compile the kernel error!?
I had installed Kernel source 2.2.9 on Debian 2.1 potato from Debian FTP site. Right, compiling the kernel then what happened to stop itself. /usr/src/linux-2.2.9# make bzImage make: *** No rule to make target `scripts/split-include.c', needed by `scripts/split-include'. Stop. miss something clue? Thanks Kam
Netscap4 (potato)
Hi Netscape46 installed on Debian 2.1 (potato) from /unstable/potato directory. I couldn't find 'netscape' in /usr/bin directory What's wrong with it. by the way, Netscape45 installed on Debian 2.1 slink. It works. THanks Kam.

ncpmount: no server?
Hi I had been compiled the kernel with IPX and NCPFS driver which is already connecting to the Novell netware. I have configure nwe_mars.conf in /etc/ directory. Then I log on my user and testing 'nprint' command to output printer. It says:- ncpmount /home/fred ncpmount: No server found in find_conn_spec. nprint ascii.txt nprint: No server found when initializing connection. I have no idea what does that mean? please help me what explain. Netscape error
I had installed Netscape 4.04 communicator on Linux done. everything is ok but it has a problem. I tried to resize Netscape on Xwindows then later, logging off. Next day, I loaded Netscape with Xwindows. It went crash back to the user prompt. Fatal server error: Free: mismatched size. What does that mean? Help me! eth0: error
Hi, I have installed Debian 1.3.1.r6 completely. Setting up the network as I know about DNS, IP number etc.. i find it was hard to setup eth0 but it has an error. Installing module SMC-Ultra. Loading device 'eth0' smc-ultra.c: No SMC Ultra card (i/o=0x280). /lib/modules/2.0.29/net/smc-ultra.0: init_module: Device or resource busy. Executing module post-install script 'cdromsymlink'. script: -ultra -ultra: not found. Executing shell_smc_ultra failed. That where i start to install Debian 1.3.1 with ethernet support. I have installed X11 package completely but it has a problem. Xserver_SVGA was installed ok, config it done then running xdm. i tried to type 'startx' to say: X: exec of /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_NONE failed. i got a problem with that. What does that mean? I forgot to put Microsoft mouse in Serial port but it was very funny i see a pointer on X-windows.. it couldn't moving around the desktop. Hi Debian world, Thank you for helping me about XF86Setup, Xserver_svga,x86config,xbase. I had installed Debian Linux 1.3.1.r6 and X-windows package completely without a CD rom and a CD. I am using FTP installation. X-windows is now working for me. Well done Thank you, all Debian users. I see the bare x-windows on Debian Linux. It looks original windows and no application at all. There is no manager with menus. it was very funny. How do I put up Windows Explorer/Menus? and how do I setup fvwm95? Fvwm95 was installed done. I have already downloading all X11 packages on his HD. XF86Setup get error
I have installed X11 packages it says XF86Setup Not all of the Configuration and application default files are installed. The file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc is missing. Libc5: Idconfig error
I have the basic debian 1.2, installed Libc5 and Binutils but it was an error. install Libc5.deb then what happened? ldconfig: warning: can't open /usr/local/lib (no such file or directory), skipping. i know that, but i dont know what name of library files? Which one of the deb files do I need ? eg. libbfd2.7.0.9.deb Sometimes, I confused to find out the huge library on Ftp site. help! Hi Which one of kernel source file do I need? thats why, I gonna build the new kernel with network card added I found in the /usr/src directory there isnt Kernel source files. the one is currently Linux kernel 2.0.29. i read debian installation document, it say to install the kernel source first then rebuild the kernel. Hi, i just run 'modconfig' to install the network driver, it found the problem. My ethernet is called SMC8000 16-Bit ISA(10Mbp), which it can run Novell IPX and TCP/IP software. I cant find the network driver like smc9124.c in the Debian Linux directory. Debian 1.3 problems
Hi I own an 386sx with 4mb of RAM, installed debian 1.3 on 386 at least 4MB it was a problem, the machine goes stopping, I dont know what happened something wrong. I try installed debian 1.2 on my machine with at least 4MB so it works done to appear the menu installation thats fine. Debian 1.3 is too big to fit on 4MB of ram thats why it keeps blow up my 386 with 4mb of ram. it says You do not have enough RAM. that which I use debian boot disk to boot up without start up to DOS. Anyone else has 486 with 4mb of ram. try install debian 1.3 - I think so it works or might be. I have a debian linux 1.2 now. kernel panic fs?
Hi I own an 386 with 4MB of ram, I want to do my best about solve the problem. at other day, I installed Debian linux on my hard disk with DOS partition as well. it takes a few mins but what happened.. I am beginner of new linux. RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0. VFS: Cannot open root device 03:42. Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03.41. What does that mean?
