It's also become increasingly obvious that men are useless at tech,

out of context and uncalled for, and as with anything else: the more

okay. but there's no browser alternative to opera. konqueror requires
all the kde stuff, mozilla is to awkward here and there and way too
slow, netscape6 is also non-free, skipstone and galeon don't provide
some of the more advanced stuff i need. i think one of the most
popular flaws of linux-fans is the downscaling of expectations and
standards just to meet the open source ideals. i don't think you
should support the capitalists any more than necessary, but you should
also not harm your own productivity, or deal with less just because
you cannot go non-free. i guess i also just trust opera to not do

If I knew what all those options meant I might care. Well, probably
not. I'll put the reply wherever I want to, and any editor that tries
to force it otherwise is broken[0].

stop bitching, and noone is forcing anyone, but it's commonly accepted
to put the reply under what you are replying too. if you want your
message to be in the first line, then make sure *not* to include the
reply. and always trim the quoted text to the bare minimum.

[0] such as vim, which seems to be autoindenting my python code at 8
spaces, despite having noautoindent set and a tabstop of 4...

so why do you use vim, if you can't handle it?

first, learn the above syntax, then figure out how autocommands and
syntax formatting work in vim. or just install jove or something more
intuitive.

How do you get telnet to show anything after Escape character is '^]'.?
When I telnet to that site all I get is that, and then just a blinking
cursor where I can type things.

you need to make an HTTP request, terminated by a newline:

===
HEAD / HTTP/1.0

===

then the response will come.

huh?
nonono, it is physically impossible for *anything* to go colder than
0K *because* all particles stop moving. kinetic energy (i.e.
temperature) doesn't care about the sign of the velocity (i.e. the
direction) since it's squared anyway.

For a system to have negative kinetic energy,
the particles just need to have imaginary speed...

i do admit that i am not a genious in particle physics, so could you
please elaborate? have negative kelvin temperatures been reached?
usually, i would say no and not believe anything else, but you never
know with the quantum stuff going on.

and imaginary speed... are you talking irrational numbers?
