Re: Base Installation problems.
I had the same problem trying a harddisk install of slink (from scratch). It kept giving me the file error (and the floppy install of the base didn't work well either). I just got a new version of base2_1.tgz from the ftp site, and it worked fine. See if you can do that, as that might be the easiest solution. - Original Message - From: Peter S Galbraith [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Assad Khan [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: debian-user@lists.debian.org Sent: Friday, April 09, 1999 9:54 AM Subject: Re: Base Installation problems. Copy your files to a DOS16 (MS-DOS or equivalent) partition on your hard disk. Delete the corrupt file, and replace it with the same file downloaded from any FTP site which mirrors slink. You can then install it from your DOS partition. I'[m suggesting this because it sounds like the file on your CD is corrupt. If you have used these CD's for an install before and have had no problems, then this solution will not work. From your mail though, it sounds like these are new CD's. There are a few How-to's which cover the specifics on this. I'm not sure of any exact URL's, but a quick trip to Debian.org will point you to the right place. Either that, or they will be on your CD's. Adam
