Ack, but that is not the issue. This issue is, that it is inconsistent that
only the keybindings are not configurable in
right click - Edit Current Profile...

but maybe the gnome devs have a good reason for this.

[Bug 52200] Can't start programs after resume from suspend/hibernate

2006-07-07 Thread Sebastian Breier
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 6.06.

Sometimes after resuming my laptop from suspend/hibernate, I can't start
any new programs, like gaim, xchat-gnome or something. I can't even open
the log out/shut down/suspend/hibernate window. On the other hand, I
can open new Firefox windows if Firefox was already running. I have to
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace out of xorg to get it to work again.

I believe this has something to do with unplugging the AC while the
laptop is suspended/hibernated, but I haven't figured out when exactly
it happens... sometimes after I resume the laptop and type in my
password to the screensaver, the laptop immediately goes to screensaver
again after showing the desktop for a second; I guess that might be the
reaction to the AC unplugging.

So far I haven't found a workaround, and I don't know what component is
responsible for this stuff (/etc/acpi or gnome-power-manager or
something else?), so I'm putting it here.

I'll try not to plug/unplug the AC while in suspend/hibernate for a
time, to get more info on this.

This is my video card: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics

So I can't fix it with that solution :(

Thanks!

[Bug 44078] Possible file descriptor leak in bonobo

2006-07-07 Thread Bernat Tallaferro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libbonobo2-0

Background: talking to the developer of mail-notify about a possible bug
on that application, he pointed out that the bug might rather come from
bonobo and added a link to a possible patch. I leave the investigation
to someone more knowledgeable than me, but for the moment, I thought I
should at least submit a bug report.

Here's my question to him:
quote
There is only a small problem, though. When you leave mail-notify running
and Evolution itself is not running, after a while it happens that
bonobo-based applications cannot be started anymore. That happens with
nautilus and epiphany, for example. Either killing the mail-notify running
process or deinstalling the software completely, seems to solve the problem.
The error shown is the following (when trying to start nautilus in this
 case):
/quote

And here's what he replied:

quote
This is very likely caused by a file descriptor leak bug in
bonobo-activation (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315650).

When Evolution is not running, Mail Notification is trying to contact
it every second. Because of the bonobo-activation bug, each contact
attempt causes the bonobo-activation-server process to leak out one
file descriptor. Eventually bonobo-activation-server exhausts all the
available file descriptors and bad things start to happen.

What I suggest: contact the libbonobo package maintainer for your
distribution and ask him to add the patch available in the bugzilla
entry I've mentioned above.
/quote

Thanks.

[Bug 26819] Re: Totem fails to play some files through smb

2006-07-07 Thread hackel
It doesn't matter. I explained that it's not a gnome-vfs problem.
Totem also crashes for me when I try to open
smb://eleanor/HardDrive/Firefly/Firefly - 01x01 - Serenity Pilot.avi
with the same error I described above. It's never even contacting the
smb server, it appears to be some kind of URL parsing error. If Alvaro
had his partition up, I'm sure gnomevfs-ls would work just fine for him,
as it does for me.
