Re: [DUG] Delphi new versions

All I can say for now is buy software assurance - it is *really* worth it.

We have been planning on moving to the latest Delphi for some time but
there seems to always be something that comes up. We are (sometime in
the next month or so) going to a new Delphi.
After reading the Blog entries it seams CodeGear has aligned itself
with us once more (i.e. Win32 focused). Should we hold off, it does
take some time to setup a new Delphi version and it would suck if we
installed one version only to have to install another the next month :)

I know you probably cant say but is there perhaps a release schedule
available ?

Robert,

Does that mean new versions are about to be released?

Here is what Nick had to say on the newsgroups today:

quote

I see in the road map that there are 2 different Delphi releases for
2007. My pocket is not so deep so I will be buying only one release
this year.

I'd strongly recommend looking into Software Assurance.

We will update the Win32 side of things throughout the year.

Hi Jeremy

Yeah I suspect we will go the software assurance way. I was really just
looking at it from a perspective of updating (time consuming) and then
having to do so again shortly after.

Do you have a link for the road map?

No I don't sorry.

I believe an updated one is coming. It was shown briefly early January
(but it has since changed) at some conference in Europe.

The one shown didn't include the Spacely release.
