[libreoffice-design] Minutes from the UX/design meeting 2018-Oct-17

2018-10-17 Thread Heiko Tietze
Present: Cor, Muhammet, Heiko, (Thomas)

 * Backspace as the primary key for removing bullet points and tab indent
(Writer)
   + WFM, see c2,c3
+ it's required to press backspace twice to remove a list item
+ but we provide (ctrl+)shift+F12 which does the trick
+ support the request (Cor, c4)
+ would make shift+F12 obsolete and end up in some kind of regression as
certain
use cases from today are not supported anymore, ie. delete the bullet point
but keep the indentation for some subline text (Heiko, Muhammet)
=> will make some screenshots/exmaples and description of current / proposed
behavior (Cor)

 * Introduce UNO command to edit concordance file
   + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120404
+ Pro because of avoiding min. 4 steps to go and freedom/flexibility for
users
to use this in other UI places as the ToC dialog is the only place to do
now (Thomas)
+ there is no context where the concordance file is being edited (beyond the
global goal) and
editing is not the primary workflow (Heiko)
+ we better change the workflow completely in such way that "index entry" is
always gloing into a
"default" concordance file - and that is access with the current dialog
+ WFM, the function to edit the file is available in a dialog (Heiko, Cor,
Muhammet)
=> resolve as WF as long no clear workflow is there like "I open the file 5
times the day to do..."

 * FORMATTING: Ctrl+M does not clear language settings done as direct formatting
   + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79455
+ changed my mind and support the request (Heiko)
+ language is a special styles property as it doesnt affect the appearance
of the text (Cor)
+ Add a reset command in the statusbar's language chooser instead,
explanation see c38 (Thomas)
+ the statusbar offers "reset to default language" as tools > options >
language > selection > reset
=> keep current behavior because a) it's not a visual property, b) we have
options to reset to default, and
  c) restetting the langauge returns English as long users dont modify the
default style (tdf#35186)

 * Insert hyperlink dialog wont use text in highlighted cell as hyperlink text
(Calc)
   + Pro having the text prefilled: c0, c7, c9, c10
   + Con: c4
+ Corner case: c8 (solution could be c10)
+ Pro change, see c10, c14. Current behavior has no benefit for users.
(Thomas)
=> request is uspported by the design team

 * CONFIGURATION: paragraph style sheets in in wrong language when using wizard
   + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65259
+ take style properties from Default used in the local installation (Heiko,
Thomas)
+ Remove this wizard from non-US installations until regressions are fixed?
+ (seems to be a dupe of bug 75218) (Thomas)
   => resolved as dup

 * Persona categories are not actual categories (Options)
+ drop categories and provide search only (Heiko)
+ keep categories to offer some ideas where to start (Muhammet, Thomas, Cor)
=> go with a dropdown that lists all categories from Mozilla

I could see a Public Service Announcement from any/all of our TDF and

for "revenue generation".

Yes it would be nice, but until MS publishes a C++ API for "legacy" desktop
applications to manipulate theme applied colors this remains back burner.
Enhancement is open in BZ as tdf#118320

there.

Re: [libreoffice-design] New tool for compare files .odt

2018-10-17 Thread Regina Henschel

Hi,

 schrieb am 16-Oct-18 um 23:48:

Can you create tool for compare two files .odt ? Can you create tool which can in
tree view shows two folders with .odt files and mark indent files
? Thanks.

You need to specify, what "identical" means for you. Keep in mind, that
two files will likely differ in the meta data, in case they are handled
by LibreOffice. Only copy using your operating system keeps the meta
data. For finding such duplicates, I would look for a tool at level of OS.

To get a content comparison you can open one file and then use menu Edit
> Track Changes > Compare documents. It changes the opened document so,
that it equals the one, that you have chosen for comparison. The changes
are visible in the "Manage Changes" dialog. You can see what is
different. If the dialog is empty, the two documents are identical in
content. Do not worry about "changes the opened document". You need only
close it without saving to keep the original content.

Which problem do you want to solve with such a tool?

Kind regards
Regina

[libreoffice-design] Export all settings

2018-10-17 Thread 和尚蟹
Because LibreOffice does not have the function of "export all settings", it
is solved by the following method.

Add the "Export All Settings" button. When you press the button, the "Dialog
Window" will appear. In the "Dialog Window", the following content will be
displayed. Users can follow the following contents to All settings are set.

.
LibreOffice exports all settings
All LibreOffice settings are placed in the LibreOffice folder.

C:\Users←user. \a←When installing the operating system, enter the name.
\AppData←File Explorer~ "Hidden Project" will open to display the AppData
folder. \Roaming\LibreOffice

Back up the LibreOffice folder and reinstall it, then put the LibreOffice
folder in the original place.

Note:
1. If the preview version is installed, the name of the preview version is
LibreOfficeDev, so the LibreOfficeDev folder will be displayed.
2. The official version and the preview version can be installed together.
If the official version and the preview version are installed, the
LibreOffice folder and the LibreOfficeDev folder will be displayed.
3. To clear all settings, delete the LibreOffice folder. When you open the
program, a new LibreOffice folder will be created.

LibreOffice exports its own single toolbar
Toolbar=Toolbar

Common path
C:\Users←user. \a←When installing the operating system, enter the name.
\AppData←File Explorer~ "Hidden Project" will open to display the AppData
folder. \Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\config\soffice.cfg\modules\ Please take
the branch path of the individual software below.

Branch path
The \Startes\StartModule\toolbar\self-made "Start Screen" toolbar is placed
here.

The \writers\swriter\toolbar\ own "writer file" toolbar is placed here.

‪\modules\scalc\toolbar\Own the "calc spreadsheet" toolbar, which is placed
here.

‪\modules\simpress\toolbar\Own the "impress briefing" toolbar, which is
placed here.

‪\modules\sdraw\toolbar\Do your own "draw drawing" toolbar, all placed here.

‪\modules\smath\toolbar\Own the "math formula" toolbar, which is placed
here.

‪\modules\dbapp\toolbar\Own the "base database" toolbar, which is placed
here.

When backing up the file and reinstalling it, put the file in the original
place.

Note:
1. Because the toolbars you make, the default file names are all numbered,
so you need to open the file to know the name of the toolbar.
2, the previous file name "custom_toolbar_" can not be changed, the error
will be changed, the file name can be changed.
   For example: custom_toolbar_c01611ed.xml→custom_toolbar_I am my.xml.
3. A good list of tools can be copied to other places.
For example, the toolbar in the "writer file" can be copied to the "calc
spreadsheet".

LibreOffice's homemade punctuation toolbar
The first step starts the "recording macro function"
Tools\Options\Advanced\Enable the macro recording function (tick), so in the
"Tools\Macro", the "Logging Macro" option will appear.

The second step is to record the macro
Tools\Macro\Record Macros→Record Action (click “Ω” input symbol→select
symbol→insert)→stop recording→The name stored in “Module1” is Main→Modify
Main Name→Save.

Step 3 Add a new toolbar
Tools\Custom\Toolbar→『Add』→『Enter Name』 (eg punctuation) → OK, the new
toolbar will appear in the upper left.

Step 4 Add the macro to the new toolbar
Tools\Custom\Toolbar\Category\Macro\My Macro\Standard\Module1\Main→Click
“Main”→Join→Modify→Rename (can be named with punctuation)→OK→OK.

Interesting idea, to have a small plus or cross instead of the current points
to indicate the zoom level. This could probably solve one of the issues in
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107923. Otherwise please
file a separate ticket - we do our main work in Bugzilla.

Thanks for your proposal,

Because of the current grid, it is only a point to look at, so it will not be
