Dangit... Now I am back to the original problem I had, ie when right
clicking on the top of the window frame to... say... move the window to
another desktop, both monitors cycle through all the desktops. This is
right after the upgrade to the -15 kernel and I didn't see the nvidia

And definitely no on the .gnomerc

[Bug 48289] Re: Gnome desktop screen is offset to the right by 1/2 Icon

2007-04-14 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi Martins,

Hmm, this is quite unusual. by chance have you searched in the xorg bug
tracker at http://freedesktop.org/ to see if someone has already
reported this upstream?

It couldn't hurt to try it with KDE. I'm going to bet it won't make a
difference, but sometimes KDE works differently than GNOME, so it could
be a useful data point. Let me know if you do this.

When I have some time I'll try to do some additional research into this
one. Seems quite odd.

[Bug 102769] Re: drawer does not retain sort order of items

2007-04-14 Thread Manni
Hi.

I'm using edgy with all the latest updates. The panel reports version
2.16.1, don't know whether the drawer has its own version number and how
to see it.

It seems that the sorting is constant and different from the one I'd
like to see.

I'm attaching a screenshot of some quick tests I did on my home PC (I
reported the bug from work, but I could easily replicate the behavior
from home). The upper drawer is the one I prepared manually. The lower
drawer is the one after the fist (and second) reboot.

[Bug 106511] Connecting to a share drive where only the password is set does not work

2007-04-14 Thread Huygens
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This bug is issued after some exchanges in the forum around the thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=393034

The problem is solved by using a work around. I'm opening a bug on the
normal procedure which fails.

Basically and to summarise the discussion, there is a shared folder on
the network which only requires a password (like in the 90s), no user
name is set. It is not possible to browse this network folder nor to
attach it locally (Connect to server) using Nautilus tools. However,
Samba is working properly. When using the Samba command line tools, it
is possible the browse the folder and up-/down-load files. Also,
manually mounting using the 'mount' command does work.

When using Nautilus, if a user name is specified or not in the Connect to
server window, there is always the same error coming up: 320GB couldn't be
found. Perhaps it has recently been deleted.
Note: 320GB is the name of the shared folder.

This problem could be related with Bug 98658
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/98658/), however
in our case, the Samba tools are working properly.

PS: reading the entire thread is perhaps not necessary, only the first
posts and the latest ones (page 3) are probably enough.

[Bug 99498] Re: Nautilus and hal can't umount usb hd disk

2007-04-14 Thread Enola Gay
I have the same problem with a usb harddisk which contains two partitions. The
only solution is to unmount both partitions in console or just plug off USB
which isn't a good idea. Could this please be fixed until Feisty release? I
think it is not a rare case that usb devices have two or more partitions.
I am using Ubuntu Feisty with latest updates.

[Bug 77739] Re: LCD brightness setting doesn't work with Sony Vaio VGN-S5M

Same question.

My little update on this point :
- the gnome-power-manager bug talked about here is corrected (and was not
related to my patch)
- my patches are still valid : I currently use them on a feisty install
regularly updated.
'/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/10-laptop-panel-mgmt-policy.fdi' is
kept in the updates, and I install diversions for

This doesn't look like a bug in alacarte. The .desktop/.directory file is
created correctly in $HOME/.local/share/applications or desktop-directories
when you rename an entry. However the change is not picked up by gnome-panel.
A recompiled gnome-panel without any patches doesn't have this bug.

[Bug 106519] Network settings contains a conflicting accelerator

2007-04-14 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Description of the problem:
The accelerator Alt-o is used on both the OK button and the configuration text
field inside the Settings for interface window of network-admin preventing
one from closing Settings for interface by pressing Alt-o.

Steps to reproduce:
(I have a wireless card. This may not occur with wired cards)
1. Run
sudo network-admin
2. Select Wireless Connection and click on Properties.
3. Notice how the OK button has an underlined O. Press Alt-o to trigger it.

Expected results:
Window to close (assuming network information has been filled correctly).

Actual results:
OK button becomes focused.

Additional information:
Repeatedly pressing Alt-o toggles focus between the Configuration text field
and the OK button.

[Bug 106530] copying my home-directory only copies a subset of files

[Bug 32466] Re: External disk trash not shown by trash applet

2007-04-14 Thread Enola Gay
Why make it such complicated like copying files to another partition. I
think Prompt for empty trash on unmount (Ubuntu: #12893) is a great
idea for removal medias. The only missing thing is that Gnome Trash
should show all MEDIA/.Trash-$USER files so that files could be cleared
on static medias too. I am pretty sure that KDE-Trash do this already.

Great idea but one problem. I am using ntfs-3g and gnome moves all removed
files to the usual trash position but since the NTFS partition is on my
internal hard disk and umounted only on shutdown I never got this trash clear
message. The trash directory consists 15 GB on my hard disk.
Afaik the KDE Trash searches every media for .Trash or something like that and
shows the stuff so it could be easily clear it. At least that should be
possible for static partitions in Gnome too.

The crash report says that the state of the process was D, which is
the only indication of what was going on that I can glean.

[Bug 95161] Re: feisty menu-editor - renaming just doesn't work

2007-04-14 Thread Holger Bauer
I'm sorry. Recompiling without patches doesn't fix it. Changing the LANG
to C however does.

I also noticed that removing X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain= from the .desktop
file in $HOME/.local/share/applications helps.

This also looks like a dupe of #85216

[Bug 106530] Re: copying my home-directory only copies a subset of files

2007-04-14 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Ok, having a directory which is owned by root (or !you) and has a mode
of 700 (ie. you can't access it) makes it fail. For me it was .aptitude,
all regular files made it prompt an error (you don't have access to
this file), so it should do the same for directories too.

** Summary changed:

- copying my home-directory only copies a subset of files
+ nautilus should show an error when trying to copy a directory with restricted
access

[Bug 104498] Re: Gnome-panel freezes after waking up from suspend

2007-04-14 Thread Ulrich Hobelmann
During normal system operation, of course.

I'm not sure how it is when wake-from-suspend freezes the applications,
but it can't really be a system problem (like ping, which would be
unrelated to the session). After all, restarting X (ctrl-alt-bs) and
logging in again works just fine, and all apps work again.
