after upgrade to 4.3.14 from 4.3.7

Last night at 8:11PM I upgraded from 4.3.7 to 4.3.14

From that point on we stopped catching all spam for these
clients that have their own mail server. We just filter their mail for
spam and pass it on.

I just reverted back to 4.3.7 and now we are catching spam
again for them

We catch over 4000 spam messages per dayfor one of
these clients alone so you can imagine their complaint this morning.

Anyone know what would have caused this?

Thank you

2006-09-29 Thread Kami Razvan

Harry..

In the upgrade there is a new feature that you can set
in the .cfg file.

OUTBOUNDSCANNINGSPAMONINBOUNDSCANNINGSPAMON

In declude.cfg add the following two lines and change
the outbound to on. The default in the example was off and if you are
forwarding messages then that can cause the problem. We ran into the same
problem and discovered what was going on.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Crisis after upgrade to 4.3.14 from 4.3.7

2006-09-29 Thread Franco Celli
It may be caused by the new directive in global.cfg available with
4.3.14
OUTBOUNDSCANNINGSPAM OFF

I don't use my server to forward to others server, but if I don't fail
Declude uses outbound actions when forwarding messages.

If that is the case just turn it ON (maybe remove it from cfg)

2006-09-29 Thread John Shacklett

Why wouldn't the defaults in the upgrade be to
mimic the current behavior? That's potentially a major change from trying to
maintain backwards compatibility, isn't it? If the upgrade is adding new
switches, then the default switch shouldn'tshouldn't radically alter the
status quo.

2006-09-29 Thread chris

BANCHARSET is a new directive, you add
this directive to your declude.cfg like noted below. You need to know the
character set in order to ban those that you determine unacceptable. A
new directory will be created in your spool where these messages will be
immediately quarantined. I hope this helps.

Obviously this

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Crisis after upgrade to 4.3.14 from 4.3.7

2006-09-29 Thread Scott Fisher

Blocking by character sets seems like a pretty dangerous proposition.

The beginning of many of these character sets is ASCII English characters.
So you can have an English message composed with the GB2312 character set.
I have an employee from Russia who regular receives Cyrillic (koi8-r)
emails.

I do see value in using the character set in a Declude Junkmail weighting
system if used carefully.

I am going to do the upgrade again this time putting the following
commands

in the cfg file: OUTBOUNDSCANNINGSPAM ON
INBOUNDSCANNINGSPAM ON Obviously this should not have happened and it was
unfortunate. I believe
Declude is getting a message ready for everyone. I will let you know the
results shortly to confirm that that was it Thanks for your responses

Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] Crisis after upgrade to 4.3.14 from 4.3.7
Last night at 8:11PM I upgraded from 4.3.7 to 4.3.14 From that point on
we stopped catching all spam for these clients that have
their own mail server. We just filter their mail for spam and pass it
on. I just reverted back to 4.3.7 and now we are catching spam again for
them We catch over 4000 spam messages per day for one of these clients
alone so
you can imagine their complaint this morning. Anyone know what would have
caused this? Thank you Harry Vanderzand inTown Internet Computer
