 Might be the best option for inactive upstream projects like dom4j,

That approach might work; I'll review my current list of variants for
patchsets that could be applied (and document it somewhere so it can
easily be reviewed).

Most changes either seem to be adding new distinct features or fixing
minor bugs that where impacting Jenkins.

Is there any specific policy on taking this approach? In effect Debian
would be branching from the original upstream - this is in principle the
same as what jenkins are doing upstream although it would reduce the
code duplication in the distro.

 Code duplication is always a bad thing (tm) from a distribution POV :
 increase maintenance overhead,
 imply some security issues have to be fixed multiple times...

 YMMV, but I don't consider this a blocking issue or a no-go for JenkisCI
 but I think
 we should at least describe this case explicitly :

Thanks for the feedback and for pointing me at the above

  Description : embedding RDF in HTML the crazy way

 Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a standard model for data
 interchange on the Web.
 .
 RDF can be embedded in (X)HTML using simple script tags. This is
 described at http://esw.w3.org/N3inHTML . This gives you a file format
 that can contain multiple (optionally named) graphs.
 .
 HTML::Embedded::Turtle parses HTML files containing such graphs, and
 allows you to access them each individually; as a union of all graphs
 on the page; or as a union of just the endorsed graphs.
 .
 Despite the module name, this module supports a variety of script
 types:
  * text/turtle
  * application/turtle
  * application/x-turtle
  * text/plain (N-Triples)
  * application/x-rdf+json (RDF/JSON)
  * application/json (RDF/JSON)
  * application/rdf+xml (RDF/XML)
 .
 Although it doesn't support full N3, it recognises the following as
 well, but treats them as Turtle:
  * text/n3
  * text/rdf+n3

I'm taking over maintainership of Snoopy with the blessing of the
previous maintainer (Marc Haber). The new package is being built from
the upstream Git against the latest release tag (1.8.0), and
/etc/ld.so.preload is being handled manually from the postinst/prerm
files without needing a preload-manager.

The situation is that basically Grilo doesn't have a stable API/ABI
yet, so instead of waiting for that to happen I think it makes sense
to package it for experimental in the meantime as Andreas suggested.

However I've been talking to upstream about this and they said they're
not going to break anything anymore in the 0.1.x series, so we can
create stable packages for that one right now.

All major changes will happen in the 0.2.x series, which is due to
start soon, with 0.1.x in maintenance mode happening in parallel.

I'm planning to start working on this in the next days/weeks.

Berto

Hey, I hadn't noticed that there was an ITP bug for grilo-plugins as
well :)

I was actually planning to package both grilo and its plugins. The
thing is that all the lead developers work with me (Igalia started the
project) and I have direct contact with them, so I think it will be
easier if I maintain (or at least co-maintain) both packages.

What do you think?

 The m2300w driver is an open source Linux driver for the
 Konica Minolta magicolor 2300W and 2400W color laser printers.
 .
 The driver is basically intended for being used in conjunction with
 foomatic (see http://www.openprinting.org/foomatic.html), which
 is a database-driven system for integrating free software printer
 drivers with common spoolers under Unix, like CUPS, LPRng, LPD,
 GNUlpr, PPR, PDQ, CPS, and direct printing.

Note: this will be maintained under the Debian Printing Team Umbrella and is
basically a merge back from Ubuntu; thanks to them !

 This maven plugin allows applications to define custom
 access modifiers programmatically, to be enforced at
 compile time in the opt-in basis. Obviously, there's no
 runtime check either --- this is strictly a voluntary
 annotation.
 .
 This mechanism is useful for actually making sure that
 deprecated features are not used (without actually removing
 such declarations, which would break binary compatibility.)

2011-06-09 Thread alice ferrazzi
Hello,
i don't think is a nice thing to upload a non-free package...
and i have made the same package too but no one have take care for
upload it in debian.

so i have make this votebox in dropbox for make the dropbox client open source
https://www.dropbox.com/votebox/196/dropbox-open-source

and i have also tried to modify the image in the dropbox client for
patch the non-free version but there is something that make it
impossibile to do.

so i don't like this upload because looks like a jump over my start,
if some one would like to have dropbox client in debian it can upload
my first version (from debian new maintainers site one some months
ago) and wait for the updates or give a hand starting from my work
not from skratch...

i had made the package for myself and upload it in the debian new
maintainers site but no one have sponsored it because of the software
blob and see that is uploaded with blob in some other way looks a bit
wired

 not from skratch...

I'm sorry but you retitled the ITP to RFP indicating that you were no
longer interested in packaging this software. I don't think you can claim
that I jumped over you.

If you want to help or submit changes to my package, feel free, there's a
Git repository.

Replacing the non-free images would only allow the software to go to contrib,
it would not change much.

Bug#629622: ITP: jenkins-htmlunit-core-js -- Jenkins branch of the HtmlUnit Core JS Interpreter

2011-06-09 Thread Damien Raude-Morvan
Le jeudi 09 juin 2011 10:41:24, James Page a écrit :
 That approach might work; I'll review my current list of variants for
 patchsets that could be applied (and document it somewhere so it can
 easily be reviewed).
 Most changes either seem to be adding new distinct features or fixing
 minor bugs that where impacting Jenkins.

Ok, fine for me.

 Is there any specific policy on taking this approach? In effect Debian
 would be branching from the original upstream - this is in principle the
 same as what jenkins are doing upstream although it would reduce the
 code duplication in the distro.

AFAIK, generic policy regarding patches in Debian package is linked to Debian
Social Contract, section 2 We will give back to the free software
community. Main goal is to submit most patches upstream to also improve FOSS
ecosystem in general.

But it's a bit complicated to apply to inactive upstream, so we can just
include patches inside Debian and send them to upstream bugtracker (so at
least other Linux dist can benefit from it.

Cheers,

  Description : high level email parsing and manipulation module

The Courriel class exists to provide a high level API for working with
emails, particular for processing incoming email. It is primarily a wrapper
around the other classes in the Courriel distro, especially
Courriel::Headers, Courriel::Part::Single, and Courriel::Part::Multipart. If
you need lower level information about an email, it should be available from
one of this classes.

This software is still very alpha, and the API may change without warning in
future versions.

Bug#590180: Sigile Debian package

2011-06-09 Thread Kan-Ru Chen
Benj. Mako Hill m...@atdot.cc writes:

 Hello Kanru (and others!)

 I'm willing to put in an evening of work or two to help package
 dependencies or do other work to get this package uploaded. Do you
 have a repository where you are working? What, in particular, needs to
 be changed?

Thank you for bring this up again! I feel so bad that I cannot complete
this package quickly.

It seems I had created a collab-maint repository[1] but haven't pushed
anything yet, because of some non-free part that I don't want to put on
alioth. My local repository was purged accidentally in my last disk
cleanup, fortunately emacs backup and notes was kept so I can rebuild
the repository and publish it this weekend.

Sigil uses so many convenience copy of libraries (three zip libraries!)
so in order to package Sigil one have to package the dependencies first.

A while ago Pino sent to me two patches that make Sigil to use system
boost and zlib library, attached for reference.

Remaining dependencies are

*** FlightCrew
