yes, that's (was) correct

I'm sorry but I no longer have access to that laptop, also I'm using
xdm now and it never failed (even after fsck)

feel free to close, as the issue was long time ago

thanks

Hello,

I'm sending my updates to my sponsor who will upload the package, after
that is yours to take it.

I'll defer to you decisions around some bugs I'd like to fix but I
think is better if a maintainer decides instead of a QA upload

Bug#829752: lower the severity

2016-09-21 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Control: severity -1 whislist

Hello

I don't want to start a severity war, but I count on having
netfilter-persistent when I install new systems using stretch.

From the bts documentation [1]

grave
makes the package in question unusable or mostly so, or causes data
loss, or introduces a security hole allowing access to the accounts
of users who use the package.

important
a bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package,
without rendering it completely unusable to everyone.

normal
the default value, applicable to most bugs.

wishlist
for any feature request, and also for any bugs that are very
difficult to fix due to major design considerations.

This bug is far from grave. It does not causes data loss, it does
not allow access to accounts of users that use it
(it won't protect other services but that's a bug on the services
itself or plain misconfiguration)

Therefore, I'm downgrading this bug severity to whislist.

I think it would be a good idea to have a debconf question asking if
the user wants the behavior requested in this bug report.
If the user says YES then create the file
/lib/systemd/system/networking.service.d/30_netfilter-persistent.conf
effectively disabling the network if the firewall fails to load.
The default answer for that debconf question should be NO.

Bug#833971: xautolock: diff for NMU version 1:2.2-5.1

2016-09-15 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Control: tags 833971 + pending

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for xautolock (versioned as 1:2.2-5.1)
I'll look for an sponsor and upload it.

I've tested the nmu on different desktop systems, I haven't observed any
issue in the last 2 days.

Regards.

Bug#829640: iptables-persistent: diff for NMU version 1.0.4+nmu1

2016-08-20 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Control: tags 829640 + patch
Control: tags 829640 + pending

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for iptables-persistent (versioned as 1.0.4+nmu1),
I'll look for an sponsor and upload it.

I worked with the git repo but I didn't push to alioth until you agree or the
updated package is on the archive.

I've tested this change on machines with different configurations IPv4,
IPv6, DCHP, SLAAC and it worked fine.
My firewall rules set the DROP policy, this change should not disrupt
any user that allows ESTABLISHED and RELATED connections.

Regards.

I plan to use git and keep the repo in collab-maint, I'm fighting
debconf. As soon as I have something I'll push to alioth

Bug#829752: I don't agree with the severity

2016-08-04 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Hello

I don't agree with the importance of this bug, netfilter-persistent is
just a shell script, it always was.
I don't think is suited for inexperienced users as you have to write
the iptables rules yourself.

I think the package could do a better job advertising that it may fail
and leave the machine exposed, but by default it should not change the
policy to DROP if it fails to load the firewall.

Actually, it may even fail to change the policy to DROP...

If Jonathan agrees I'd lower this bug severity and try to upload it back
to unstable. I fully agree with #829640.

Bug#832967: override: asciinema:utils/extra

2016-07-30 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Bug #832185

The section “python” is for packages that install the Python
programming language or libraries. Its packages are primarily of
interest only to Python programmers.

The package ‘asciinema’ installs primarily an application, of interest
regardless of the programming language. It should not be in the
“python” section.

Bug#809191: I won't upload this package

2016-07-29 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)

Hi there

I'm not going to upload this package as its no longer needed for
asciinema.

The git repo where I did the packaging is
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-go/packages/golang-github-creack-termios.git

Feel free to take over or contact me if any doubt arises.

cheers

Bug#830270: cdimage.debian.org: Provide localized versions of amd64/i386 netinst iso

2016-07-07 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Package: cdimage.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

While browsing www.debian.org it came to my attention than no matter
which language you choose to see the site, the green box in the top
right corner
always points to the same iso image,

http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/8.5.0/multi-arch/iso-cd/debian-8.5.0-amd64-i386-netinst.iso
(as today)

It made me wonder if we could provide images with localized isolinux
menus and default language
on d-i matching the language on the main website.

I wonder if the mirrors could host the extra amount of data, 46GiB
(image size = 557M * 86 languages).

Take this report as the 0.02$ of a non-native english speaker.

Hi Daniel

newer asciinema version, written in go, fails too but more gracefully

gustavo-nb:(1)~$ HOME=/foo asciinema
open /foo/.config/asciinema/config: no such file or directory

if $HOME/.config exists, $HOME/.config/asciinema/config will be created.

gustavo-nb:(1)~$ unset HOME
gustavo-nb:~gust9547$ asciinema
Need $HOME

I don't think it is a bug, *in version 1.1.1*, in 0.9.8 (the version
currently in the archive) it may be a bug.

2015-08-18 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Package: src:linux

since kernel 4.1 (I didn't test 4.0) wireless frequently disconnects and
does not reconnect by itself, I think the hardware restart does not work
as good as before. using kernel 3.16 this didn't happened

for example here

[25854.446926] ieee80211 phy0: Hardware restart was requested
[32280.403878] iwlwifi :24:00.0: L1 Enabled - LTR Disabled

until some time later when I manually restarted the interface it didn't
reconnect

is not a big deal to me, as I can boot my laptop with 3.16

Is there a chance to update this Debian package to the latest upstream
version in not so distant future?

the package is too old for 2 reasons

- not long ago jessie was released, before that we were in freeze
- 0.9.8 is the latest python version of asciinema.

I never packaged a go application for debian before, it is on my TODO
list but it will take more time (it is a new thing for me)

Daniel, I'm sorry you found the program does not work, I haven't use it
in a while so I wasn't aware of the breakage.

Marcin, could you release a last python version, a patch is fine too,
which uses https? I could upload that right away while I work on
packaging the latest version

also i want to say that i think hardening is not an important goal on
trinity, it does not listen on the network, it does not handle untrusted
data, etc. i will only mess with your syscalls

Render local readme files before sending off to GitHub.

Grip is a command-line server application written in Python that uses
the GitHub markdown API to render a local readme file. The styles also
come directly from GitHub, so you'll know exactly how it will appear.

I plan to maintain myself under collab-maint using a git based workflow, i will
need an sponsor.
I'm using the package myself from pip and is very useful, i will need to
package the missing dependencies too.

# update-rc.d neutron-server disable

Bug#779417: ITP: python-pytest-timeout -- pytest plugin to abort hanging tests

2015-02-28 Thread gustavo panizzo (gfa)
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: gustavo panizzo (gfa) g...@zumbi.com.ar

* Package name: python-pytest-timeout
  Version : 0.4.0
Upstream Author : Floris Bruynooghe f...@devork.be
* URL : http://bitbucket.org/flub/pytest-timeout/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : pytest plugin to abort hanging tests.

This is a plugin which will terminate tests after a certain timeout.
When doing so it will show a stack dump of all threads running at the
time. This is useful when running tests under a continuous integration
server or simply if you don’t know why the test suite hangs.

Note that while by default on POSIX systems py.test will continue to
execute the tests after a test has timed, out this is not always
possible. Often the only sure way to interrupt a hanging test is by
terminating the entire process. As this is a hard termination
(os._exit()) it will result in no teardown, JUnit XML output etc. But
the plugin will ensure you will have the debugging output on stderr
nevertheless, which is the most important part at this stage. See below
for detailed information on the timeout methods and their side-effects.

The pytest-timeout plugin has been tested on python 2.6 or higher,
including 3.X and pypy.

this package is a build-dependency of python-watchdog 0.8, i will need
an sponsor (but i think i have one ;).

i just found about you-get, but i found it can download and convert

China.
youtube-dl even it's latest version (not yet on debian) can't download
from those sites,

so, i would use your package i think is useful

* URL : https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/numad.git

Description : A user-level daemon that monitors NUMA topology and
processes resource consumption to facilitate good NUMA resource access of
applications/virtual machines to improve performance and minimize cost of
remote memory latencies.

numad is a daemon that monitor processes and their distribution on a
NUMA system, it will try to join all threads of the same process on the
same node (if memory allows it).

i use it on production for some time now, it give to me good results on
kvm virtual machines.

i plan to co-maintain it, but neither of the maintainers are DD so an
sponsor will be needed, i'm DM.

I do use sytemd and lightdm works just fine. Could you be a little
 bit more specific?

i've installed a new system from scratch and i can't reproduce the
error there, it most be something on my system.

after that, i've purged systemd and lightdm on the problematic system,
then reinstalled both and now works :)

I don't really understand here. It looks like a dependency issue,
but there's just not enough information.
yes, lightdm was started before /tmp/.X11 was created by tmpfiles, it
was an ordering issue

sorry for the noise, you can close this bug

Hi Gustavo, I may not be able to sponsor but I am interested in trying
this package out when it is uploaded. I just cloned and tried to build,
 here is some feedback.

 * Can you arrange for the git HEAD to point to debian/upstream branch?
That way when it is cloned it is ready to build.
good one, i've done it

 * The contents of the upstream tarball do not match the state of git at
the upstream tag. Also d/gbp.conf sets compression to xz, but upstream
is .tar.gz. This confused my build when I ran uscan and then attempted
to build the package. Instead I had to delete the .orig.tar.gz fetched
by uscan and let gbp create a different .orig.tar.xz from the git tag.
This may be an accepted workflow that I'm not used to, but confused me
when there is a d/watch with a tarball that breaks the build.

i just compared upstream contents and they are the same. anyway i
changed debian/watch to download from github (instead of using pypi). as
i'm using it to build the package.

 * d/rules optionally includes openstack-pkg-tools, but it is not
required (I can build without it) and is not listed in Build-Depends.
I'm not familiar with openstack packaging, what purpose does including
 it serve?

it should generate the changelog from the git log. i removed it
(upstream provides a changelog file)

 * pybuild seems to be the preferred way to build Python packages now in
Debian, I'd suggest packaging with that instead of python_distutils.
It's as simple as adding dh-python to Build-Depends and changing
 buildsystem to pybuild.

 * I see asciinema supports both Python 2 and 3. If it doesn't matter
to users which one is used, why not build it for Python 3 only?

cool trick, i moved asciinema to python3 and pybuild :)

thank you for taking the time to look at it

The single file approach in _renderers is less obtrusive and means that

Description : force-bind is a shared object that is loaded with
LD_PRELOAD and hooks 'bind' function

It could force binding on a specific IP and/or port. Supports both IPv4
and IPv6.
It is useful if you have a binary application without sources and without
the possibility to configure address or port to bind to.
Also allows to modify conection settings by individual applications.
It allows you to force keepalive, mss, tos, bandwidth per program or
socket, reuseaddr, nodelay, fwmark, priority with tc, deny bind to
IPv4, fake binding to IPv6, and more.

i plan to maintain this package on collab-maint, open to anybody to

Heretic and Hexen and one which is able to run Strife. I don't think we

I will maintain it on colab-maint using a git based workflow.

I'm not DD, but a DM, so i need an sponsored first upload.

Bug#718190: systemd don't activate non-essential lvm over luks volumes

Are you sure we are talking about the same fix? I.e. did you install my
custom-built lvm packages (did you verify the version in dpkg -l)?

If so, would it be possible for you to provide us with a virtual machine
image (install a minimal debian installation, that should compress
nicely afterwards) that exhibits the problem? I have spent far too many
well, i cannot reproduce my problem, after installing your lvm2 package,
on a (clean) vm i was preparing for you. i guess something else is
broken on my laptop

thanks for your time, vm is ready in case you want it anyway
hours debugging lvm problems already, so providing such an image would
go a long way towards making me actually look into this bug. Otherwise I
most likely won’t have the time. Thanks for your understanding.

luks volume is activated but no the VG
I think this is fixed with the same fix as
http://bugs.debian.org/718190, so I am marking it as a duplicate.
the fix suggested on #718190 does not work here :(
