Bug#627076: doc-base: Byte order is not compatible at ../../lib/Storable.pm

2011-07-07 Thread Andrew O. Shadoura
Hello,

It seems like upgrading doc-base to 0.10.2 helped, not sure if it
actually fixed the problem.

Again me (initial reporter).

It isn't just incident. I performed upgrades
few days later on two different machines,
and they also ended with this error.

Bug#627076: doc-base: Byte order is not compatible at ../../lib/Storable.pm

2011-05-22 Thread Christoph Franzen
Hello,

I get exactly the same error when updating to version 0.9.5, and I
remember that an upgrade of a DB package has failed previously, I do
not remember which one, however.

Regards, Christoph

Hi,

Byte order is not compatible at ../../lib/Storable.pm (autosplit into
 ../../lib/auto/Storable/thaw.al) line 415, at
 /usr/share/perl5/MLDBM/Serializer/Storable.pm line 27

I cannot reproduce this bug, but it seems the internal doc-base
databases were generated with some older version of perl or Berkley DB
packages.
The latest version of doc-base (0.10.1) does no longer use Berkley DB,
so I think upgrading to the version should fix the issue.

You're using testing at least and you have perl from testing installed,
but doc-base is still from stable, strange...

robert

I was using clean squeeze installation essentially. It wasn't upgrade
from older release.

I actually do not know why it was upgrading to 0.9.6, as in testing there is
0.10.1!
(And I was upgrading to it).
I purged doc-base, and then tried to apt-get install doc-base,
but apt-get errored that it cannot find such package, or something like this!
I apt-get updated, then apt-get install doc-base without problem in version
0.10.1.
Then performed rest of dist-upgrade.

Strange. Maybe some transient problem with mirror or something.

Will be good to retry upgrading from squeezy again.

Exactly. Strange. I was doing dist-upgrade to testing,
and have clean sources.list with only testing.

Witek
