aptitude purge flashplugin-nonfree hang
Hello! My System is Debian GNU/Linux Etch and Half. I have installed flashplugin-nonfree and it works well with iceweasel so far. Then I edit /apt/sources.list --- deb http://www.backports.org/debian etch-backports main contrib non-free --- and setup apt to can use deb packages from Debian Backports. I edit the /apt/preferences file: --- Package: * Pin: release a=etch-backports Pin-Priority: 200 -- Then I made an upgrade and I think then was upgraded flashplugin-nonfree too. Now I have flashplugin-nonfree version 1:1.4~bpo40+1. The iceweasel crash when I try to open a webpage: http://www.hobbielektronika.hu/cikkek/nullarol_a_robotokig_-_pic_mikrovezerlok_i_resz.html?pg=1Submit=%3E%3E That was yesterday. Today iceweasel can't open at all this web page. I can't to purge nor remove flashplugin-nonfree with aptitude. Aptitude hangs at this task. What can I do to solve this problem? I think I must to build a custom kernel for this pourpose. I red man bootcdwrite and there stand this: It is important that the kernel can access the cdrom on the system, where you want to boot from the CD, without having to load any modules. (Because to load modules from CD, the kernel must have access to CD before). If this is not the case you have first to create a new kernel with CD-support built in. I have installed 2.6.18-5-686 SMP linux-image. I searched in config-2.6.18-5-686 file for the CD support line, but not shore whether I finded it. Is it the following lines? Symple method to transfer some packages from Desktop system to laptop Debian Etch system?
Hello! I have a Desktop Debian GNU/Linux Etch with network connection, and a laptop with installed only Debian GNU/Linux from netinstall.iso, but laptop has not network connection. I downloaded this netinst.iso and I want not to download any more CD iso files. Is it a method how to copy some more debian packages from my desktop Debian Etch to laptop Debian Etch, say with USB drive? I can't use apt-zip on laptop system because the netinst.iso CD does not have apt-zip package. The bootcd application can write only the whole system to laptop, but I want not this to do. Are there any other symple method to transfer some packages from my Desktop Debian Etch system to my laptop Debian Etch system? installing packages from iso file
Hello! I installed Debian Etch on a PC box with netinstall CD. Now I want to remove CD driver from this box. But I want before that to copy the netisntall.iso file to HDD on that box. So, when I have removed the CD drive, I want that, that apt can use this iso file to install some packages. How can I do that? I try Google, but cant find a solution. I think I must first to mount these netinstall.iso with loop device: mount -o loop -t iso9660 netinstall.iso /mnt/iso but this is not the right way because I want to automate this, so I think I must edit fstab for this issue: /dev/lo /media/cdrom0 iso9660 loop0 0 Then I must run 'apt-cdrom add', so I run it: LANG=en_EN sudo apt-cdrom add Success! Your X was working, you just didn't have a WM set as the default, or setup in ~/.xinitrc. This was yesterday. Today I purge the wdm, xserver-xorg, and install xserver-xorg but without wdm again. why did you purge it? it was working. I try now to get X Window with startx, but without success. Again, in *what way* are you not having success? you Xorg.0.log again looks ust fine. You are still facing the same problem as above. Please answer the following questions and I'll help you. WHat window manager do you want to use? I want to use Window Maker. What is the output of (as root): update-alternatives --config x-window-manager There is only 1 program which provides x-window-manager (/usr/bin/wmaker). Nothing to configure. you'll need to just press enter to keep it as currently set. Do you have a ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession file? if so, what are the contents? I have not .xinitrc less ~/.xsession is: #!/bin/bash ##[Desktop Entry] #Encoding=hu_HU #Name=Window maker #Comment=This session logs you into Window Maker #Exec=/usr/bin/wmaker ## no icon yet, only the top three are currently used #Icon= #Type=Application -- Regards, Paul Csanyi http://www.freewebs.com/csanyi-pal/index.htm -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Aside from all the commercial (game?) kits are there serious Linux applications that he should consider? If so, how best to get started? Tom Hello, wow ! great for your grandson, and you for supporting him. What kind of robot does he have ? A Lego Mindstorm ? Or does he want to build his own robot ? For example those that follows light or a white line ... Best regards, Sergio For me the question is also interesting. I have Lego Mindstorms. -- Regards, Paul Csanyi http://www.freewebs.com/csanyi-pal/index.htm
