Bug#705164: gmpc-plugins: Metadat Handler uses outdated API

2013-04-11 Thread Etienne Millon
Hello,

I'm afraid that this can't be fixed for wheezy. The newer version of
gmpc uses a new system based on libglyr to fetch lyrics, I'll upload a
snapshot to experimental ASAP.

For a workaround, you can disable the discogs plugin in Music -
Preferences - Metadata Handler - uncheck DiscoGS Artist and Album
Image Fetcher.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for this bug report.

Bug#705164: gmpc-plugins: Metadat Handler uses outdated API

2013-04-11 Thread Edward J. Shornock
* Etienne Millon etienne.mil...@gmail.com [11-04-2013 10:41 EEST]:
 Hello,

I'm afraid that this can't be fixed for wheezy.

That's fine, of course, and not unexpected. :) I'm sorry for reporting
this so late in the prep for Wheezy but just learned why I couldn't
access discogs.com for the last few months yesterday.

The newer version of gmpc uses a new system based on libglyr to fetch
lyrics, I'll upload a snapshot to experimental ASAP.

For a workaround, you can disable the discogs plugin in Music -
Preferences - Metadata Handler - uncheck DiscoGS Artist and Album
 Image Fetcher.

Thanks, I did that as soon as I get the answer back from discogs. I
just wanted to get this out there so that others that may potentially
get bitten by this know that there's a problem (and how to mitigate it).

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for this bug report.

It's not a problem in the least. Thanks for all you do with helping make
my preferred Linux distribution even better.

Bug#705164: gmpc-plugins: Metadat Handler uses outdated API

2013-04-10 Thread Edward J. Shornock
Package: gmpc-plugins
Version: 11.8.16-1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Use of this package with the DiscoGS Artit and Album Image Fetcher
enabled caused my IP address to be blocked by discogs.com.

Your IP was auto-blocked due the continued use of an outdated app that
is still trying to access our site via unsupported methods. The app in
question appears as gmpc libsoup/2.38.1. I've unblocked your IP
address, but please be aware that your IP could be auto-blocked again
with the continued use of gmpc libsoup/2.38.1.

Until this Metadata Handler is switched to use supported methods,
this functionality should probably be disabled in the package to prevent
users from being automatically blocked from accessing discogs.com..
