What do you mean by this? Are you saying the US wasn't trying to win in
Vietnam? In Iraq? In East Timor? In Afghanistan?

I will concede the Bay of Pigs though.

Except I am not running any VM's, just quasi-stock wheezy with additions,
mostly from the wheezy repo's except for the linuxcnc stuffs. The above
command line addition in defaults works fine now.

OK, fired up a Jessie VM and installed TDE-Trinity

I think:

Trinity Control Center
 TDE Components
 Default Applications
 Web Browser
 x in the following browser
 firefox -new-tab $1

I didn't bother to install Firefox within the VM, however.
So Gene ought to know better than I do ...

Me?

I had a similar problem as Gene did. Since the Debian switch from iceweasel to
firefox I always copied the URL and then pasted/go into the URL field. That was
inconvenient.
man firefox
And since Gene's e-mail header mentions kmail as his e-mail client I thought
he must be using KDE same as I. Looking in Kmail setup did not come up with
any mention of a browser. Jörg-Volker's hint didn't work either for me [thank
you anyway] so I looked into the KDE System Settings. Browser is an
application, no?
So under "Applications" I found "Web Browser" - it was still set to "iceweasel
$1" so voila.

Have a nice day/night

How about kmail, 1.9.10, I am using trinity R14.0.3 ATM, and cannot find
such a configuration item.

Thanks.

Gene,
as you seem to use kmail in System Settings / Default Applications / Web
Browser enter
"firefox -new-tab $1"
Provided you want the link to appear in a new tab instead of a new window

How does that go?

It may depend on which mail tool you use. In icedove/thunderbird I'd take a look
at Edit -> Preferences -> Attachments -> Incoming and check what is configured
there for http, https, ftp, file. In my case the Action is "Use x-www-browser".
And /etc/alternatives/x-www-browser is a link to /usr/bin/firefox .

Thanks Tom. Its hell for an old fart who can still remember his
grandfathers tears the night of Dec 7, 1941. Tears because he knew we
would declare war.

And I believe thats the last war we fully intended to win. Its all been

New firefox isn't working

2016-03-25 Thread Gene Heskett
Greetings all;

The reason is that it treats every clicked on link in an email, into a
download of the site, which kills lots of time, and the subsequent
display of the site by showing the file://tmp/somehashnumber it has
downloaded in the address titlebar.

Is this my fault, or firefox? If my fault, how do I fix it?
