Debian Project was targeted by this group of professional trolls and
disrupters. Ean answered that he suspected GNAA members were closely
watching Debian. I joked, in this list, which is here for this purpose,
that they might be watching Debian to in order to learn.

Don't get offended, they are not that good at it!

Cheers!

Still, it's the original topic what's wrong, not the subject.

In Poland, in the early 50s, a guy dared to call marshal Rokossovsky
a russki (=a russian in russian). It was enough to be prosecuted
for insulting the Polish nation [1], a crime punishable in practice
by death. Yet, against all odds, an attorney managed to defend the
guy with a single sentence:
And since when being a russki is bad?

So, while obviously posting anything than includes debian-niggers
is not a good idea, you can't claim that the word nigger is an
insult. By claiming that, you state your belief that a nigger is
an inferior person.

And while a non-black[3] person should avoid this word, it's not an
insult until someone declares it to be one. Thus, removing it from
the subject is not fixing a bug, but making the trolls win.

Cheers and schtuff,
1KB

[1]. An explanation how addressing a member of government can be
insulting the nation, especially if said member doesn't know more
than a few words in Polish[2] is left as an exercise to the reader.

[2]. Being a foreigner is not something bad, getting put by the
occupation forces as a member of the government is what is bad.
Together with being guilty of putting to death most polish
(allied!) pre-war officers and quenching peaceful protests in a way
that makes Tianan-men look like a picnic [PoznaƄ 1956, Warsaw 1956].
followup-to: Wikipedia talk page, not debian-curiosa. I hope that merely
stating facts can be non-trollish, but again: don't discuss this HERE

[3]. I do consider african american to be offensive, and never use
that handle.
