J'ai essayé de réparer via Rescatux idem.

Via une console, j'ai tapé :

sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev
sudo mount --bind /sys /mnt/sys
sudo mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc

chroot /mnt

grub-install /dev/sda
update-grub

Quelqu'un pour m'aider.

 Hola. Yo estoy igual:

 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=661253#42):

/pruebas.txt | mail -s Prueba j...@prueba.com.

http://wiki.debian.org/Bind9

   aahh

experimente informar o proxy no navegador, e atente para o src, acesse
 o
proxy pelo endereço ip 192.168.1.103:porta. Primeiro resolva o
 squidguard,

 Henry

post-up no squeeze

2012-03-19 Thread Cleber Ianes

post-up route add -net 192.168.30.5 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.10.7

I get an error message saying “Invalid fontname ‘Latin Modern

According to http://tug.org/texlive/doc/texlive-en/texlive-en.html#x1-350003.4.4

Re: Failed to open VDPAU backend for mplayer2.

2012-03-19 Thread Sthu Deus
Good time of the day, Sven.

Thank You for Your time and answer.
You worte:

Do You have any idea how I can make use of VDPAU w/ mplayer2 on my
 system (testing, video ATI X1100)?

You have to build mesa 8.0 or later with --enable-vdpau yourself.
However, it's probably not really worth it, since the mesa drivers
currently only implement the P part of VDPAU, while the more
interesting D part is only possible with the Nvidia blob.

A few weeks ago I tried vdpau with nouveau, and while it works, CPU
load is not any lower than with other backends.

Besides performance I try to remove CPU 100% while paused on
video file - problem .

Can You prompt me how I can find out the plans on mesa - whither his/her
maintainer would compile his/her package w/ that support -
particularly and any other package of interest in general?

Sthu.

network device, whilst I chose the eth0 (wired network card) for
configuring the network, I suppose it is possible that the reason that
the repositories mirrors cannot be accessed, is due to this wireless
network device, which has no device with which to communicate, and
therefore, could be simply shouting into space, with no-one to hear
 it.

The installer would have offered you a choice of two interfaces. What
were they called? How were they described? To set up a wireless
interface you have to provide a WEP password. From what you say you
didn't, so it appears unlikely the network was enabled with the wireless
device.

I think using d-i in expert mode has been mentioned. Looking at the
fourth console (ALT-F4) may also be beneficial.

Please help me understand why oom-killer was invoked?

You already know the answer: what does oom stand for?

From the SAR logs we can see that there is lots of memory in use by the
system cache, but free is low. How can we ensure there is more memory
available in free to avoid triggering oom-killer?

Switch to a 64 bit kernel and user space, including 64bit pgsql. This
gives you a flat memory space so any app can have more than 2GB virtual
address space. You already knew this as well, but you've been fighting
the switch tooth and nail, screaming but I shouldn't _have to_, it
works now, mostly. It's the mostly part that is your current
problem. Switch to 64bit with its large flat memory space and you'll be
much happier.

I still can't understand why so many people are so damn resistant to
going 64bit, *especially* database users, who benefit the most from it.

apt-get will upgrade aptitude will not

2012-03-19 Thread Bonno Bloksma
Hi,

On 2 of my machines I have mysql-common installed

# aptitude show mysql-common
Package: mysql-common
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 5.1.49-3
Priority: optional
Section: database
[]

However, now apt-get wants to install an update but aptitude will not.

# apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be upgraded:
  mysql-common
1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 69.6 kB of archives.
After this operation, 57.3 kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n
Abort.

# aptitude upgrade
No packages will be installed, upgraded, or removed.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B of archives. After unpacking 0 B will be used.

What gives? The same is happening when I use aptitude safe-upgrade, as it
should I suppose. ;-)
Of course I can simply use apt-get but I also want to understand what is going
on.

No, unfortunately not, most (if not all) games that I've tried
   fail to work.

Weird...

Try by cleaning the browser's cache (files, cookies...).

    Unfortunately it was not sufficient.

Sorry to hear that. You can also try by getting Firefox 11 (no
installation required) with the latest available version of flash
plugin from Adobe and check if that works.

If failed with Firefox 6, Firefox 9, now Firefox 10 (actually
 iceweasel,
but it does not change). Unfortunately FF11 is available only as 32
bits builds. I'm not holding my breath also because it fails also with
konqueror (which is independent of Firefox).

It works and runs fine here (using 64 bits firefox and 64 bits flash
plugin). Maybe is something at your side... does your ISP has some
sort of proxy tha could be interferring? Can you try to access the site
from a different ISP?

JFYI, Firefox is now (since v10) officialy building 64-bits versions
for Linux:

Yes - it's possible.
The routing table on that box will tell you if that is being used as a

OK, let's write it up properly ;)

1.) During Installation of Wheezy, I had to exchange my Logitech K340
with a PS/2 keyboard in order to install Wheezy as the USB-Keyboard
did not react in the installer of Wheezy (although it did in the BIOS
and also, interestingly, in Squeeze installer - as a test).
Installation went fine, except that I would prefer that if one has

of English speaking countries. Contrary, the keyboard could be choosen
properly as Swiss German. So, after login (I use GNOME/WHEEZY), my old
PS/2 worked properly (i.e. no z and y change or Umlaute such as ä,
ö...). Then I attached the Logitech K340 USB keyboard, the keyboard
works but the language settings don't, i.e. I have obviously a GB
layout. The only way to change this so far is to use:

setxkbmap ch

After executing this commmand, everything works fine - in the terminal
as well as in GNOME, meaning I have the proper layout (I know that
there are specific problems with Wheezy and USB keyboards known, and
it is suggested to activate Legacy support in the BIOS. I have first
to check if I have this option in the BIOS at all. Remark: Ubuntu
10.10 does not have all these problems).

2.) My etc/default/keyboard looks ok:

# KEYBOARD CONFIGURATION FILE

# Consult the keyboard(5) manual page.

XKBMODEL=pc105
XKBLAYOUT=ch
XKBVARIANT=
XKBOPTIONS=terminate:ctrl_
alt_bksp

BACKSPACE=guess

3.) The problem seems to be known, if looking here also in ArchLinux:
http://www.loggn.de/arch-linux-xorg-deutsches-tastaturlayout-logitech-k340-tastatur-schnurlos/

If this problem is specific to K340, I do not know. So far I know that
setxkbmap ch helps to solve it. How can I automatize this command such
that I don't have to enter it after every startup ? In ArchLinux, it
was put in autostart of openbox. GNOME has also an autostart, there I
put it - but seems not to work (maybe I have to check again).

Anyway, also this is not a clean solution. There should be a way to
fix that properly. Thanks!

I'm not sure to have properly understood the issue... are you saying your

what do you want to get?

If you are using a graphical DE, this can be set from the keyboard

How can I fix this issue // Thx./ A reconfigure of the keyboard

Format cannot be changed in the GUI.

It is not clear to me what you understand for keyboard format :-?

Installation is a one-time process that ends as soon as the system is

I mean, don't worry about what you have set or not in this stage, it's
worthless.

Contrary, the keyboard could be choosen properly as Swiss German. So, after

Okay, so basically your problem is that your USB keyboard does not
respect your keyboard settings, right? You have set a Swiss layout and
you get an English one.

I guess you could do it in the same way but the file has to be placed
under ~/.config/autostart and having a .desktop file format, for
example:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=fix for k340
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Exec=setxkbmap ch

I have not tested, though :-?

Anyway, also this is not a clean solution. There should be a way to fix
 that properly. Thanks!

Sure, if this is a known problem I would rather report it for others
can also benefit from the fix :-)

ssh sessions with pseudo terminal hang when in kernel events thread hangs

2012-03-19 Thread Sven Hoexter
Hi,
since about December we see machines where interactive ssh sessions hang or
logins are no longer possible. The machine itself is still alive and
using ssh without pseudo terminal allocation works fine (ssh -T).

What we have so far is that this happens on systems with Linux 2.6.32.
(Mostly Debian but we've seen this on one RHEL 6.1 system aswell but there
the patch level was too far off to open a support case.)

Sometimes ssh logins work for a short time, e.g. you see motd and get no prompt
or you can execute a few commands and suddenly it hangs.

Pseudo terminals are allocated just fine and device nodes can bee seen
in /dev/pts/.

When it happens we can see one of the in kernel [events/$x] processes
to be in state D and the number of context switches and interrupts goes
up by factor 6. Most of those interrupts seem to be generated by
hpet on the CPU where the events/$x process is running ($x = number
of the CPU/CPU core of this system).

Has someone seen a similar behaviour? We currently have no idea
how and why it happens. It's all Dell Hardware we're running on
(R210, 410, 710).

Regards,
Sven

There are at least two options. ;)

  1) Stop inetd all together if you don't run any services through
  inetd (or xinetd).

To what purpose? There is no harm in letting inetd run vsftpd.

Well back in the old days we had the tradeoff between startup
time and RAM capacity. Nowdays we have none of that except for
high traffic sites with a lot of connections.

As rule of thumb I'd say if you don't know inetd and the benefits
you might have, don't use it and simply stop it.

In the end you're free to choose but it seems that a running inetd
causes some confusion from time to time.

I did find a script that makes it a little easier, but no info on how to
encode the image file in the right format.

In case anyone wants the script here it is (oggart):

(...)

So is that you're basically having problems with this:

http://superuser.com/questions/169151/embed-album-art-in-ogg-through-command-line-in-linux

Okay, and how are you calling the script and what's the output error you are
getting?

You already know the answer: what does oom stand for?

From the SAR logs we can see that there is lots of memory in use by the
system cache, but free is low. How can we ensure there is more memory
available in free to avoid triggering oom-killer?

Switch to a 64 bit kernel and user space, including 64bit pgsql. This
gives you a flat memory space so any app can have more than 2GB virtual
address space. You already knew this as well, but you've been fighting
the switch tooth and nail, screaming but I shouldn't _have to_, it
works now, mostly. It's the mostly part that is your current
problem. Switch to 64bit with its large flat memory space and you'll be
much happier.

and some apps. run 3x faster...

I still can't understand why so many people are so damn resistant to
going 64bit, *especially* database users, who benefit the most from it.

console keyboard layout (dvorak)

2012-03-19 Thread lina
Hi,

As suggested from list, I switched to dvorak months ago.

But the console (namely Ctrl+F1,F2...) still used the old way, I mean
QREWT way.

Following the http://wiki.debian.org/Keyboard

dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

I set it to dvorak

# dpkg-reconfigure console-data
Looking for keymap to install:
mac-dvorak

But things get weired, everything is normal on the tty terminal, but
on console (hope it's the right name for it). it showed something
unexpected, I went through all keys, even couldn't find the ENTER and
Del, I don't know which layout it's.

Can someone give me some suggestions how to remove the keymap I
installed. since it doesn't work as expected.

Best regards,

RE: apt-get will upgrade aptitude will not

2012-03-19 Thread Bonno Bloksma
To answer most questions asked:

Did you first update the packages database?

 apt-get update
 aptitude update

apt-get and aptitude both use the same package database. Running the
'udpate' for both of them is not required.

I just run apt-get upgrade and said there was nothing to do while running
aptitude upgrade wanted to do very
(I mean *very*) weird things, such as removing a bunch of packages. After
updating aptitude database all went smooth...

1)
My systems are all Squeeze.

2)
~# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free

deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main contrib non-free

# Squeeze-updates, previously known as 'volatile'
deb http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main contrib non-free

3)
The last time I ran a full-upgrade was when I upgraded from Lenny. I think this
system started out as an Etch system years ago.
I'd like to think the aptitude full-upgrade (or apt-get dist-upgrade) is only
to be used when doing major upgrades. But
~# aptitude full-upgrade
The following packages will be upgraded:
  mysql-common
1 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 69.6 kB of archives. After unpacking 57.3 kB will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?]n

4)
The command
~# aptitude search ~ahold
gave no output so there are no held packages in aptitude. I tested that the
last time just before doing the dist-upgrade and I never hold packages unless
there is a VERY good reason.

But remember the aptitude upgrade gave
No packages will be installed, upgraded, or removed.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
So there is that
  ... and 1 not upgraded.
In that line. For some reason aptitude will not upgrade that 1 component.

5)
Aptitude upgrade with the -v (or -vv or -vvv) switch gives not much more info,
just:
Current status: 0 broken [+0], 1 update [+0], 16431 new [+0].

6)
~# apt-cache showpkg mysql-common

 J.

It's NOT a workaround. It is correct usage. In aptitude if you want
_everything_ upgraded, you have to say so, otherwise it will safe-upgrade
and nothing will be removed, and some things will not be updated. I am
suggesting using correct aptitude procedure before trying workarounds.

The reason for the behavior is apt-get != aptitude.
