Documentation is important indeed..

Hence it's great that you (& others with business experience) are on
this list :)

Indeed, to second Regina's point, most businesses working in a Windows
(and even on a Linux CIFS share in businesses where I've worked
previously) network environment have their templates stored in multiple
different folders for the various "activities" or "departments" of that
business, and not necessarily all on the same fileshare mountpoint. How
will the new template manager layout deal with such a business workflow
? And how will the Sales department know the difference from a
ReminderLetter template to that of the same name used by the Accounts
department ?

I think by creating a "category" with name for department or
group or use case.

Categories are just folders.
So there should be no change. Just the view is different.

Apart from that: if that solution fails, it would be _most_ _helpful_ if
people with different needs jump in _early_ when all work is discussed.
Not with RC3 :)

Sure, the concept is there for months, and we discussed this in each weeks
Design Hangout while Akshay was working on it.
So things that come up now can only go into 5.3, not 5.2.

The folders are shown as categories (on the top right), and you can filter by
category so that only templates from the selected category are shown.

Maybe there is some confusion about Template Manager and the Templates view in
the start center.
What I'm talking about is the Template Manager.

Sure, in fact, I don't particularly have an issue for myself, as long as
I can understand what is going on, and I personally actually quite like
the current UI design and functionality better than the previous
embodiment, so kudos to the GSOC project and developers for making it
happen. It just takes some getting used to and of course, a link
explaining how all of this now works would be most handy. If such a link
has already been provided, then fair enough.

This is what we have currently:
https://akkidevblog.wordpress.com/2016/07/23/redesigning-the-template-manager/

Akshay also promised to write something up to be included in the help.

But the question, why a feature, which is not finished till feature
freeze, is allowed to go into the branch, is valid as well.

Not to be misinterpreted, Akshay Deep does a great job, the new template
manager is a large improvement and I'm happy that it is included in 5.2.

Kind regards
Regina
