Re: libc6 problem after apt-get

2000-09-27 Thread Joel Gautschi
I dit an apt-get remove and apt-get install of libc6, still not working.

the following thing worked for me (tk told me the whole thing on #debian):

---
tk I downgraded the libc in the following order:
libdb2_2.4.14-2.7.7.1.c.deb, libc6*.deb locales_2.1.3-13_i386.deb, all the
files need to be downloaded locally. If apt/dpkg complains about ldconfig,
you need to download ldso_1.9.11-9.deb, do dpkg -x ldso*.deb foo cp
foo/sbin/ldconfig.new /sbin/ and retry
---

Install the downloaded .deb files with
dpkg -i

you should be able to find most of files on
ftp://security.debian.org/debian-security/dists/potato/updates/main/
otherwise search in potato.

hope this helps!

horde: install problem

2000-09-06 Thread Joel Gautschi
hi,

if i try to install the horde debian package (horde 2:1.2.0-12) for debian
unstable i get the following warning:

---
Working, please wait...Checking non-HORDE config files
   WARNING
You stated your using PostgreSQL as a database and
that it is local yet the install program cannot seem
to find the config files for it. The install program
will NOT confiugre your database for use with HORDE
and thus will not function properly until you get this
fixed.

Please press ENTER
---

press ENTER doesn't work. I have to end with ctrl+c
why do I get this warning? I don't have a PostgreSQL database - I have a
MySQL DB. Or do I have configured it somewhere?

thanks for an answer...

apt-get on linux / download on NT

1999-07-19 Thread Joel Gautschi
I want to do the following thing:
I have a debian (slink) pc at home. Sometimes I want to update some packages
or even the whole system - f.e. to a later debian dist. the problem is that
I don't have a static connection to the internet (or sth like that) at home.
My connection isn't fast enough if i want to upgrade to a later
debain-dist... (- it would cost a lot of money). the best solution would be
if I could generate a list of the needed packages for upgrade on my
linux pc at home (f.e. with apt-get). then I want to take this list to a NT
workstation at firm (where we have a static internet connection) and
download there the needed debian packages (automaticly with help of the
generated list on my pc). any ideas how I can do that?
