It doesn't traverse subdiretories. I have set Norwegian as the default
language in language.conf and used copypage.pl for all the files in the
root folder so they aren't missing (not translated completely/commited
yet). If I then want to know the status for any of the other folders
check_trans.pl doesn't do it automatically - I have to call it for
each subdirectory:

# ./check_trans.pl
# ./check_trans.pl -s intro
Missing norwegian/intro/about.wml version 1.60
Missing norwegian/intro/cn.wml version 1.78
Missing norwegian/intro/free.wml version 1.19
[...]
# ./check_trans.pl -s international
Missing norwegian/international/Arabic.wml version 1.5
Missing norwegian/international/Bulgarian.wml version 1.11
Missing norwegian/international/Catalan/index.wml version 1.17
Missing norwegian/international/Croatian/index.wml version 1.4
[...]

Hans

PS! I can of course make a wrapper script around check_trans.pl that
calls it on every subfolder - not hard at all - I'm just surprised
that recursive parsing isn't the default.-

 It doesn't traverse subdiretories.

It should. It does for me. I have a script, running every night, that
does a

  check_trans.pl -Mdl

and I get the diffs for the complete tree. Something strange is going
on if it's not recurding for you.

I have set Norwegian as the default language in language.conf and
used copypage.pl for all the files in the root folder so they aren't
 missing (not translated completely/commited yet).

There used to be a Norwegian translation, so several files do have CVS
history even if they have been removed since due to their being
outdated. Before starting a completely new translation, you may want to
check out that version first.

Also, if you are reviving the Norwegian translation, you should have an
extra look at the files I have updated since the last Norwegian
translator went missing. Although I have lived in Norway for almost
nine years now, my Norwegian isn't perfect :-)

It should be committed now (it wasn't all that much work).

I still have to figure out the best way to replace old *.no.html files with
symlinks to *.nb.html, but that's secondary to you being able to continue
work on the translation for users (with proper locale settings) to see.

I'm very happy to hear that it should work recursively.

[Testing some more]

And suddenly it worked for me to! Believe me, I have tired
'./check_trans.pl -v' many times yesterday. I have no idea why it
suddenly worked - I have only run a cvs status, no update. First time
it worked recursively, it said that files that were up-to-date where
obsolete ... However, now it seems to work correctly.

I guess I'll have a very hard time reproducing this wrong behaviour
so I guess it's best forgotten about ...

OK, now this is done too - we had previously had it done in the other
direction, so it was easy to replace.

(I'm still a bit unhappy about it being a special case in Makefile.common,
but that's better than having to copypaste everything to
norwegian/Make.lang... There must be some reason we never converted all
our %. rules to use :: so that we can randomly tack on rules. If it was
possible, it would help several other languages.)

check_trans.pl - $translators{$name}{mailbody} not set

2008-08-29 Thread Hans F. Nordhaug
Hi!

What is it with me and check_trans.pl?

If I use the -m option to send e-mail I get an error because
$translators{$name}{mailbody} isn't set in the init_mails subroutine.
As far as I can see it's not set anywhere in the code or in the
translators database - is it my MIMNE::Lite package that is too old?
(The script doesn't require a particular version.)

Any hints are welcome.

ISTR each translation having its own. We could probably unify that on
www-master, though.

Yes, they all use the same data. We actually have Perl modules that dive
into ePerl code in WML templates and fetch the current language lists
(as well as other things) so such variables are only ever hardcoded once.

Re: vmware images of Debian on debian.org?

2008-08-29 Thread Franklin PIAT
Hi,

The debian-boot and/or debian-cd mailing-lists are probably more
suitable for your question. Since I had similar thought regarding
VirtualPC, I'll add my comments here.

Basically, the main problem is not to provide *once* an image. If Debian
were to provides VM images, those must be up to date (latest point
releases, etc).
So what you need is to setup some procedure to rebuild those images when a
there's a new point release.

On Wed, 2008-08-27 at 14:50 -0500, Lukasz Szybalski wrote:
I was wondering if debian.org has vmware image of Debian

Also, users will expects the usual variants :
 - Gnome, KDE, Xfce and minimal
 - i386 and amd64
 - for stable, testing and unstable
Then users will want VMWare, VirtualPC, qemu and VirtualBox images...

This probably means that you need to have a pre-seeding file to automate
those installations... Maybe we could also/just publish those
pre-seeding files (??).

This would be great thing for anybody that wanted to start using debian
right away, but didn't want to reinstall the whole os on their machine.
 Basically more users using Debian.

An alternative solution might be to use debian-live images (especially the
USB one ?)

If you still feel like working on it ( = do the job), I personally think
that's a good idea.

Typically it's three steps :
Step 1 : Build and provide one/some image(s) on your [ISP] server.
Step 2 : Provide the images as unofficial service (i.e .debian.net)
Step 3 : Those images actually prove to be useful, and become official*.

Franklin

*) becomes official... If the content is actually DFSG compatible, etc..

Debian WWW CVS commit by kreutzm: webwml/german/Bugs index.wml

2008-08-29 Thread Debian WWW CVS
CVSROOT:/cvs/webwml
Module name:webwml
Changes by: kreutzm 08/08/29 13:34:43

Modified files:
german/Bugs: index.wml

Log message:
*1.70: * Switch from the old-style pkgreport.cgi option selection to a
new
style which is present on the bottom of the pkgreport.cgi
itself.
*1.71: revert to using the common include file, which includes gobs of
HTML,
with translatable strings being gettextized; skipped excess
   define-tag'ing in pkgreport-opts.inc, it's not necessary
*1.72: these strings are fixed (and not translatable), put them in the
common
file... also, generate them from variables which can be bluntly
pasted
from active debbugs configuration on bugs.d.o
*1.73: expanded the explanatory sentence for in something that people
might
actually understand :) it should probably be moved to be above
both
columns, because it applies to the other search fields as well,
not just
   _fo_searchkey
*Minor fix (gender)
