So, how to manage to enable at compile time? I don't find a point to unmark
in the Makefile, where GUI would be enabled!
$ apt-cache search gvim
netrik - text mode WWW browser with vi like keybindings
zope-externaleditor - Zope External Editor
zopeedit - Helper Application for Zope External Editor
vim-full - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - full fledged version
vim-gnome - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with GNOME2 GUI
vim-gtk - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with GTK2 GUI
vim-lesstif - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with LessTif GUI
vim-perl - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with Perl support
vim-python - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with Python support
vim-ruby - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with Ruby support
vim-tcl - Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - with TCL support

You could try one of the above...

gvim / vim -g WON'T WORK

2007-01-19 Thread Arno Valentin
I have got the same Problem, but with Verision vim 70. and HP-UX 11.11.

Makefile says:

# - If you want a version of Vim that is small and starts up quickly,
#you might want to disable the GUI, X11, Perl, Python and Tcl.
# - Uncomment the line with --disable-gui if you have Motif, GTK and/or
#Athena but don't want to make gvim (the GUI version of Vim with nice
#menus and scrollbars, but makes Vim bigger and startup slower).

So, if I change nothing, gui should be installed.

but gvim -g answers:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/src/vim vim -g
E25: GUI cannot be used: Not enabled at compile time

Now i've got the same effekt with Version 6.4 - which should be simpler.
What I am making wrong?

How to enable GUI during compile time?

gvim / vim -g WON'T WORK

2003-01-28 Thread Joris Huizer
Hello everybody,

When I try to run gvim I get this error:

E25: GUI cannot be used: Not enabled at compile time

What does it mean ? How can it be solved ?
I'm not somebody who thinks every prog should be
graphical but it's easier to have more than one file
open so I can view them at the same time

Thanks,

Joris Huizer

Do you have the vim-gtk package installed? If not, you won't be able to
run gvim.

Methinks you have only vim installed. If you install vim-gtk then you
shold get gvim.

Hi Joris,

an 'apt-get install vim-gtk' should solve that!

Cheers,
Bruno.
