Ah... daunting prospect indeed!

But my question was not about whether built i386 Debian images would be 
available, but whether I would be able to build custom i386 Trixie images using 
live-build.

Maybe, if the i386 d-i udebs continue to be available, then it will work?

Is i386 support in live-build itself likely to be difficult to maintain in the 
future?

I have read that i386 Debian installer images will cease to be available from 
Debian 13 (Trixie):

But that d-i daily images will continue to be built:
