Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The current maintainer of mgp, Fumitoshi UKAI ,
is apparently not active anymore. Therefore, I orphan this package now.

The package currently has 46 open bugs and a few upstream releases not
packaged. I will likely package the latest upstream as a QA upload.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please take it -- see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Thank you,

modernisation as soon as I have time, as I need mgp working n̲o̲w̲
 - yes, I’ve seen the bug list, but I have a workshop this weekend
 - clean up debian/control a bit while here
   * Begin cleaning up the debian/rules mess
 - update CPPFLAGS/CFLAGS/LDFLAGS and configure handling from jupp
 - rely on dh_strip
 - quell some compiler warnings to focus on actual bugs (for now)
 - do not “compile a file without optimisation because it’s slow”
   * Refresh all patches; introduce compiler warning fix patch
   * Fix “debian/rules clean”

A powerful package manager for Linux and other Unix systems that
makes package management reliable and reproducible. Nix provides
atomic upgrades and rollbacks, side-by-side installation of
multiple
versions of a package, multi-user package management and easy
setup of

 build environments.

I personally use it to install software that is not part of Debian
or

software that I need in a newer version.

My packaging efforts can be found here [1].

I am looking for a sponsor.

Have you made any progress on this?
I discovered the package manager today and I think it would be
great to

 have it in Debian.

Regarding getting nix included into Debian, no. First this [1] must be
solved. But the packaging itself should work, you can build a Debian
package yourself by cloning the repository [2] and following the
instructions in the README.

Thanks for the info Kai
1. I hope the PR finds a way into the upstream source code soon.
2. I dont need a deb use the package myself, installed from source
although helpful If I need to distribute with peers.

Package: kmp
Severity: wishlist

This is an audio and video player that uses pictures for navigation instead of
text to give children the ability to select their own music and videos to play
even before they're able to read. I coded it using Python and PyQT because I
gave my five year old daughter a linux box and there wasn't anything out there
to fill this niche.

It features album search by cover art, video search by thumbnail and plays
mp3s for audio and mov, mp4, mpeg and m4v videos. It plays the videos full
screen and allows pausing by hitting the spacebar or quitting the video by
hitting q. For audio, you can play and pause as well. In addition, when you
play a song, it searches the album info on wikipedia and, if you're old enough
to read, you can click browser to read it.

I tried to make it very simple and my daughter now uses it daily with no
problems. The Doudoulinux developers have expressed interest in putting the
kmp in their next major release, but I want to get it out to as wide an
audience as possible because there is nothing like it for children right now.

It is released under GPLv3 and you can get the source tarball (as well as
screenshots) from the Qt-apps.org page:
http://qt-apps.org/content/show.php?action=content=160528

or the development code from google code:
http://code.google.com/p/kids-media-player/

You can see a video demo of it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s3ETtIGw7I

I'd really appreciate it if someone could package this and it could be
included in Debian.

This module generates a hash for an installed npm package, useful for
salting

AVA for example caches precompiled test files. It generates a salt for its
cache based on the various packages that are used when compiling the test
 files.

package-hash can generate an appropriate hash based on the package location
(on disk) and the package.json file. This hash is salted with a hash
for the
 package-hash itself.

Description : Dns cache for Node.js

This Node.js module wraps the dns module methods and caches the
most used/most recent dns calls, to avoid the network delay and
 improve the performance.
 .
Every call to a dns method is first looked into the local cache,
in case of cache hit the value from cache is returned,
in case of cache miss the original dns call is made and the
return value is cached in the local cache.
 .
 Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.

This is required for node-yarnpkg, see ITP:
https://bugs.debian.org/843021

My intention is to package it within the JavaScript maintainers team.

The repo will be on salsa:
