Bug#829752: lower the severity
Control: severity -1 whislist Hello I don't want to start a severity war, but I count on having netfilter-persistent when I install new systems using stretch. From the bts documentation [1] grave makes the package in question unusable or mostly so, or causes data loss, or introduces a security hole allowing access to the accounts of users who use the package. important a bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package, without rendering it completely unusable to everyone. normal the default value, applicable to most bugs. wishlist for any feature request, and also for any bugs that are very difficult to fix due to major design considerations. This bug is far from grave. It does not causes data loss, it does not allow access to accounts of users that use it (it won't protect other services but that's a bug on the services itself or plain misconfiguration) Therefore, I'm downgrading this bug severity to whislist. I think it would be a good idea to have a debconf question asking if the user wants the behavior requested in this bug report. If the user says YES then create the file /lib/systemd/system/networking.service.d/30_netfilter-persistent.conf effectively disabling the network if the firewall fails to load. The default answer for that debconf question should be NO. Bug#829752: I don't agree with the severity
Hello I don't agree with the importance of this bug, netfilter-persistent is just a shell script, it always was. I don't think is suited for inexperienced users as you have to write the iptables rules yourself. I think the package could do a better job advertising that it may fail and leave the machine exposed, but by default it should not change the policy to DROP if it fails to load the firewall. Actually, it may even fail to change the policy to DROP... If Jonathan agrees I'd lower this bug severity and try to upload it back to unstable. I fully agree with #829640. -- 1AE0 322E B8F7 4717 BDEA BF1D 44BB 1BA7 9F6C 6333 keybase: http://keybase.io/gfa signature.asc Description: PGP signature

Versions 0.9.8 also use documented, open format for the recordings. I have just re-enabled support for 0.9.8 on the server side to fix this problem, but I’d like to stop supporting it in the near future (unsafe http connection is the #1 reason). great, thanks Is there a chance to update this Debian package to the latest upstream version in not so distant future? the package is too old for 2 reasons - not long ago jessie was released, before that we were in freeze - 0.9.8 is the latest python version of asciinema. I never packaged a go application for debian before, it is on my TODO list but it will take more time (it is a new thing for me) Daniel, I'm sorry you found the program does not work, I haven't use it in a while so I wasn't aware of the breakage. Marcin, could you release a last python version, a patch is fine too, which uses https? Bug#779417: ITP: python-pytest-timeout -- pytest plugin to abort hanging tests
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: gustavo panizzo (gfa) g...@zumbi.com.ar * Package name: python-pytest-timeout Version : 0.4.0 Upstream Author : Floris Bruynooghe f...@devork.be * URL : http://bitbucket.org/flub/pytest-timeout/ * License : MIT Programming Lang: Python Description : pytest plugin to abort hanging tests. This is a plugin which will terminate tests after a certain timeout. When doing so it will show a stack dump of all threads running at the time. This is useful when running tests under a continuous integration server or simply if you don’t know why the test suite hangs. Note that while by default on POSIX systems py.test will continue to execute the tests after a test has timed, out this is not always possible. Often the only sure way to interrupt a hanging test is by terminating the entire process. As this is a hard termination (os._exit()) it will result in no teardown, JUnit XML output etc. But the plugin will ensure you will have the debugging output on stderr nevertheless, which is the most important part at this stage. See below for detailed information on the timeout methods and their side-effects. The pytest-timeout plugin has been tested on python 2.6 or higher, including 3.X and pypy. this package is a build-dependency of python-watchdog 0.8, i will need an sponsor (but i think i have one ;). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I just cloned and tried to build, here is some feedback. * Can you arrange for the git HEAD to point to debian/upstream branch? That way when it is cloned it is ready to build. good one, i've done it * The contents of the upstream tarball do not match the state of git at the upstream tag. Also d/gbp.conf sets compression to xz, but upstream is .tar.gz. This confused my build when I ran uscan and then attempted to build the package. Instead I had to delete the .orig.tar.gz fetched by uscan and let gbp create a different .orig.tar.xz from the git tag. This may be an accepted workflow that I'm not used to, but confused me when there is a d/watch with a tarball that breaks the build. i just compared upstream contents and they are the same. anyway i changed debian/watch to download from github (instead of using pypi). as i'm using it to build the package. * d/rules optionally includes openstack-pkg-tools, but it is not required (I can build without it) and is not listed in Build-Depends. I'm not familiar with openstack packaging, what purpose does including it serve? it should generate the changelog from the git log. i removed it (upstream provides a changelog file) * pybuild seems to be the preferred way to build Python packages now in Debian, I'd suggest packaging with that instead of python_distutils. It's as simple as adding dh-python to Build-Depends and changing buildsystem to pybuild. - https://wiki.debian.org/Python/Pybuild * I see asciinema supports both Python 2 and 3. If it doesn't matter to users which one is used, why not build it for Python 3 only? cool trick, i moved asciinema to python3 and pybuild :) thank you for taking the time to look at it -- 1AE0 322E B8F7 4717 BDEA BF1D 44BB 1BA7 9F6C 6333 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
