Re: A suggestion
It is not just people new to Debian/Linux who get that impression. I think testing is perfectly fine for a desktop system. Totally I agree. Testing is fine for a personal Desktop machine. If Debian wants to issue stronger warnings for those using Testing on the desktop, maybe mentionning that it is also a development tool and it is not inteded for normal use would do the job… Well, I guess we could, but then I think we would also be unnecessarily alarmist. I agree too. I have been using Debian Testing how my desktop system for a long time (years) without any real problems (in my job and house). I think Testing is enough for a Linux user with intermediate level (or less). Regards. -- Anibal Avelar (FixXxeR) http://fixxxer.cc GPG: 83B64656 - C143 4AD8 B017 53FA B742 D6AA CEEA F9F3 83B6 4656

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi. I'm working on this programs (to porting to gtk2): Sergio Rua: gmanedit (ready 80%) Marcela Tiznado:gtkgo (ready 70%) Aurelien Labrosse: xwine (ready 70%) chbg (libgnome-dev) (ready 95%) All in one night (except chbg that is my package and I have more time working on it). The more strong to do is to migrate from GnomeUIInfo. In all packages I have ready all except this. Also I'm working on gcrontab karpski Both programs has dependencies with libgtk1.2 and libglib1.2. I know they don't have dependencies with gnome 1.x, but I think libgtk1.2 will be obsolete soon. I just adopted gcrontab, gmanedit and karpski. May be will be good idea if the mantainers of gtkgo and xwine want that I adopt them. Where to put idesk in Menu Structure?
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi there, Looking over the lintian reports for idesk, I've noticed that the Apps/System section seems to be a root section now. I can't see a suitable alternative for idesk, I think would be a good idea a new section called inside Screen called Toys or Hacks. Why Beryl has just four packages?
Hi. I see you have in queue NEW three packages: beryl-plugins, beryl-settings and emerald [1] and not ready (yet) beryl. I know beryl has another packages: beryl-dbus beryl-manager and optionally: emerald-themes aquamarine heliodor Do you have plans for the others packages? Because, I have been waiting from the begining those packages, I built my own packages [2] and I uploaded them in my unofficial Debian repository: deb http://fixxxer.cc/debian unstable/ deb-src http://fixxxer.cc/debian unstable/ I have built five packages: beryl, beryl-manager, beryl-plugins, beryl-settings and emerald from the 0.1.4 version. Please, check them. I just proved them under Intel chipsets, and they are working fine (so far). Shawn, I would appreciate if you will let me help you. I'm Debian maintainer and I have a great interest in beryl.
