Hello,

In order to fully fix bug #1069047, 'rust-bindgen-cli' needs to be rebuilt
against the version of 'librust-bindgen-dev' (0.66.1-6) that landed in unstable
just this morning. The previous build did not pick up the needed changes.

Thank you.

Hi RMs,

I don't know how long the transition queue is, but this is the small
rocksdb (8.9 to 9.2 soname) transition request.
Only two packages are affected: balboa and sortmerna. Both build fine
with the new rocksdb release already in experimental.

Thanks for consideration,

Hi dear release team,

the upgrade from c-blosc2 v2.13.1 to v2.14.4 requires a change in the
SONAME and hence a transition. The new version is already in experimental.
The following source packages need to be rebuilt:

pytables

Ben file:

title = "c-blosc2";
is_affected = .depends ~ "libblosc2-2t64" | .depends ~ "libblosc2-3";
is_good = .depends ~ "libblosc2-3";
is_bad = .depends ~ "libblosc2-2t64";

Please schedule binNMUs for the above mentioned packages on all
architectures.

Kind regards

reason: new upstream release
two packages affected:
- neochat: nearly builds as-is. Only needed change is to disable
running the tests, because the tests require a display. (The tests
only run with the new version of libquotient -- the tests did not run
with the old version, so did not break the build.)
- quaternion: needs a new upstream release, which should be coming soon,
but we can remove the current version from testing until it is released.

auto-ben from
https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-libquotient.html seems
correct

Control: affects -1 + src:dns-root-data

[ Reason ]
As already mentioned in Bug #1054393, the IP addresses of the B root DNS server
have changed. The aim is to increase redundancy in the event of problems with an
RPKI TAL, see original bug. Since this package is more like a database (like the
one for the timezones) Debian should include the change in Bookworm and
Bullseye.

[ Impact ]
According to the operator (University of Southern California), the old IPs will
continue to operate until at least 2024-11-27. After that, Debian users may
experience slowdowns when resolving DNS requests.

[ Risks ]
Since this package is like a database I consider the risk to be very low.

[ Checklist ]
[*] *all* changes are documented in the d/changelog
[ ] I reviewed all changes and I approve them
[ ] attach debdiff against the package in (old)stable
[*] the issue is verified as fixed in unstable

[ Changes ]
* New IPv4 and IPv6 address for b.root-servers.net
* Update expired GRS PGP key of Verisign
* Internal adjustments to the package (documentation and uploaders) by Marco
d'Itri

Please unblock package rust-bindgen

According to britney rust-bindgen is blocked by a "piuparts regression", but
piuparts.debian.org says everything is ok. My understanding is that this can
be caused by cruft packages in unstable, though it doesn't always happen for
some reason. I've filed a removal request for the cruft packages (they aren't
being removed automatically because dak doesn't properly understand virtual
packages) but my experiance in the past is that such removal requests can take
a long time.

The new version of rust-bindgen contains an important time64 fix and is blocking
the migration of the new version of rust-pipewire, so I'd appreciate it being
allowed in.

Thanks, I informed the piuparts maintainer after receiving this bug
report and I think the response was he'd fix it soon (which may now
already be in the past).

Anyways, one day after filing this report, rust-bindgen migrated, so
let's close this bug.

Dear Release Team,

I had started a thread on debian-devel[1] about the need to migrate 32-bit
architectures to 64-bit time_t in preparation for 2038, an ABI-breaking
change.

As the discussion on debian-devel has died down, I think it's time to
formally put this request on debian-release's radar.

I believe the last time we had an archive ABI change was before the Release
Team's current policy on transitions was put into place. As mentioned in
that thread, there are probably more than 400 libraries whose ABIs/package
names are affected (380 identified to date); a list of these is attached.
I've provided a mock ben config below; a real one could be synthesized once
the analysis is finished, though I'm not sure how useful it would be.

Also mentioned in the thread[2], it would be quite cumbersome to start this
transition in experimental (since it's toolchain-driven rather than
source-driven) but getting all of the binary packages through NEW in
experimental (with the wrong ABI) may help with timing. I'm open to
guidance here.

Due to the broad and disruptive nature of this change, I am writing to
request a slot for the transition, preferably the first in the upcoming
trixie cycle.

I have not build-tested the reverse-build-dependencies. There are at least
5000 source packages in unstable that need rebuilt as part of this
transition. Some of them will likely show they have regressed in
buildability, including some that are currently in testing; hopefully a very
small number since we are about to release. There is discussion of whether
we should enable -Werror=implicit-function-declaration as part of the ABI
transition. If so, that will increase the number of build failures, though
also hopefully only a bit. I do not expect build failures as a direct
result of the ABI transition. If you do want build tests before upload to
unstable, guidance is welcome.

Dear release team,

this is the placeholder for the possible upcoming boost1.81 transition.
We are working hard to prepare the transition as smooth as possible.

Large test rebuild of all dependent packages is planned.

Hello,

Let's upgrade llvm one more time.

I am aware of mipsel and mips64el build failures. I am looking into it.
llvm-defaults has been pointing to 16 in experimental for quite sometime.
Opening this transition to make sure it is on your radar! :)

I opened bug #1050070 & #1050069 for future removals.

Thanks
Sylvestre

Hi,

I'd like to request a transition slot for the update of the libunibreak
library 5.1 to 6.1. Each new major version bumps the SOVERSION, and in
this case there are only few new symbols.

There are few users of libunibreak in Debian:
- fbreader
- krita
- libass
I verified that all of them build fine using the new version of
libunibreak.

Ben file:

Hello!

There is a new release of the libsimde-dev header only library which
include fixes for many architectures and numerous optimizations. More
information is available at https://wiki.debian.org/SIMDEverywhere

Please rebuild all packages that build-dep on libsimde-dev so they may
gain the benefits of the new release.

Of course, given all of the excitement in the archive with the t64
transition, I am happy for this to wait for a bit :-)

The following command is from the output of:

# apt install wget devscripts dose-extra dctrl-tools
echo "nmu " ; for source in $(build-rdeps --quiet --distribution
unstable  libsimde-dev); \
do for version in $(rmadison ${source} --suite unstable
--architecture source | awk '{ print $3}') ; \
    do echo -n "${source}_${version} " ; done ; done ; echo " . ANY .

Dear Release Team,

Please schedule a transition slot for libcamera 0.3.0.

The auto-generated ben tracker looks good:
https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-libcamera.html

The unique reverse dep (pipewire 1.0.6-1) builds fine with
libcamera 0.3.0 in experimental.

Thanks.

Best regards,

I am requesting a transition slot for ticcutils. The experimental version builds libticcutils9 while the unstable
version has libticcutils8t64. The referenced tracker is okay. All reverse dependencies build with the experimental
version (where an experimental version exists, it is the one that builds with libticcutils9).

all fixed versions will be cleared, and you may need to re-add them.

Dear Release team,

I have skipped Qt 5.15.11 release and would like to upgrade to 5.15.12
which was published in December. Qt WebEngine will be upgraded from 5.15.15
to 5.15.16. The transition is prepared in experimental.

There are two blockers, lomiri-ui-toolkit and stellarium, but I can NMU them.

I have submitted a merge request with the ben file:

Hi RMs,

Upstream of snappy changed function signatures [1] breaking other
applications with the 1.2.0 release. I've added back the original
function signatures calling the new ones to restore the immediate
problem, to restore the ABI. But then this creates ambiguity in the
Compress method signatures [2] making (only) ceph FTBFS. While it can
be patched to avoid it, a proper transition should be done.
I've renamed back the library name which was done due to the C++11 ABI
change with g++ 5.0 back in 2015.

Thanks for considering,
Laszlo/GCS

That's the best solution already provided. As you noted, the
transition is reverted and a normal package update to version 1.2.1
was made. It was built on all architectures, autopkgtests succeeded
and the updated snappy is migrated to testing.
As such, closing this transition request.

For the Debian GIS team I'd like to transition to GDAL 3.8.0.

All reverse dependencies except python-django and facet-analyser rebuilt
successfully with GDAL 3.9.0 from experimental as summarized below.

python-django (3:4.2.11-1) FTBFS due to unrelated test failures. (#1042637)

facet-analyser (0.0~git20221121142040.6be10b8+ds1-3) FTBFS due to uninstallable
build dependencies. (#1040334)

I'd rather drop the autopkgtest test than having to maintain the Breaks in

Hi Release team,

opencascade has a new release with breaking ABI, upstream versionied them as
7.8. The transition tracker [1] correctly picked it up already after the upload
to experimental.

[1] https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-opencascade.html

building the reverse depenencies most FTBFS due to library naming changes,
but I was able to come up with patches for most, but they will require sourceful
uploads. Freecad will require either backporting the upstream fixes or package
a new upstream snapshot.

This is the result of the compilation tests:

Dependency level 2:

f3d ✔
freecad (sid only) FTBFS, fixed in upstream git.
horizon-eda patch available, #1071284
kicad ✔
netgen patch available, #1071223
slic3r-prusa (sid only) patch available, #1071470

Dependency level 3:
gmshpatch available, #1071451

Dependency level 4:
deal.ii patch available, #1071471

Hi Emilio,

thanks for the head up!

opencascade is now in unstable and has built for all archs except
riscv64, where the buildds are just busy right now and as they are
currently building huge packages, this could last a few days.
I think a strategic Dep-Wait will help :)

Level2 :
- f3d and kicad could use a binNMU, with a Dep-Wait on libocct-data-exchange-dev
(>= 7.8.1)
- freecad, netgen has been (team) uploaded.
- horizon-eda and slic3r-prusa are both in DELAYED/2.

Level3 :
- gmsh has been team uploaded.

Level4:
- deal.ii will be team-uploaded soon.

I hinted horizon-eda and opencascade has migrated. Closing.

libzmq5 depends on obsolete runtime libraries.

$ apt-cache depends libzmq5
libzmq5
  Depends: libbsd0
  Depends: libc6
  Depends: libgcc-s1
  Depends: libgssapi-krb5-2
  Depends: libnorm1
  Depends: libpgm-5.3-0
  Depends: libsodium23
  Depends: libstdc++6

But libnorm1 and libpgm-5.3-0 already have 64 bit time_t transitioned
version, (libnorm1t64 and libpgm-5.3-0t64)
so It should be rebuilt against newer runtime again.

  gb zeromq3_4.3.5-1+b1 . ANY . unstable . -m "Rebuild to sync with
  64bit time_t runtime dependency."

Thanks,
