if they are already loaded and something tries to load them again. It should be just show error message, abort loading and go. AFAIK, Xorg and evdev in particular have been pested by bugs related to HAL devices detection for a while, and nobody solves them.

My USB external CD-RW drive can't be seen by any CD writer software (another bug), and after some googling I tried to ensure that hal and udev were working. In the Gnome's Services dialog, udev and udev-mtab appear UNticked (but ps aux | grep udev shows udevd --daemon three times for the root user). Ticking the udev checkbox caused gdm to lock miserably in the following boot. The USB mouse could get live again after being disconnected and reconnected, but the keyboard would not work by any means. With the mouse working again, I could choose to suspend the computer, then right after waking it up (which does not bring the X screen automatically, but a blinking cursor instead -- would this be another bug?) I could do Alt+F1 and edit gdm.conf for enabling autologin; so I could go have Gnome's Services dialog again for unticking the udev checkbox. Bug#517461: cups: USB backend permission problem, printing fails
Package: cups Version: 1.3.8-1lenny4.1 Severity: important Installed lenny a few weeks ago, system was updated daily. After connecting a USB printer (DYMO LabelWriter 400), tried to install it from KDE control center. The USB subsystem recognized it, the usb devices were created. However installation didn't let me choose the local printer (parallel, serial, USB), that option was disabled, greyed out. Also tried to install it via the web interface (localhost:631), no possibility to choose USB printer again, but the system recognized the printer somehow, and allowed me to install it via some HAL device. The test page couldn't be printed, Permission denied. Deleted the printer, tried to reinstall it, and used the special uri for the USB interface: usb://DYMO/LabelWriter%20400?serial=06090210440126 , exactly the same as the one on my other lenny machine (an older installation, but also updated regularly), which works perfectly with the same printer. The printer was installed, but the test page couldn't be printed, permission denied. After checking the device permissions I've found the following (on both of my machines): crw-rw 1 root lp 180, 0 2009-02-27 12:25 /dev/usb/lp0 After changing the permission to 666, all works fine, kcontrol shows the local printers again. But on my older machine the whole thing works as 660. Then I've done some process traces, and found that cupsd runs as root:root, but when I try to print something, it forks a process, which runs as lp:root (both uid:gid and euid:egid)! That process obviously has no permission to open /dev/usb/lp0. Then I've tried to compare the two cupsd.conf files, but they differ quite a lot, many options missing from the old config compared to the new one. Finally I tried to change the Group parameter from lpadmin to lp. cupsd restart, and immediately all works fine with permission 660. kcontrol printer installer shows the local printer, and printing is possible. This Group parameter doesn't appear in the old config file, and don't know what its default value is. So, there you have a workaround, or fix, but I'm not sure, and don't have the knowledge to tell, what other things might this parameter change break (the description of the Group parameter in the manpage of cupsd.conf is not clear). Bug#495960: [php5] PHP gets stuck after executing code
Package: php5 Severity: important --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hi, On our server, PHP gets stuck after executing the source file, both CLI and run from Apache. The code is run correctly, but after it PHP (and the Apache process with it) can not exit. It even happens with an empty source, like echo | php. Using strace I tracked down the problem to a futex() call, but I don't know how could I fix it. Please see the result of the following command attached: echo | strace php 2php-strace.log It's a 64-bit system, if that matters. (I'm afraid it does...) Any advice? Bug#459136: asn1c new upstream version
Package: asn1c Version: 0.9.21.dfsg-3 Severity: wishlist A new version 0.9.22 is available in the svn repository of the project: https://asn1c.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/asn1c/trunk/ On the project page you can find the changes since last release (0.9.21): http://asn1c.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/asn1c/trunk/ChangeLog?revision=HEAD 0.9.22: 2007-Jun-29 * Added -pdu=all and -pdu=type switches to asn1c. * Added PER support for most known-multiplier string types: IA5String, VisibleString, PrintableString, BMPString, UniversalString; useful types: GeneralizedTime, UTCTime, ObjectDescriptor; as well as REAL and OBJECT IDENTIFIER. TODO: SET type. * Added PER support for extensions in SEQUENCE. * Multiple enhancements by Daniele Varrazzo [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Fixed explicit tagging of an in-lined constructed type. (Severity: low; Security impact: none). * Memory leak fixed in SET OF / SEQUENCE OF when wrong encoding is encountered. (Severity: medium; Security impact: low) * Fixed extensibility handling of second SEQUENCE production. (Severity: low; Security impact: none) * Added DEFAULT handling for known multiplier string. * Added a sample OMA ULP decoder (./examples/sample.source.ULP). * Added full-width 32-bit integer encoding support in PER. The most missing feature in current version is the full-width 32-bit integer encoding support in PER. It would be good to have this change in the official repository. Thanks, --Zoltan

Did you reproduce this problem recently? With Xorg/Etch? With latest xserver-xorg-core and input drivers in unstable? Does it help if you remap buttons with xmodmap or so? Thanks, Brice
Bug#392864: xserver-xorg: horizontal mouse wheel doesn't work, acts like vertical
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.0.22 Severity: normal My mouse is an A4Tech WOP-35 optical mouse with two wheels. I use the ExplorerPS/2 protocol with Buttons 9 and ZAxisMapping 4 5 6 7. Both wheels work fine under Sarge with these settings, but the horizontal wheel doesn't work under Etch as it should: it simply acts like a vertical wheel. I've tried several different settings of the Buttons and the ZAxisMapping options, nothing changed. Using xev I can see, that both wheels send the same button events, buttons 4 and 5, although the horizontal wheel should send 6 and 7 (as it does under Sarge). I use the binary nvidia driver (1.0-8774) I can send logs and/or my full configuration if necessary, although I couldn't see anything faulty in them (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) Zoltan -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17.13 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages xserver-xorg depends on: ii debconf 1.5.5 Debian configuration management sy ii x11-common1:7.0.22 X Window System (X.Org) infrastruc ii xbase-clients 1:7.1.ds-3 miscellaneous X clients ii xkb-data 0.8-12 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii xserver-xorg-core 1:1.0.2-9 X.Org X server -- core server ii xserver-xorg-input-al 1:7.0.22 the X.Org X server -- input driver ii xserver-xorg-input-ev 1:1.1.2-3 X.Org X server -- evdev input driv ii xserver-xorg-input-kb 1:1.0.1.3-2X.Org X server -- keyboard input d ii xserver-xorg-input-mo 1:1.0.4-3 X.Org X server -- mouse input driv ii xserver-xorg-video-al 1:7.0.22 the X.Org X server -- output drive ii xserver-xorg-video-ap 1:1.0.1.5-2X.Org X server -- APM display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-ar 1:0.5.0.5-2X.Org X server -- ark display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-at 1:6.5.8.0-1X.Org X server -- ATI display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-ch 1:1.0.1.3-3X.Org X server -- Chips display dr ii xserver-xorg-video-ci 1:1.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- Cirrus display d ii xserver-xorg-video-cy 1:1.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- Cyrix display dr ii xserver-xorg-video-du 1:0.1.0.5-2X.Org X server -- dummy display dr ii xserver-xorg-video-fb 1:0.1.0.5-2X.Org X server -- fbdev display dr ii xserver-xorg-video-gl 1:1.0.1.3-3X.Org X server -- Glint display dr ii xserver-xorg-video-i1 1:1.1.0.5-2X.Org X server -- i128 display dri ii xserver-xorg-video-i7 1:1.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- i740 display dri ii xserver-xorg-video-i8 1:1.5.1.0-2X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx ii xserver-xorg-video-im 1:1.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- IMSTT display dr ii xserver-xorg-video-mg 1:1.2.1.3.dfsg.1-2 X.Org X server -- MGA display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-ne 1:1.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- Neomagic display ii xserver-xorg-video-ne 1:0.1.4.1-3X.Org X server -- Newport display ii xserver-xorg-video-ns 1:2.7.6.5-2X.Org X server -- NSC display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-nv 1:1.0.1.5-2X.Org X server -- NV display drive ii xserver-xorg-video-re 1:4.0.1.3.dfsg.1-2 X.Org X server -- Rendition displa ii xserver-xorg-video-s3 1:1.8.6.5-2X.Org X server -- S3 ViRGE display ii xserver-xorg-video-sa 1:2.0.2.3-4X.Org X server -- Savage display d ii xserver-xorg-video-si 1:1.3.1.5-3X.Org X server -- SiliconMotion di ii xserver-xorg-video-si 1:0.8.1.3-2X.Org X server -- SiS display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-si 1:0.7.1.3-2X.Org X server -- SiS USB display ii xserver-xorg-video-td 1:1.1.1.3-3X.Org X server -- tdfx display dri ii xserver-xorg-video-tg 1:1.0.0.5-3X.Org X server -- TGA display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-tr 1:1.0.1.2-2X.Org X server -- Trident display ii xserver-xorg-video-ts 1:1.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- Tseng display dr ii xserver-xorg-video-v4 0.0.1.5-1 X.Org X server -- Video 4 Linux di ii xserver-xorg-video-ve 1:1.0.1.3-2X.Org X server -- VESA display dri ii xserver-xorg-video-vg 1:4.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- VGA display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-vi 1:0.1.33.2-3 X.Org X server -- VIA display driv ii xserver-xorg-video-vm 1:10.11.1.3-2 X.Org X server -- VMware display d ii xserver-xorg-video-vo 1:1.0.0.5-2X.Org X server -- Voodoo display d Versions of packages xserver-xorg recommends: ii discover1 1.7.18 hardware identification system ii laptop-detect 0.12.1 attempt to detect a laptop pn mdetect none (no description available) pn xresprobe none (no description available) -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL
