 for the ftbfs bug I have upload a new version of

I sponsored this upload for the GCC 5 build failure but I won't be
able to sponsor in the future, so you still need to find one.

Bug#771774: RFS: libmongo-client/0.1.8-2 [ITA]

2015-07-08 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Hi,

for the ftbfs bug I have upload a new version of
libmongo-client/0.1.8-2[1].

My changes:

libmongo-client (0.1.8-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New Maintainer (Closes: #770801).
  * debian/contol:
- Set myself as maintainer.
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.6 (no changes required).
- Change Vcs-* to collab-maint since old Vcs is not longer available.
  * debian/copyright:
- Add missing license for tests/tools/*.
- Add myself to the list of authors for debian/*.
- Change upstream email address to alger...@madhouse-project.org.
- Change source to github.
  * debian/rules:
- Remove useless override_dh_builddeb: xz is now standard.
- Remove oldstyle debhelper parts.
- Add override_dh_makeshlibs to build symbols on every build.
- Add missing LDFLAGS.
  * debian/watch:
- Change source to github.
  * Remove debian/source/options because xz is now standard.
  * New debian/patches/0100-gcc5.patch:
- Cheery-picked upstream commit 7ccdf08e81aa51a1b54eb4c574e6e4fc5f2e2d54
  to make the library fit for gcc-5 (Closes: #777959).

Hello Gergely,

first thnks for your review.

 As the former maintainer and upstream, there are a few issues I see with
 the packaging (also sent earlier in private mail, but repeating here in
 case someone was looking at the package and wanting to sponsor it).

 * Instead of disabling the watch file, if you tweak the regexp to only
   match upstream releases, then it will work, and not catch my old
   debian/ tags:

   ,
   | version=3
   |
   | https://github.com/algernon/libmongo-client/releases
 .*/libmongo-client-([\d\.]+)\.tar\.gz
   `

Thanks. And changed to your version.

 * The build: target was there for a reason. Without it, we will build
   the arch-indep stuff by default too, which is something we want to
   avoid.

   For example, it will FTBFS on buildds, because they do not install
   build-depends-indep. And we really don't want doxygen and graphviz in
   B-D, because those pull in a shitload of stuff, to build docs that
   will be discarded by buildds anyway.

I fully agree with you.
But where are the problem? The package has no FTBFS and I don't change
your -arch / -indep division.

Please can you specify your minds.

 * Why move --dbg-package from DH_OPTIONS to an override?

--dbg-package is only needed in dh_strip[1].

Ah, yes, now I remember. This was done for backporting purposes, so the
package could be built on older releases where sbuild didn't call
build-arch yet, but used build. For unstable, dropping the build target
as you did is fine, indeed.

 * Why move --dbg-package from DH_OPTIONS to an override?

Jörg --dbg-package is only needed in dh_strip[1].

Yes. But it works fine in DH_OPTIONS too, without any ill side-effects,
and is shorter there. (Personal thing, but I hate overrides, and if
there's another way to do what I want, which isn't convoluted, I'd
choose that)

But override or DH_OPTIONS, in this case, doesn't matter.

The updated package looks fine, good job! One thing you may wish to
change is the Source: stanza in debian/copyright. While I intend to
restore the git URL there (I just need to reinstall cgit), it currently
doesn't work, and github is the canonical one nowadays.

Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

  Dear mentors,

  I am looking for a sponsor for my package libmongo-client

   Package name: libmongo-client
   Version : 0.1.8-2
   Upstream Author : Gergely Nagy alger...@balabit.hu
   URL : https://github.com/algernon/libmongo-client
   License : Apache-2.0, GPL-2+
   Section : libs

  It builds those binary packages:

libmongo-client-dev - Development files for the alternate C driver for
MongoDB
libmongo-client-doc - Documentation for the alternate C driver for MongoDB
libmongo-client0 - Alternate C driver for the MongoDB document-oriented
datastore
libmongo-client0-dbg - Alternate C driver for MongoDB (debugging symbols)

  To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/libmongo-client

  Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libm/libmongo-client/libmongo-client_0.1.8-2.dsc

  Changes since the last upload:

  * New Maintainer (Closes: #770801).
  * debian/contol:
- Set myself as maintainer.
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.6 (no changes required).
- Change Vcs-* to collab-maint since old Vcs is not longer available.
  * debian/copyright:
- Add missing license for tests/tools/*.
- Add myself to the list of authors for debian/*.
  * debian/rules:
- Remove useless override_dh_builddeb: xz is now standard.
- Remove oldstyle debhelper parts.
  * debian/watch:
- disabled because upstream repository contains debian tarballs.

  Regards,
