That looks okay. Two things I'd try:

1) change the woody to stable. Shouldn't make a difference, but it's
worth a shot.

2) Delete the ftp line and re-type it. I suspect you may have a hidden
control character in the line or something like that.

Arkansas: Your tax dollars at work here with this guy.

apt-cache search ftp
(find one that looks good)
apt-cache show package name
(to find out if it's really what you want.
apt-get install package name
(to download and install the package you've settled on)

Um, you could install an FTP server.

What exactly are you asking?

Um, you could install an FTP server.

-j

apt-get install ftpd

on the server box, or even better,

apt-get install ssh

on the server box, followed by sftp server_box from the client box
(assuming the client also has ssh installed). sftp, part of the ssh
package, is more secure than ftp.

apt-cache search ftpd

#apt-get install proftpd

is my personal recommendation,

 apt-cache search ftpd

a slightly better solution for this would be

apt-cache search ftp-server

ftp-server is the default in the Provides: section for ftp daemons and
thus this search should list all ftp servers in debian. similar works
for httpd, mail-transport-agent, mail-reader etc.
