Hello Harry I am looking for a sponsor for the package lives which I updated and removed lintian warnings and errors. This is not a non-maintainer upload as the upstream author Gabriel Finch salsa...@xs4all.nl has agreed to list me as an 'uploader' in debian/control. The original maintainer was Gürkan Sengün gur...@phys.ethz.ch. here's my current work: http://sid.ethz.ch/debian/lives/nyu/ I think the original maintainer Gürkan Sengün gur...@phys.ethz.ch is a Debian Developer as although I can't find him using db.debian.org, a random one of his packages I chose ttf-jura has been uploaded to the repository, but I can't find an RFS for it, only an ITP. Also, would a postinst script that downloaded and installed libweed0 be acceptable? Okay. I've pretty mich finished packaging libweed, but I won't be able to upload it to m.d.o until later today or (more likely) tomorrow. Also, would a postinst script that downloaded and installed libweed0 be acceptable? If not, is it unacceptable to add an override to suppress lintian warning about symlinks to shared libraries in the main packages? no you can't do that for main packages. thanks for your work, guerkan snip Thanks Harry Rickards -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Re: RFS: lives
here's my current work: http://sid.ethz.ch/debian/lives/nyu/ That's what I based the packages on (you're still listed ad the maintainer, I just made it lintian clean and upgraded the upstream version). That's fine, just make sure, there's only one changelog entry there, the one of you, fixing the RFS bug, and no older ones, since the package wasn't in debian ever... RFS: lives
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for the package lives which I updated and removed lintian warnings and errors. This is not a non-maintainer upload as the upstream author Gabriel Finch salsa...@xs4all.nl has agreed to list me as an 'uploader' in debian/control. The original maintainer was Gürkan Sengün gur...@phys.ethz.ch. I think the original maintainer Gürkan Sengün gur...@phys.ethz.ch is a Debian Developer as although I can't find him using db.debian.org, a random one of his packages I chose ttf-jura has been uploaded to the repository, but I can't find an RFS for it, only an ITP. Gürkan, if you want to upload lives that's great, but if not don't worry. The package requires libweed0, which is available from debian-multimedia.org (http://www.debian-multimedia.org/pool/main/l/lives/). However, only binary packages exist. Does this need to be uploaded before lives can (a source package would have to be made)? Also, would a postinst script that downloaded and installed libweed0 be acceptable? If not, is it unacceptable to add an override to suppress lintian warning about symlinks to shared libraries in the main packages? * Package name: lives Version : 1.0.0-1 Upstream Author : Gabriel Finch salsa...@xs4all.nl * URL : http://lives.sourceforge.net/ * License : GNU GPLv3 Section : graphics It builds these binary packages: lives - Linux Video Editing System The package appears to be lintian clean (without pedantic). If not, is it unacceptable to add an override to suppress lintian warning about symlinks to shared libraries in the main packages? I don't like this at all. Why are there only binary packages of libweed ? Is there a problem with making a source package of libweed ? Why are you talking about downloading and installing libweed0 ? What if debian-multimedia is down, or Marillat pulls the package ? I really dont think the debain maintainers would like LiVES to be dependant on a binary only package. I don't like it either. It stinks. Please make a source package for it as we discussed. Cheers, Gabriel. Okay. There are only binary packages of libweed0 because (if I understand correctly), Christian Marillat created just binary packages. As you suggest, I'll create a source package for libweed, so while I'm doing it, please could everyone ignore the RFS. - -- Thanks Harry Rickards hricka...@l33tmyst.com GPG Key Info: pub 1024R/58449F6F 2009-06-12 uid Harry Rickards (OpenPGP Card) hricka...@l33tmyst.com sub 1024R/D775CCEE 2009-06-12 sub 1024R/9394048C 2009-06-12 -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iJwEAQECAAYFAkpspHwACgkQ+9DWHFhEn2/v0gQAwpEXBib/pKI+ZT3HgtCBIU9k oKFOkCOIRWR/3C7lIVeQxipGlycObnpyWBX9WiGulE5NO9zn9rNfzSVi46tvPxPe cch17m1xaHnQGwJn/l8kJbyy5eqbu23ykto40tPew+k1TDgnvumPOWy+0PGQp8SQ Y/kziYXeY/Q1GHX1JXU= =3/Sf -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
