Blender crashes before even getting started (segmentation fault).

I believe this has been or is being addressed in upstream mesa Git.

Crash occurs in R when using the rgl library (R's interface to opengl) -
if i zoom in the whole system freezes and doesn't recover.

Drawing wire objects with opengl (e.g. glutWireSphere), objects are
complete when they fill the viewport, when object is smaller than
viewport, some of the lines are missing.

None of the above problems occur when rendering is software only.

And none of it is likely related to the X driver, reassigning.

Also, please don't combine several issues in one report.

Bug#446372: random garbage lines on screen, especially on web browsing

2007-10-12 Thread Sergey Lapin
Subject: xserver-xorg-video-intel: random garbage lines on screen, especially
on web browsing
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.1.1-4
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***
A problem is with Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook E8110.
At least in xrandr-based dual-head random horizontal garbage lines
appear on screen, sometimes making web browsing and other graphical
tasks impossible to achieve. Most excessive effect is during
browsing of sites with both graphics and text, but also appears
during xterm work or just moving windows around. Very annoying.
Not reproducible with linux-image-2.6.21-2-686

Bug#446385: xserver-xorg: single mouse click registers as double click

2007-10-12 Thread Tom Epperly
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+2
Severity: normal

I just upgraded xserver-xorg to a new version, and now when I make a
single left mouse click from my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB
mouse it registers as a double click. This behavior occurs in all my
applications and gnome-panel menus.

It also occurs when I click the left mouse button Dell Latitude D410's
builtin touch pad.

By the way, my system sometimes freezes when I logout without shutting
down. The screen goes mostly back. There are some blocks of gray
towards the bottom of the screen. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-Del,
Alt-F1, etc. don't have any effect.

Can you catch a backtrace in gdb? Assuming the problem is in
libgl1-mesa-dri as Michel said, you might want to install
libgl1-mesa-dri-dbg, and enter 'bt full' in gdb once the crash occurred.

Bug#446345: xserver-xorg-video-ati: console crammed into upper part of screen when switching from X

2007-10-12 Thread Marcus Better
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: 1:6.7.195-2
Severity: normal

When switching from X to a virtual console (vesafb), the console
output is visible only in the upper quarter or so of the screen. The
rest still shows the X session. Switching back to X restores the X
session correctly. This was definitely working in the version in
unstable, and probably in some of the earlier experimental packages
too.

I have a dual-head setup, and the shrunken console is visible on both
screens.

The system is an LG LE50 Express laptop with Radeon Xpress 200M,
kernel 2.6.23-rc9 (i386).

Bug#446385: xserver-xorg: single mouse click registers as double click

I just upgraded xserver-xorg to a new version, and now when I make a
single left mouse click from my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB
mouse it registers as a double click. This behavior occurs in all my
 applications and gnome-panel menus.

Your problem is due to these two mouse sections. Remove one of them,

I recently deleted all the xserver-xorg-video packages that weren't
compatible with what hardware I have installed. This included the -all
package. I then went through many cycles of apt-get update, and I still
ended up seeing this huge list of video cards I need to update, and the
re-instalation of the -all package. So, some dependencies are screwed
up.

It looks like a similar thing is happening with the -input side of
things, but since there aren't many input devices, I haven't paid much
attention.

Bug#446441: xserver-xorg debconf won't permit radeonhd

2007-10-12 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+2
Severity: normal

Since fglrx has been broken for quite a while, I decided to finally bite
the bullet and switch to radeonhd. (The ati drivers don't support my
ATI Mobility FireGL 5250 card.) Unfortunately, something is broken about
the xserver-xorg debconf prompting and it doesn't allow selection of the
radeonhd driver from experimental.

If the radeonhd driver from experimental isn't installed at all, the
behavior is exceedingly odd. Installing or dpkg-reconfiguring
xserver-xorg never prompts me for a video driver, and then bails out at
the end when trying to write xorg.conf saying that the debconf driver
option isn't set.

I ended up installing xserver-xorg-video-all, selecting vesa, letting
that write an xorg.conf, and then editing it to change the driver to
radeonhd, which then works (after working around the debconf bug for
selecting the default X server).

Bug#446442: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: wrong monitor sync values

2007-10-12 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd
Version: 0.0.1+git20071006-1
Severity: important

I'm not completely familiar with the breakdown of what components of the
server are responsible for what, so my apologies if I'm reporting this
against the wrong package.

When using the radeonhd driver, the X server correctly detects the sync
and refresh values for my monitor (which is actually a 15.4 TFT with
a native size of 1680x1050), but it then ignores them. The Xorg log file
has:

(II) RADEONHD(0): Monitor IBM-2887 connected to PANEL LCD1:
Bandwidth: 122MHz
Horizontal timing:
53.4 - 64.1kHz
Vertical timing:
50.1 - 60.1Hz
Allows reduced blanking.
Uses Fixed Modes.
Attached modes:
Modeline 1680x1050 122.00 1680 1712 1776 1904 1050 1051 1054 1066
-hsync -vsync
Modeline 1680x1050 101.67 1680 1712 1776 1904 1050 1051 1054 1066
-hsync -vsync

always, and those values are correct. But then, unless I have an explicit
HorizSync and VertRefresh configuration in the xorg.conf file, it then
goes on to show a:

(II) RADEONHD(0): Configured Monitor Generic Monitor:
Bandwidth: 0MHz

section with the default horizontal and vertical timing values, which are
of course way too low for this display resolution. The driver then fails
to find an eligible display, complaining that the horizontal sync is out
of range, and X fails to start.

I unfortunately don't still have the old log file with the broken values
(I spent the evening fighting with various things and now need to do other
work), but if you need the exact log output when there's no configuration
in the xorg.conf, let me know and I can reproduce it again.

The attached log file will show the correct values because I copied the
correct ranges into my xorg.conf.
