Re: netscape 4.7 and download
Jean-Yves: Usually netscape asks which directory you want it to download to. Just choose (I tend to use tmp) and remember the directory. Eric
Re: Anacron job 'cron.daily'
Hi! I've been getting this on anacron for several days. Tried to re-install htdig package but still getting this: /etc/cron.daily/htdig: DB2 problem...: missing or empty key value specified Since I'm a relative newbie with no programming skills (sigh!) can anyone tell me of a fix for this? Thanks. eric wolven
Anancron report (daily)
Sorry I didn't include on my previous message that I'm running potato. Anancron started reporting the error below after a deslect-upgrade last week in which I included the htdig-wwwoffle combo to try it out. /etc/cron.daily/htdig DB2 problem...: missing or empty key value specified eric wolven
Re: kernel upgrade options
Try using dselect to select the kernel-source you want as well as kernel package which has the scripts for a Debian-style kernel install. Read the docs with kernel package. I've tried both SuSe and RedHat and find Debian easier to get around in--most of the time. Eric Wolven
Re: Diamond Stealth 3D 4000 X
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Andrew: I don't seem to be having the same kind of problems with the DS 3D 4000. However, configuring X was slightly touchy. I had to use a combo of xf86config and touched it up with XF86Setup I finally settled on 16 bps with 800x600, 1024x768, 640x480. It uses the svga server. Have you added the xxa benchmark, pci_burst, pci_retry, fifo_moderate 4 mb (or whatever) video ram lines? Eric Wolven I'm having problems with one of my machines running X. It is very unstable freezing the whole machine requiring a hard reset ramdomly (Sometimes I resize a window and it happens) as well as on startup of certain programs (Halo scren saver and xzed amongst others) and I was wondering if it could be because my video card isn't fully supported under my current version of xsvga (Whatevers in slink ATM) although it is listed in the supported cards on xfree86.org. My question is does anyone know if the version in unstable supports Diamond Stealth 3D 4000 (I pay for access by the meg, so if it won't fix it, I won't bother) or has anyone else had success/problems with this card, or perhaps I'm blaming the wrong thing for my problems. I have tried a few different window managers (fvwm2 and enlightenment) and under both setups the same problems. Should I try another window manager? Or are there a few specific programs that everyone has problems with? Any information that helps me to fix this problem is greatly appreciated, Kindest regards, Andrew Clark. -- Unsubscribe? mail -s unsubscribe [EMAIL PROTECTED] /dev/null -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: 2.6.3a Charset: noconv iQBVAwUBOAQSHQ8VisVl7fm1AQH4KAH/TruGfk+p9W7cq8h4EqoLhGEbJO91vZqa fo0k8uolDxJ3A2h+HLEvU4bzYCmo3zlf/d0vN5jBN6Lpmxs9QtEjig== =5CPM -END PGP SIGNATURE-
Re: anacron read out
I re-installed fileutils and shellutils since I was getting error messages about not finding du and id as well. Seems to be working just fine. Thanks for the suggestions. labels
Greetings: I am running potato with an hpdeskjet 540c installed as my printer. I would like to find out how to print labels under Debian linux. I am a hobbyist bee-keeper and give labeled honey jars to friends. Last year I printed my labels under a windows program but want to use debian to print this year. (I also don't have windows installed anymore. :) Thanks for any help you can give me. Eric Wolven
Re: Netscape - Fontsizes
Bernhard: Try going to About.com---Computer/Technology---OS---Linux Once at Hsiao's main page, go to Search (this site) and enter fonts. Useful info on fonts, Netscape, et al. Eric K. Light, no heat. JonesMB wrote: Bernhard, If you figure out a way around this please let me know. This past weekend I spent some time (again) trying to do the same thing. The font sizes don't even change no matter what you specify in Netscape. Maybe we can edit the preferences file and save it there ourselves. That way when it starts up again it reads what we set the font to. I find the font problem a very annoying feature of Netscape in Linux and Solaris. jmb Does anybod know how to set the default fontsize in netscape? If I use Edit/Preferences/Fonts it works for the current session but it is not saved even Netscape doesn't crash and I exit as intended by the Netscape-programmers :-C Is it possible to use a minimum fontsize that FONT SIZE=-3 will be radable while a H1 letter will not fill the whole screen?
