upgrade openoffice 1.0.3 (woody) to 1.1.2 (sarge)

2005-02-18 Thread Monika Strack
Hallo,

I'm administrator of net with servers and thin-clients with debian. At this
time all machines has woody installed. Now I want upgrade to sarge. I have
installed a test-server (with dis-upgrade). But I have problems with
openoffice. The upgrade of package works. Openoffice is installed at the
server. If a user log in to the test-server and start openoffice at the first
time, all user settings get lost. I have found that the old settings ar at
~/.openoffice/1.0.1/user/config/registry/*.xml and the new under
~/.openoffice/1.0.1/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/*.xcu. I don't found a
script or program that convert the old settings to the new files and syntax.
If you have on or two users, you can do it by hand. But I have over 50. The
user doesn't see that his settings go lost, he only say that the new system
lost the templates of our institut.

Why goes openoffice not thru the setup at the first startup by user? Know
someone a method to convert the settings from 1.0.3 to 1.1.2?

Thanks

Monika

When trying to save an .sxw document, a popup window appears with this
error message:

  Error loading BASIC of document

  General input/output error.

After clicking the OK button 18 times, the window disappears and the
file saves normally.

Exactly the same problem was reported about a year ago in bug 206442.
(Bug 206093 reported similar behaviour in relation to Calc.)

I have seen this bug for the first time in the last few days, after an
apt-get upgrade and dist-upgrade.

I am using sarge.

My box has a /usr/lib/openoffice directory but no /usr/lib/openoffice1.1

After cutting a cell, when i paste it, the current cell and all cells

openoffice.org override disparity

2005-02-18 Thread Debian Installer
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

openoffice.org-mimelnk_1.1.3-5_all.deb: package says section is kde, override
says editors.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why.

Using OOo 1.1.3 calc for the first time today, I noticed that the
good-old copy-paste behaviour (ctrl-c - copy; ctrl-v - overwrite
wherever you paste) has been changed so that ctrl-v now maps to insert
(shifting existing cells down).

It's also described here:
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=60227

I'm unable to find any way to change this behaviour, I've even removed
my existing .openoffice configuration to see if that changed anything,
but to no avail.

See http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=38079

Basically
- select single cell
- ctrl-ins
- select different multiple cell range
- shift-ins
- only top left cell is pasted, others remain unchanged

Seems to be Debian/sid dependent, that's why reported here.

The following line fails in the postrm when purging, and
the fonts.cache* files are nonexistent:

rm /usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice/fonts.cache*

Giving rm the -f argument fixes it.

impress crashes when in an empty presentation, with a layout including a
text box, you try to 'modify style...' and then change the 'font style'
or 'font size'

(btw, writer works fine)

it saves all data correctly, but you cannot compose any document at all

Currently the icons of impress, writer etc. look very much alike all a
white document with flying birds and a tiny thingy which makes the
difference. Due to this it takes time to see which app it is. I suggest to use
icons which are more different from each other both in colour and the figure
which is on there

Bug#295916: openoffice.org-bin: installs unstripped (huge) binaries

2005-02-18 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Package: openoffice.org-bin
Version: 1.1.3-5
Severity: important

On i386, openoffice.org-bin 1.1.3-5 is about 60M bigger than 1.1.3-4.
As far as I can tell, the reason for this is that the binaries it
ships (in and under /usr/lib/openoffice/program/) are no longer
stripped, in violation of Policy 10.1.
