Thanks, I was able to place a 2.2.5 kernel with the aic7xxx driver on
the rescue disk and it boots now.

Installing Debian on Dell PowerEdge 2300 problem

1999-08-25 Thread Krzysztof Adamski
I'm trying to install debian on the dell, the second scsi controller is
detected (it has only a cdrom drive) but the first one is not.

Do I need a different rescue disk or just different parameters to the
kernel.

There is already RedHat on the system, but the kernel that comes with it
does not work when placed on the rescue disk since it does not have all
the install options compiled into it.

Thanks in advance

How to have 2 NE200 cards in the same box

1998-05-28 Thread Krzysztof Adamski
Hi All

I'm trying to have two NE2000 cards in the same box, I have this two lines
in /etc/modules
ne io=0x340,irq=15
ne io=0x300,irq=5

The first card is configured fine, but not the second. If I switch the
order then again the first one is fine.

I have made a copy of ne.o to be called ne2.o and changed the modules
file to have ne and ne2. This works, but it seems like a bad way of doing
it, what is the correct way?

Re: vhost popper?

1998-03-26 Thread Krzysztof Adamski
A simpler way would be to add a mapping in the pop server that first
checks through the virtualuser table (what sendmail uses) for the
email address requested.
Then just uses (for example:) joe21 as the real mailbox. This way you
don't haveto listen on different IP's, and you don't have to have other config
files.

So, user puts [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the username field of his pop client,
your server translates this to joe21, and retrives the mail in a normal
way.

One way of making it easer is to call sendmail -bv [EMAIL PROTECTED]
directly from the popserver and see that the output is.

Re: DEC tulip 10/100 ethernet

Hi
What is the make of the card, I have the same problem with D-Link card. It
works with the de4x5 driver, you many need to find out what IO address it
is at. (This you should be able to get from the ifconfig command with the
current tulip driver).

A different problem that I have with the tulip driver with the ASUS DEC10
card (based on DEC21040 chip) is that when I unplug the TP cable, I get
'Switching to AUI port', from then on I can't get it to use the TP port
anymore, except by rebooting. This card is TP/BNC only.

I am able to ping the loopback but when I try to ping another machine or
my router i get eth0 enabled 100tx port. It appears as if it wants

Is there a file or something else I need to edit to make sure it tries to
