Re: Re: Debian-installer crashes
Then you can follow the recommended steps to getting additional information about the crash: 5.4. Troubleshooting the Installation Process http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/en.i386/ch05s04.html#submit-bug Or you can try with another medium. Network images or CD, for example. I will not filled a bug report because this is a weekly version. So, I hope that in the next week it is covered. I bypass this problem starting the installation with a old version (2009) and add the newest dvd when prompted me. I have a little problem with GRUB2, because old version use GRUB 0.9. I bypass it in part (UUII problem). I install the minimal system and now I am searching a workaround to put my Atheros wireless up. I need wpasupplicant and all deps (I am looking for a way to download all deps together). I will try to modify /etc/network/interfaces. My AP use wpa2 passphrase. This issues is welcome because it is an opportunity to upgrade my knowledge. :) Thank you very much! Re: Re: Debian-installer crashes
Try with weakly (not daily) debian.iso Daily have bugs sometimes. And off course check MD5sum and burn iso on lowest speed. I have the weakly version and MD5sum is OK. I burn a new DVD in a lowest speed and the problem persists. When the installer is on Configuring APT, the red bar shows 25% and crashes on executing cdset... Re: Re: Debian Installer SATA detection
I have the same setup as you; a Shuttle S20G5 with a SATA hard drive. I was able to get Debian installed but when it reboots I get a kernel panic after I choose Linux in GRUB. I used one of the daily builds for the debian installer. I used the one dated 20050721 because I was having trouble with the more current one (20050729). I started the installer using 'expert26' mode. I got to the point where it asked my what disk module to load, I choose the 'sata_uli' module. The installer will say it didn't detect any disks but if you just select 'Go Back' and then select the next step (I think its like detect hardware or something), it will allow you to go forward. In the detect partition step, it will see your SATA hard drive and you can continue with the installer. I think this 'workaround' was fixed in the current debian installer build. I was able to install GRUB and when my system restarted I got this kernel panic error. Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init. 4drives/usb/input/hid-core.c ctrl usb status -2 received drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: timoeut initializing reports input: USB HID v1.00 Mouse [ARROW STRONG USB MOUSE] on usb-.00:1c.0-1 not sure what the error means. I'm trying to figure out what a kernel panic means and how to fix it. thanks. -Bryant

Very interesting... I have enough information now to get on with the install. Thanks. -- H.A.J. Koster Behavioral axioms are right, but agents make mistakes... (attributed to L.J. Savage) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
