Solution at: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/78684 It appears that the edac drivers prevent intel_agp from detecting the AGP. After tying in: modprobe -r i82875p_edac modprobe -r edac_mc modprobe -r fglrx modprobe -r intel-agp modprobe -r agpgart modprobe intel-agp I got the message: agpgart: Detected an Intel i875 Chipset. agpgart: AGP aperture is 128M @ 0xe000 Which I hadn't seen before. 3d acceleration works again. Now I wonder what this edac is? Does this error still occur with more recent kernel versions?
