Thanks for your sponsor for this package and your works on this package.

> http://www.hungry.com/~pere/debian-sponsoring.html >.

I have read the page and I agree with the statement from the page.

I am worried about one thing is whether if I should drop lintian's
error about the orphaned package to meet your sponsor standard. My
initial goal is to fix the FTBFS issue but never thought the upload
will bring lintian error. It seems the package needs to be repacked to
fix the lintian error.

Or we first upload it to fix the FTBFS issue on some arches and then
raise one serious reportbug to remind the license issue(if true).

Ah, sorry, I forgot to drop it when I referred to the salsa yaml file
of ocaml-cpu[0]. Now I update it with more precise salsa ci target.
But to my confusion, I can not enable the ci on salsa repo on my side.

Done. I mixed them sometime but I think I will have a clear
understanding of these files.

Thanks again.

Okay, I can do some experimental/feedback on these both tools here also.

It seems the issue should be fixed on lintian side as your analyst.
But unfortunately, this is one lintian error that will lead to
ftp-master auto-rejected if uploaded:

```
E: libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dbgsym: stripped-library
[usr/lib/debug/.dwz/x86_64-linux-gnu/libbisect-ppx-ocaml.debug]
E: libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dev-dbgsym: stripped-library
[usr/lib/debug/.dwz/x86_64-linux-gnu/libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dev.debug]
```
I tried many attempts but failed. One common workaround is shipping
one lintian-override via dh_lintian, like[0] and [1]. Although the
error was gone, but we will get another error:

```
libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dev-dbgsym: non-debug-file-in-debug-package
[usr/share/lintian/overrides/libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dev-dbgsym]
```
Passing `--no-dwz-multifile` to dh_dwz maybe has side effects on the
debug package but it seems this is a workaround if we can upload to
upstable.And
I will open two separate reportbugs to track these issues once the
package unloaded to unstable.

Thanks again.

Bo

Done.

First to address dh_strip issue. From what I've researched. The issue
was raised by the static library generated from bisect_ppx did not
obey the standard static library name scheme. The dh_strip[0] will
strip the static library with `lib-*` prefix. But as we can observe
the building:
```
I: libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dev: unstripped-static-library
(bisect__Runtime.o) [usr/lib/ocaml/bisect_ppx/runtime/bisect.a]
I: libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dev: unstripped-static-library
(bisect_common.o) [usr/lib/ocaml/bisect_ppx/common/bisect_common.a]
I: libbisect-ppx-ocaml-dev: unstripped-static-library
(bisect_ppx__Exclude.o bisect_ppx__Exclude_lexer.o
bisect_ppx__Exclude_parser.o bisect_ppx
__Exclusions.o bisect_ppx__Instrument.o bisect_ppx__Register.o)
[usr/lib/ocaml/bisect_ppx/bisect_ppx.a]
```
In fact, the original solution is that I refer to this[1]. But I am
not sure if this is a toolchain issue or not, so I have reported this
to upstream[2] also. The workaround for this issue I could think of:
1. Keep those lintian messages here and open a reportbug to track the
issue until upstream fix the issue;
2. Use the solution like [1] as my previous post and open a reportbug
to track the issue until upstream fix the issue;
3. Wait to upstream to fix this issue;
4. Persuading the maintainers of debhelper to strip static library
with broader name scheme.But I think this is not a good wishlist.:)
Personally I prefer to option 2 still.

For dh_dwz issue. It seems that the issue will be fixed by passing
`--no-dwz-multifile` arg. In my understanding, there is two ELF
binaries on the debug package, so the no-mutlifile arg can assure
dropping `../.dwz/../.debug`.

Okay, I repacked it by removing the prebuilt javascript file and put
its source code which pulled from upstream into debian/missing-sources
and then to get the file during the building.

Now is the latest Standards-Version 4.7.0? Just noticed the
announcement from the d-announcement mail list some days ago.

Both above are easy to fix for me.:)

Here I want to get some help with how to fix the issue. In your view,
which toolchain is the most likely cause of this problem? I mean dh_*
or just bisect-ppx build toolchain itself. For these OCaml packages I
packaged in the past weeks, it was about two packages has the same
issue. This will cost more time given I known a little about OCaml but
I will fix the issue definitely.

I think repacking it should be fixed the issue, but is it overuse?
Is it possible has another solution to fix it? like this[0] to be
noticed when I was trying to fix another ftbfs issue.

I would like to suggest you contact Peter Pentchev
as he/she has reported ITA earlier than your ITA.
And would you really want to maintain these packages without Debian
Python Team? No other meaning, just considering these packages should
be maintained under DPT sounds more reasonable.

Ah, I just realized you are the maintainer of the package(as
uploader), many thanks for your work.

Thanks for reminding me about this.
Before submitting an NMU I basically will give it at a glance from
debian tracker to look at the care/upload frequency of this package is
used to determine if the NMU. Because for some packages that lack
care, there are bugs filed in time, but they may not be resolved for a
long time. But this is only from my experience. I should obey Debian
NMU guidance here.

Sorry, here I mean I asked for some help on IRC. The package is here:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1060388

I will ping the maintainer of the package again and will fix some
issue like `UNRELEASE` here.

OKay, no problem. Sometimes the debdiff for new upstream release is
very huge and BTS will drop this.:(

Many Thanks again, TIL.

Here I am not a member of DebianEdu team and told if am not a member
of one team there is no reason to do team upload.
Ideally, I should contact the team to join in or tell team I am going
to fix ftbfs issue. But I got no response from there(not DebianEdu
team) in the past.
I would like to follow your advice how to deal with the package or let
the team know the new upstream release will fix the RC problem:

Thanks. In this time, the NMU for 6.5 is meaningless because upstream

I want the NMU because I did the NMU at 6.4 and enable test to

I tried this and it seems the issue was raised with my sbuild build environment.
I still got this:
https://paste.debian.net/1296268/

My sbuilderrc is here:
https://paste.debian.net/1296269/

But if use pbuilder[0] to build your package, it is ok.
So I think your package which is no problem.

BTW, I suspect the network accessing leads to the issue and I am annoy how to
disable network access during building for sbuild.

RFS here but
your RFS was buried.

I would like to suggest you ping the RFS once a/two week until a DD
picks up your package.
All Debian participants are volunteers, so please relax :)

Thanks for your contributions to Debian.

Thanks for noticing it first.

Yeah, I know the team upload which means you are a number of especially team.
but here I have not get access by now and it look like the team is not
very active.

maybe I am wrong here, if a package was maintained by a team, team upload is
better than nmu upload. I will wait some days and to see what happened.

Thanks.

I have updated it here:

The only thing this is uncertain about is whether the distribution
should be UNRELEASE or unstable
in changelog. In Debian python team, it was `UNRELEASE` if team upload
from non-DD/DM. So l use it there.

Oh, thanks you told me the background so today I learned many here.

I think it is okay i push the update to the salsa repo directly as
your suggestion.

Thanks again!

Depends on the build tools you use. if you use sbuild, you can put
these options on ~/.sbuildrc:
```
$lintian_opts = ['-EvIL', '+pedantic'];
```
Or refer to here:

-
The reason why this version is still uploaded to experimental is because
the 0.82-1 has ftbfs issue on 32 bit systems.

Got it. I disabled/ignored the test with the $(testreport) it at this
time. But I am wonder why it will not
be reproduced on my local build with sbuild. Need I to change some
modifies in ~/.sbuildrc?

Another serious issue is it fails to build on i386:
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/jimtcl/-/pipelines/535907

I hope it can be uploaded to experimental this time and to see the
issue if existed in others arch, this is to help upstream
to debug the issue also I think.

Could you help me to upload it in this situation?

How to pass build arguments when try to build multi dir?

2023-04-05 Thread Bo YU
Hi mentor!

I am now in the process of packaging a package, but there are some
unknown issues for me.:(

The upstream project is here: https://gitee.com/wine-ce/wine-ce.

The project needs extra two vendor modules to work. From 'Build From
Source' section, we  can see:
```
cd wine
i386_CC="clang -fuse-ld=lld --target=i686-pc-windows" \
x86_64_CC="clang -fuse-ld=lld --target=x86_64-pc-windows" \
x86_64_UNIX_CC="clang -fuse-ld=lld --target=x86_64-pc-linux
--sysroot=/usr/x86_64-linux-gnu/
-L/usr/lib/gcc-cross/x86_64-linux-gnu/12/" \
aarch64_CC="clang -fuse-ld=lld --target=aarch64-pc-windows" \
aarch64_UNIX_CC="clang -fuse-ld=lld --target=aarch64-pc-linux
--sysroot=/usr/aarch64-linux-gnu/
-L/usr/lib/gcc-cross/aarch64-linux-gnu/12/" \
./configure --prefix=/opt/wine-ce --disable-tests
--enable-archs=i386,x86_64,aarch64
make -j6
sudo make install
cd ..
```
And
```
mkdir build.qemu
cd build.qemu
CC=gcc CC_FOR_BUILD="$CC" CXX="$CC" HOST_CC="$CC"
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-Ttext-segment=0x1 -Wl,-z,max-page-size=0x1000
-Wl,-Bstatic,-lglib-2.0 -Wl,-Bdynamic" ../qemu/configure
--without-default-features --disable-fdt --disable-system
--enable-ca11c0de --disable-rcu --meson=meson
--target-list=x86_64-linux-user,aarch64-linux-user
ninja -j6
cd ..
```
This is a multi build system and need to configure it before build.
There is my d/rules:
```
#!/usr/bin/make -f
export DH_VERBOSE = 1
export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS=hardening=+all
DEB_WINE_DIR=$(CURDIR)/debian/wine-ce/usr
DEB_QEMU_DIR=$(CURDIR)/debian/build_qemu
override_dh_auto_build:
cd $(CURDIR)/wine && $(MAKE) -j$(shell nproc)
mkdir -p $(DEB_QEMU_DIR) && cd $(DEB_QEMU_DIR) && CC=gcc
strip $(DEB_QEMU_DIR)/qemu-aarch64 -o $(DEB_WINE_DIR)/bin/qemu-aarch64
cd $(CURDIR) && chmod +x generate_scripts.sh &&
./generate_scripts.sh  $(DEB_WINE_DIR)/bin/
# avoid unnecessary calls to ldconfig
dh_makeshlibs -n
override_dh_auto_clean:
rm -rf $(DEB_QEMU_DIR)
rm -rf $(DEB_WINE_DIR)
```
The package can be built with the d/rules but is somewhat incorrect.
The problem is with `override_dh_auto_configure`.
In upstream, compiler options and the `configure` command are one
part, it works by hand to configure it simulated.
But aarch64_CC and aarch64_UNIX_CC cannot be recognized by the build
system of wine.

I know the d/rules is very terrible and this needs to be improved but
it should it works I think.
Any help will be appreciated.

Bo

Bug#1031707: RFS: libkysdk-applications/1.0.1-1 [ITP] -- kylin SDK based on application level

2023-02-20 Thread Bo YU
Hi,

This RFS and another two RFS #1031708 ,#1031683 were the same packages
that need to be uploaded.
This is redundant. I suggest you merge these RFSs into one RFS and
then wait someone to sponsor.
I doubt it will be uploaded before bookworm release.

Great! Many thanks for helping me do this.
New version is here:

BTW, Could you tell me how to do this?
At first attempt I am on top of master to use `gbp import-*`,
appanently this does work.

Bug#1031257: RFS: genparse/0.9.3-1 [QA] [RC] -- command line parser generator

2023-02-15 Thread Bo YU
Hi,

>
> Please see the changes in https://salsa.debian.org/debian/genparse by Boyuan
> Yang and integrate yours there.

thanks.

Now I have fixed the issue left by Boyuan:
```
...
To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:
  https://mentors.debian.net/package/genparse/
Alternatively, you can download the package with 'dget' using this command:
  dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/genparse/genparse_0.9.3-1.dsc
Changes since the last upload:
 genparse (0.9.3-1) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * QA upload.
 .
   [Boyuan Yang]
   * New upstream version 0.9.3.
   * debian/: Apply wrap-and-sort -abst.
   * Bump debhelper compat to v13.
   * debian/control: Use correct Vcs-* fields.
   * debian/control: Drop unnecessay dependency on dpkg.
   * Add new build-dependency autoconf-archive to use obsolete
 autoconf macro AC_CHECK_CLASS.
   * debian/rules: Modernize.
   * debian/rules: Use c++14 standard to avoid FTBFS caused by
 C++17 disallowing dynamic exception specification.
 (Closes: #984149)
   * debian/genparse.install: Rename from genparse.files.
   * debian/patches: Drop all old patches, merged upstream.
 .
 [Bo YU]
   * debian/patches: Add c+=14 flag for test file to pass test.
   * Remove debian/genparse.install file
   * Remove debian/genparse.lintian-overrides
```

The trouble is how to push these commit.
Because there is 0.9.2-2 version on Debian archive :
https://deb.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/genparse/genparse_0.9.2-2.dsc,
so everything became harder. I have to put `0.9.2-2` entry into
changelog in order.
1. I git reset all commits from Boyuan;
2. gbp import-dsc 0.9.2-2.dsc
3. try to build 0.9.2-2, ok, expect to fail due to #984149
4. cherry-pick commits from Boyuan then.
5. Add my change here.

So basically we can here:

```
Yes. I think the *right* place is debian namespace on salsa. But I do not have
writable permission about it, so I did not change vcs field. In fact I
put it under
my namespace on salsa when packaging.
Agree. I do not intend to hide the issue here just think the lintian error is a
false positive in this case.:). Another factor is that from uploading myself
packages experience, lintian error will not be accepted even lintian warning
by my sponsor. So I have to try to erase it.
The most challenge to updating it for me is repacking it to obey DFSG. The
workflow for such packages is unclear to me. But I have mastered some points
from the package.
Thanks again for pointing it. I saw Boyuan[0] has helped to upload the package
to Debian archive. So I think I can close the reportbug.
BR,
Bo
The Debian revision has to be -0.1 then...
Ok, change to 1.6.2-0.1
   * Change libunwind repo to github
This is not a thing for a NMU.
Done.
Thanks for correcting these issues. I have uploaded the new version to
mentors.
