JY -- My God! Re: mount -o bin (limit)

Você chegou a pesquisar alguma coisa a respeito?
Caros Amigos...
Caros Amigos...

OK then. The next question is how and what you intend to test. Are you trying only to test a link (the media between your box and the next box) or end-to end (where the two boxes are separated by many links and many routers)? Probably a block diagram of your proposed test setup would help. BTW what media types? The idea is to test between two boxes (connected directly with a standard CAT5 cable) to eliminate/minimize any other network interference caused by routers, switches, hubs, etc. On one box I will have my Gigabit Ethernet card (connected with different media types) that I want to test and on the other end of the box, I am going to have a standard known reference Gigabit Ethernet. I wasn't aware at all, until today, that I could set up nano to spell check, but now have it working with Aspell, and, thus, spell check, at the very least, in English. However, I write e-mails in 4 different languages (both icedove, and the gmail online interface allow me to spell check my messages in any variety of languages). Since they are software, however, they reside above (in the protocol sense) the link (e.g. Ethernet) which is where the majority of the errors are likely to occur (if a check sum error occurs your Ethernet card will merely discard it and wait for a retransmission so it will never be seen by your analyzer). Your monitor will indirectly monitor these errors if it measures throughput which will decrease as the errors increase. I would surmise that by installing and using one of the tools you will gain lots of insight and knowledge but not enough to definitively choose between one network card and another. Installing app list on a new dist
Hi folks, About a month ago there was a thread entitled Installed list of Apps concerning the right way to duplicate installed apps on one box to another. Johan Gronquist suggested: dpkg --get-selections dpkg --set-selections http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=169062 Oumar Niane suggested: $ aptitude -F %p search '~i!~M' package_list $ aptitude install package_list and pointed out that: With [the other] method, you loose the flag for packages that were automatically installed. OK so my situation is somewhat different. I wish to install the packages from a sarge install to a fresh install of lenny and keep the list of installed packages more or less the same. If lenny upgrades the package then I'd prefer to use the newer version rather than install an older version. I don't want to loose all the extra packages I've installed on sarge by moving to a fresh install. So in testing the two methods, the dpkg list is 1923 lines long including 73 deinstalled lines, whereas the aptitude method is 1276 lines long. So I have two questions: 1. Why is there such a substantial discrepancy between the two methods and which method would be preferable? 2. What about discrepancies between versions? Many lines include a version number. Will I wind up with older package versions or will it be upgraded to the lenny version? How can I get around that if necessary? Many thanks for the help. b. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

RE: Network interface testing utlity
Your monitor will indirectly monitor these errors if it measures throughput which will decrease as the errors increase. I always thought that the fields Error on Receiving/Transmission, for example in the package ethstatus, is for telling if there are any errors detected in the link layer? Isn't that the case? If not, then what does those error tell you about? Kushal Koolwal I do blog at http://blogs.koolwal.net/ From: ow...@netptc.net To: kushalkool...@hotmail.com; ow...@netptc.net; debian-user@lists.debian.org Subject: RE: Network interface testing utlity Date: Sun, 4 Oct 2009 07:32:53 -0700 Original Message From: kushalkool...@hotmail.com To: ow...@netptc.net, debian-user@lists.debian.org Subject: RE: Network interface testing utlity Date: Sat, 3 Oct 2009 23:37:52 -0700 OK then. The media types are: a) Standard CAT5 b) Custom twisted pair Kushal Koolwal I do blog at http://blogs.koolwal.net/ OK then, here's my opintion All (?) the tools you mention including Wireshark which is the one I use will provide network statistics. Also, spend some time decrufting the system before producing the lists. deborphan is your friend here. in the end, there may not really be any good way to do this automatically unless you want to script up something to parse the list and check against the apt-cache to see if they exist, throwing out the ones that fail.' hth A signature.asc Description: Digital signature
