reopen 502083 thanks I'm terribly sorry, but looks like I provided you the wrong version of the patch, one with the arch check reversed - as can be seen from the build logs: http://buildd.debian.org/~jeroen/status/package.php?suite=unstablep=fslview --as-needed is only used on arm and armel builds, while it should be exactly opposite :( Incidentally it also shows that --as-needed is ok for arm (but not for armel). -- rm -rf only sounds scary if you don't have backups -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#501638: remove ted?
Hi, as noted in #501638 ted's author seems to impose funny terms on top of GPL. As the package does not seem to be that avtive or popular, maybe we should pull it. The death of the gtk 1 backend doesn't look that encouraging, either. Kind regards T. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is the man page wrong or incomplete? imho it's incomplete - due to the nature how dependencies are handled, m-a thinks that if /any/ version of virtualbox-ose is installed, the correct package here would be the newest available version, which is not necessarily what you have on your system. however, this is not really fixable in m-a i think, but the manpage could probably more clear about it. -- Address:Daniel Baumann, Burgunderstrasse 3, CH-4562 Biberist Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Internet: http://people.panthera-systems.net/~daniel-baumann/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#494010: Source for dsp56k firmware
On Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 12:32:15AM +0100, Ben Hutchings wrote: - Attached patch fixes a few errors spit by a56. I think my other two fixes are correct, but I have no idea what the '' / '' candy is supposed to do (hints?). According to the assembler reference manual http://www.freescale.com/files/dsp/doc/ref_manual/DSPASMRM.pdf they mean: - I/O short addressing mode force operator - Short addressing mode force operator - Long addressing mode force operator Thanks. This seems to be a non-issue (resulting code is the same, indicating a56 already makes the same assumptions). - Resulting offsets doen't match with the blob. I still haven't figured out how are program code offsets mapped to the output file, but some parts don't match. For example, the blob has a jump (0C 00 40) to 0x40 (and so does a56 output, at offset 0x0 in both cases), but then code from the blob continues at 0xc0, unlike code from a56 which continues at 0x40. Is there some trick to this? It's a 24-bit processor and uses word-addressing, not byte-addressing. Ok, fixed that. I got a 100% code match now. The only remaining question is what's the deal with this section that's supposed to start at 0x7ea9 but actually starts at 0x4f (0xed in the file). My code adds a workaround for that: if (offset 0x7000) offset -= 0x7e5a; which is really nasty. Anyone knows better? -- Robert Millan The DRM opt-in fallacy: Your data belongs to us. We will decide when (and how) you may access your data; but nobody's threatening your freedom: we still allow you to remove your data and not access it at all. - Remove '' and '' candy (they specify explicit addressing modes, which a56 don't grok, but uses follows implicitly anyway). - Replace 'move' with 'movem' when accessing program memory. - Rename a few labels to avoid duplicates (which a56 can't handle). --- ../bootstrap.asm.old 2008-10-15 18:22:56.0 +0200 +++ ../bootstrap.asm 2008-10-16 15:53:29.0 +0200 @@ -51,19 +51,19 @@ ; Copy DSP program control move#real,r0 move#upload,r1 -do #upload_end-upload,_copy -moveP:(r0)+,x0 -movex0,P:(r1)+ -_copy movep #4,X:M_HCR -movep #$c00,X:M_IPR +do #upload_end-upload,_copy +movemP:(r0)+,x0 +movemx0,P:(r1)+ +_copy movep #4,X:M_HCR +movep #$c00,X:M_IPR and #$fe,mr jmp upload real org P:$7ea9 upload -movep #1,X:M_PBC -movep #0,X:M_BCR +movep #1,X:M_PBC +movep #0,X:M_BCR nextjclr#0,X:M_HSR,* movep X:M_HRX,A @@ -81,18 +81,18 @@ cmp x0,A jeq load_Y -load_P do y0,_load +load_P do y0,_load_P jclr#0,X:M_HSR,* movep X:M_HRX,P:(r0)+ -_load jmp next -load_X do y0,_load +_load_P jmp next +load_X do y0,_load_X jclr#0,X:M_HSR,* movep X:M_HRX,X:(r0)+ -_load jmp next -load_Y do y0,_load +_load_X jmp next +load_Y do y0,_load_Y jclr#0,X:M_HSR,* movep X:M_HRX,Y:(r0)+ -_load jmp next +_load_Y jmp next upload_end end #include stdlib.h #include stdint.h #include stdio.h #include fcntl.h #include sys/types.h main (int argc, char *argv[]) { unsigned int offset; unsigned int native_value; int fd; uint8_t value[3]; char type; char *line = NULL; size_t zero = 0; if (argc != 2) { fprintf (stderr, Usage: %s output input\n, argv[0]); exit (1); } fd = open (argv[1], O_WRONLY | O_CREAT | O_TRUNC, 0644); while (getline (line, zero, stdin) != -1) { sscanf (line, %c , type); if (type != 'P') continue; sscanf (line + 2, %x %x\n, offset, native_value); value[0] = (native_value 16) 0xff; value[1] = (native_value 8) 0xff; value[2] = native_value 0xff; // FIXME if (offset 0x7000) offset -= 0x7e5a; pwrite (fd, value, 3, (off_t) (offset * 3)); } close (fd); exit (0); }

Bug#502469: linking against gsasl fails due to missing krb5
Package: libgsasl7-dev Version: 0.2.26-1 Severity: serious libgsasl7-dev 0.2.26-1 contains the following in /usr/lib/libgsasl.la: dependency_libs=' -L/usr/lib /usr/lib/libidn.la /usr/lib/libntlm.la -lgssapi_krb5 -lkrb5 -lk5crypto -lcom_err' This means that it needs -lkrb5 to link despite its pkg-config file only specifying -lgsasl. The dev package, however, does not depend on the corresponding -dev package. So libgsasl7-dev should depend on libkrb5-dev, which seems to be sufficient. It's the more straight-forward fix, and bash is essential. Let me remind you again that we are in release stage and any change that involves deeper changers might very well end up with a reject by the release team. Being conservative is the way to go currently. but added more changes like an update to the POT-Creation-Date timestamp?! What's the sense in that? Err? I didn't touch that, will check how that happened. Well, it's changed in the diff you uploaded. Sorry, but I will go ahead with the NMU for fixing the RC bug that I was about to upload now, and no thanks for adding more workload for me to rebase my changes on your uploaded version ... Don't just NMU, I do want to fix that RC bug as well after some discussion. You didn't react for months to the initial bugreport pointing out the printer rom issue. You didn't react for a week when Andreas raised the RC bug. You started to react on my first mentioning of proposing a NMU to fix the issue. You now did rush in an upload including even more changes but didn't fix the release critical bugs. Did I miss anything important of the history with respect to the current situation? I mean solve that bashism and find a better solution if any for that 'find' line in rules. Solving the bashism and a better solution for the find line in rules isn't the problem at hands at all. The problems is that Debian ships ROM images for which it doesn't have any rights, and I'm sorry to sound so disappointed but you haven't given any response that makes me think you are interested to get that fixed in a timely manner. I hope you are happy with that, and are well aware that the bigger the diff gets the harder it is to get the change approved by the release team. I am not happy, I think it's you who miss the point. It wasn't me rushing in an upload that did not touch the real problem of the package, at all. I know that a bigger diff is more difficult to get approved. But I would like to solve everything in a better way and get 100% sure how you generated your dfsg source. There is no magic involved in how I generated my dfsg source. I did apply nothing less than the patch I sent and run the mangle-source.sh script. That's all behind it and I would have hoped you to be able to figure that out as package maintainer, at least Andreas was able to do it. Bug#475958: where to post the updated procedure ?
3. If this solution worked. Login to your system, make a backup of the '/boot/grub/menu.lst' file. Then generate a new '/boot/grub/menu.lst' by issuing with root privileges the command: update-grub Running update-grub before doing any changes to menu.lst is useless. 4. Edit '/boot/grub/menu.lst' and make sure all occurences of 'hdX' were replaced by 'sdX'. There is nothing wrong with the lines similar to: root(hd0,0) just leave it as it is. Just replacing hdX with sdX in the '# kopt' line (as suggested in the label/UUID approach) and running update-grub is enough. Ok. You are right. Thank you for highlighting it. I will update the procedure. Where is the better place to send the updated procedure ? I don't know wheter it is a good think to post this very long procedure to the BTS every time an update occurs. The models in OpenArena might be influenced by external sources, but that's just how art works and doesn't constitute a copyright infringement, just like a clean room implementation of a program. Bug#502459: konqueror: Crash on eBay page

The crash is reliable reproducable on my eBay account when I go to menu Mein eBay (myEbay?) - Verkaufen (Sell?) - Verkauft (Sold?). A kcrash-generated backtrace is attached. For better reproducibility of this bug I saved the page to a file and attached it to this bugreport. Simply extract the tarball and open the file konqueror-crash.html with konqueror to reproduce the crash. I'm able to crash Konqueror with the provided file, but I'm unable to trigger this with the real Ebay.de web site as outlined by you. As eBay is a service used by a huge number of users I've deliberately choosen severity serious. Please lower severity if you disagree. Bug#501153: Tehuti driver and firmware distribution for Linux

Maybe update the dependencies? Can you install the libsqlite3-0 package from testing (currently 3.5.9-4) and try again? Yes, it all works now. Thanks. mark

Emacs version 22.3, which was just released, contains a fix. A patch for earlier version of Emacs is described below. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to run malicious code if the user runs the Emacs command `run-python' while the current directory is world-writable, or if the user toggles `eldoc-mode' and visits a Python source file in a world-writable directory. Description of the vulnerability: The Emacs command `run-python' launches an interactive Python interpreter. After the Python process starts up, Emacs automatically sends it the line import emacs which normally imports a script named emacs.py which is distributed with Emacs. This script, which is typically located in a write-protected installation directory with other Emacs program files, defines various functions to help the Python process communicate with Emacs. The vulnerability arises because Python, by default, prepends '' to the module search path, so modules are looked for in the current directory. If the current directory is world-writable, an attacker may insert malicious code by adding a fake Python module named emacs.py into that directory. Furthermore, emacs.py imports other non-built-in Python modules, such as `inspect'. The same vulnerability exists for these import statements. By default, merely visiting and editing a *.py source file does not launch a Python subprocess; you either have to call `M-x run-python', or enable Emacs code that calls `run-python' automatically, such as `eldoc-mode'. The Python developers, in a private communication, have stated that they do not regard this module-importing behavior as a security problem for Python per se, because running a python script in a world-writable directory is itself a security hazard. In the Emacs context, however, it's much less obvious that it's unsafe to call `run-python' while the current directory is world-writable; therefore, the problem discussed here can be regarded as a security risk. The following patch, against the Emacs 22.2 source tree, removes '' from sys.path in the command-line arguments for invoking the Python process. (Because `sys' is a built-in module, an attacker cannot insert malicious code by adding sys.py to the current directory.) *** emacs/lisp/progmodes/python.el8 May 2008 03:42:10 - 1.89 --- emacs/lisp/progmodes/python.el24 Aug 2008 19:47:09 - 1.90 *** *** 1547,1553 ;; invoked.
