RE: [Declude.JunkMail] SpamChk.ini

2003-03-11 Thread Markus Gufler
Hi Adam

Attached is our current ini-file

Note: I've removed all our local negative keywords (some cities around
here, some dialect words that are never used in spam messages, short all
this keywords spammers can't know about.)

Note 2: We've set up decludes weighting system with a hold on 100
points. So also in this spamchk ini-file all the points are for a hold
on this value. If you use the standard 20 point weigthing system you
have to divide all points by 5.

Note 3: In one of the next releases of SpamChk we want to change the
handling of all the keywords. There will be some external files that
contains all the keywords for a certain section (subjectkeywords,
bodykeywords, rawkeywords, x-mailerkeywords...) and a certain weight.
This will allow to simplify the administration, and regulary updates
over the internet should be also possible. At the same time you can keep
your personal keyword-files.

Markus

[Declude.JunkMail] Good ISP?

2003-03-11 Thread Dan Patnode
I've decided, for moral and blacklist avoiding reasons to switch from XO, an ISP now
friendly to spammers. Are there many good ISP left that I can switch to? Below are
all the ISPs I've confirmed profesional spammers being hosted on with dedicated IPs.
Multiple entries indicate multiple spammers. Below that is Spam Haus' list. My
oppologies for mass mailing so much content, but I think it is valuable to the cause.
Please cut off the lists if replying:

Thanks!

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] DNS server returned server failure for

2003-03-11 Thread Dan Patnode
John,

I've been running around in circles chasing this problem. Basically its an error that
your DNS server doesn't understand well enough to give the correct code for. The
problem then is that Declude misses out on any kind of DNS test opportunity because as
Scott explains it, reacting to the failure itself would mean that a genuine failure
would cause FPs.

I would love a solution.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Good ISP?

2003-03-11 Thread John Tolmachoff
I am on Allegiance right now and noticed they are not listed in the list.

However, I am not sure if trying to find an ISP that does not have any
listing is going to be that effective.

Example. PacBell is listed, and they were our old ISP. While there IPs are
listed in 2 Spam databases, no one uses those because of their method of
listing.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Good ISP?

2003-03-11 Thread Dan Patnode
Should have figured there were ISPs on this list. Let me get more specific on needs
((please reply off list. Non ISPs, let me know if you want to see the results)):

We have our own servers and do hosting for ourselves and several hundred other
businesses and people. We need about 5U of space, so half rack or less is preferable.
2mb expected throughput. Please provide the following:

1) Space increments (Us/rack)

2) Speed increments

3) Physical location(s)

4) Price schedules (with breakdowns)

5) Up-time guarantee/SLA, relating to connectivity and power (AC)

6) Spammer hosting policy

Thanks!
Dan

[Declude.JunkMail] IMail problems with declude???

2003-03-11 Thread Michael Hardrick
New mail server with ~70 domains. Win2k SP3 and all updates.
IMail 7.14 running. The server and mail service with declude
has been running fine for 4 days and this morning it takes a dump.
The CPU is sitting at about 20% to 40% when it's running normal.

Here's one of the files it dropped into the root. There's another

This declude.gp1 file indicates an issue that is fixed in the latest
beta. However, it definitely should not cause any crashes or other
problems with the server (the E-mail should just be delivered without being
scanned).

I noticed it was being delivered, but not timely...
The mailq was getting extreamly full and taking a good amount
of time to process outgoing mail.

Tks,

[Declude.JunkMail] DomList Question - Verify my Sanity

2003-03-11 Thread Keith Johnson
Scott,
If we use the ROUTETO (fail Weight20) command with our Store and Forward
domains, the spamming domain will show up as a domain that sent mail OUT in my
domlist? I took a look today and I saw tons of domains in there with 1 or more emails
a piece and the only thing I could figure is the above scenario. Thanks for my sanity
check.

If it was routed to a domain that is not local, it would appear as outgoing
E-mail (the same thing will happen if you forward mail). It is because of
a quirk with the way that IMail records log file entries when E-mail is
delivered.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] savvis.net

2003-03-11 Thread Charles Frolick
I looked through those since I use Savvis as well and have been very
pleased. It looks like most where DNS servers serving spamvertised
domains, the first one was used to relay mail through a router in what
sounds like a bad router design, but is a webmail company who may not
have secured their server correctly. In short, doesn't seem like Savvis
is housing spammers, they always forward complaints and expect a
response promptly.

Thanks,

I have first hand experience with their zero tollerance policy. I'd be
curious to understand the source of that listing.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] DNS server returned server failure for

2003-03-11 Thread Eddie Pang
I have suffered from this also, so much so that I have even explored the use
of SimpleDNS without success thinking that this was a external DNS problem.
I was hoping that by bringing the DNS (as a DNS cache) locally to the mail
server did infact reduce the frequency of this error, unfortunately it did
not solve the occurance of this error.

Although this may not help, I am just laying out on the table my
observations for all to pounder over..
