Viewing attachments in Pine
Hello! I have a problem with viewing attachements (JPEG) in pine. When I press V(iew) I see for a short time the decompressing message of the zgv, but than the monitor reacts with a refresh screen and I'm back in pine, without beeing able to see the attachement. However, if I save the attachement in the home directory and then give the zgv filename command, it works. What could be the problem? I'm using pine-3.96 and debian-hamm. Please answer me privately, as I'm not currently a subscriber of this list. TIA, Catalin -- Dr. Catalin M. Serial line appears to be looped back.
I managed quite easily to get my ppp running (using the config scripts included with the Debian 1.3 instalation). Everything was OK until a few days ago. I've noticed that after phoning and connecting succesfully to my ISP I get the following message Serial line appears to be looped back. I suspect that this is due to friend of mine who tried to config some applications. He probably modified something somewhere and made my ppp-connection unusable. He's away for a while and I don't know where to look to fix this problem. Please help, Catalin Catalin M. Popescu, Dermatologist str. Marcu M. emacs starting very slow
I have Debian Linux 1.3. running on a 486-66Mhz with 32 Mb RAM with me as a single user. Until recently emacs was starting in about 2-3 seconds. In the last few days I've noticed that it takes about 12--15 seconds to start. What could possibly have happened? It seems that also other programs (such as pine) are running more slowly. TIA, Catalin PS Please respond to my private e-mail address as I've temporarily unsubscribed from the debian-list. Catalin M. Popescu, Dermatologist str. Marcu M. RE: How can I get the Emacs manual?
Thank you for the information. But what's the file's name. I saw only huge files (which I presume include the WHOLE emacs). As I had a quite slow phone link I would prefer to download the manual only. .forward and .procmailrc
Hi, It's me again. I looked what's in the logfile of smail in an attempt to see what is wrong with my .forward and .procmailrc files. I cannot figure out what to do next, but it seems to me that it is something wrong _before_ procmail, so procmail does not get any mail to process. I wonder why is this happening because I put the .forward file with the recommended text: |IFS=' ' exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #cpopescu with the following permissions: -rw-r--r-- 1 cpopescu cpopescu 67 Feb 2 18:14 .forward Here is a relevant part of the logfile of smail: --- 02/04/1998 22:36:19: [m0y0BYR-000I3ZC] Received FROM:[EMAIL PROTECTED] HO\ST:localhost PROTOCOL:smtp PROGRAM:sendmail ORIG-ID:[EMAIL PROTECTED] SIZE:462 02/04/1998 22:36:20: [m0y0BYR-000I3ZC] Failed TO:|IFS=' ' exec /usr/bin/pro\cmail -f- || exit 75 #cpopescu DIRECTOR:dotforward TRANSPORT:pipe ERROR:(ERR14\4) transport pipe: child returned status EX_2 (2) 02/04/1998 22:36:20: [m0y0BYS-000I8uC] Received FROM:+ HOST:pitagora PROTOCOL\:bsmtp PROGRAM:smail SIZE:4694 02/04/1998 22:36:21: [m0y0BYS-000I8uC] Failed TO:|IFS=' ' exec /usr/bin/pro\cmail -f- || exit 75 #cpopescu DIRECTOR:dotforward TRANSPORT:pipe ERROR:(ERR14\4) transport pipe: child returned status EX_2 (2) 02/04/1998 22:36:21: [m0y0BYS-000I8uC] mail moved to /var/spool/smail/error/0y0\BYS-000I8uC 02/04/1998 22:36:21: [m0y0BYR-000I3ZC] Error sent FOR:|IFS=' ' exec /usr/bi\n/procmail -f- || exit 75 #cpopescu TO:postmaster 02/04/1998 22:36:21: [m0y0BYR-000I3ZC] Completed. -- Any clues will be most appreciated. Re: procmail and folders
On Wed, 4 Feb 1998, Remco Blaakmeer wrote: Don't know if you're interested in this input, but if you use sendmail instead of smail, it can just automatically use procmail to deliver mail. Thus, you don't need a .forward file at all. You just have to make sure that procmail is installed and deliver is not when you install sendmail. Then sendmail will configure itself to use procmail for all local mail delivery. You can do the same with smail, using some changes to /etc/smail/transports. This is what I used to have (I think it was created by smailconfig): local: driver=appendfile, from, local, inet, return_path, unix_from_hack; append_as_user, check_user, file=/var/spool/mail/${lc:strip:user}, group=mail, mode=0660, notify_comsat, suffix=\n Change the above to this: local: driver=pipe, from, local, return_path, unix_from_hack; user=root, cmd=/usr/bin/procmail -f- -d $($user$) Now all locally delivered mail will be handled by procmail. Mail for users that don't have a .procmailrc will go into /var/spool/mail/username, just like it should. You don't need a .forward with this setup. Remco Thank you. I've made all the above changes, but it still doesn't work. Catalin -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Trouble? e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
