Re: [libreoffice-design] Block Diagrams Project

2020-03-03 Thread Heiko Tietze
Hi Marco,

happy to see your interest in LibreOffice. The more appropriate mailing list
when it comes to technical questions is the official developers list (see To).
Regarding your questions, you got the tip to look at the wiki. GSoC is all
about code. So yes, you have to "edit" the LibreOffice sources. There are
plenty of option to write C++ code from vi/emacs/nano to Eclipse/Visual
Studio/QtDeveloper. All you need to know is on the wiki, if you have this in
mind with "resources", check out https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development
Of course you are also welcome to start with easier tasks to get familiar with
one of the largest open source projects. Don't hesitate to ask for help.

Cheers,
Heiko

I'm for have more presets in core (3x9) instead of less (3x4) cause it's
not so easy make/find good presets and if you have a look at other office
suites they offer way more presets than we. Also I think the presets from
the bug report are good quality.

[libreoffice-design] Branding v7

2020-03-03 Thread Heiko Tietze
Hi all,

this is the second [1] call for participation in branding of the upcoming
release. Meanwhile we have a ticket [2] with some very cool proposals. What we
need is a consolidated set of artwork for

* splash screen (currently 661 x 169, 8-bit/color RGBA, interlaced)
* image on top of the about box (currently 810 x 133) and optionally the
background of the about box (currently 648 x 667)
* image used for the Windows installer progress (PC bitmap, Windows 95/NT4 and
newer format, 632 x 57 x 8) and the first page (Windows BMP image 162 x 312)
* image for macOS package (PNG image data, 550 x 443, 8-bit/color RGBA,
non-interlaced)

Please share your ideas anywhere such as TDF's Nextcloud instance and point to
it on this thread. Or use the Bugzilla ticket.

Let's make the seven shine.

Heiko

[libreoffice-design] Agenda for the design/UX meeting 2020-MAR-04 (WED)

2020-03-03 Thread Heiko Tietze
Hello all,

the next design/UX meeting is on Wednesday, Mar/04,
20:00 Berlin/CET/GMT+1 resp. 7pm UTC.

Here is the agenda:

 * Make Styles command (icon) on toolbar toggle the Styles Window (like F11
does)
+ toggle on/off is not switching from any other tab
+ many very similar commands, confusing for users

 * 'Slide Design' dialog: rename check 'Exchange background page' to "Apply
slide master to all slides"

 * Improve listing of (table) styles
   + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130953
+ some ideas: styles from the current document in italic, with an icon
up-front...

 * Navigate document content when selection is made in the Navigator
   + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131063
+ single or double click for default action (go-to)

 * Area Fill update presets
+ which pattern and how many, see c7f.

 * Bringing uniformity to styles shortcuts
   + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98333
+ final decision would be good; either WF or green light
+ -1 to any major change of shortcuts unless tdf#123768 is done

 * Find and Find-&-Replace need character auto-replacement to support string
searches and replacements
   + https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91030
+ search also for auto-replacements when looking for something like an
apostrophe or WF

Full pad including backlog is here:
https://pad.documentfoundation.org/p/design

Hope to see you on Jitsi at https://jitsi.documentfoundation.org/design

Cheers,
Heiko
