The wayland support is now in libsdl2:
 http://hg.libsdl.org/SDL/rev/4fc5f66d63cc

I just uploaded 2.0.1, but I thought that this was too large to
incorporate as a patch on our side for the time being -- specially
because of possible incompatibilities in some parts of the rest of the
code between the release of 2.0.1 and that patch.

So I guess that this will be present in 2.0.2 then, in our next upload
with new upstream code, unless upstream somehow disable this.

Nevertheless, if somebody pings this bug by the time that a new
release containing this is ready it would be great, to make sure that
 we enable support for it.

From what I can see in the patch, it will not need new binary packages
or anything fancy, only build-depending on the appropriate -dev
packages and making sure that support for it is enabled when
 configuring/compiling.

I just uploaded 2.0.2 with support for Wayland enabled.

Unless the package gets rejected or fails to build in tue build
daemons, everything should be fine and should be available in the
mirrors within hours or days.

The support for Wayland is experimental, so things might be a bit
rough. It would be nice if people confirm that it's working, or if
there are problems.

Cheers and thanks for the report and suggestions.

Bug#714482: [libsdl2-2.0-0] Programs fail under weston

2013-07-01 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
Control: tag -1 +wontfix

Hi,

2013/6/29 Franz Schrober franzschro...@yahoo.de:
 Package: libsdl2-2.0-0
 Version: 2.0.0~rc1-1
 Severity: normal

I wanted to port some of my programs to weston (from Debian experimental) and
used SDL2 for it. But the problem seems to be that the wayland backend shown
at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X6jxGeEevw is missing in debian. I only
get Couldn't Initialize SDL Video: No available video device when running
the example programs in the libsdl2 tests folder.

As far as I can tell, this is supported in forks, but it's not
supported officially yet.

This is the more on-topic and recent information that I got from the
different channels (mailing list, bug reports, forums...) from the
upstream devels:
http://forums.libsdl.org/viewtopic.php?t=8605highlight=wayland

So this cannot be fixed at the moment in this source package until
they support it officially.

Cheers.
