problem while installing the debian linux
Hello sir/madam, With due respect, this is mohammad aehtesham malik, an post graduate student…. I had downloaded the debian linux from internet. Now the problem arrises as how to write that download into a dvd i.e. how to make debian linux installable…. I had write the linux into dvd using the nero software, but when I selects the first boot devices as cd-rom and starts installation…the installation will not get started….instead the OS present into the harddisk i.e. the windows xp will start booting…. Hi! As a first preparation for a possible move of the webwml repository to subversion or git, I have started to rewrite the perl scripts. I'm abstracting all VCS-related actions into a separate perl module, so that it will (hopefully) be easy to change whatever backend we use. In the process, I'll also clean up the scripts (which seems very overdue), and rewrite parts if necessary. Of course, this will probably introduce bugs, or break existing functionality. If you notice anything like that, please let me know. I'll try to fix any regressions asap. For Subversion I have a method that uses a trigger on the server to update the file revisions to the correct numbers. For git, it's apparently possible to predict the SHA revision hash, so there should be no issues there. I haven't really tested submodules that much, but we need to make sure that a sparse checkout of submodules work properly, since you most probably do need to have the superproject, English and your language checked out. Haven't tested with submodules neither myself, but I've heard that a master commit would be needed to merge the various submodule commits back. While this might be automated through some hooks propably, it still sounds fishy. From most people I rather have heard suggestions to stay away from submodules, but I don't want to outrule them completely. P.S.: Had done git-cvsimport -v -k -d :ext:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs/webwml -m -a webwml -C webwml.git You might want to try and create an authors file, to make the committer names look prettier. I thought of that, originally. But then, people changed email addresses over time, and it won't get a proper history. But at least adding full names to it should be possible, yes. P.P.S.: Yes, -k kills the keywords, but they aren't used by any scripts TTBOMK, are mostly cosmetic from what I can see. Indeed. We don't need them with Git. With CVS they can be useful if you do off-line updates, Git doesn't have that problem since you have full history even off-line. Yes. But, we won't be able to get an ID into a file. While this doesn't disturb us here, for other projects this might be problematic because questions like what version of that file are you using? aren't as easy to answer, and git-hash-object works only on unmodified files. Even then I'm not sure if there would be much speed benefit of doing it. Given when using a script for getting the diff and updating the header version it might only be a minor advantage anyway.
