[Bug 111606] Re: Totem does (mostly) not display video output on external monitor
I had a problem similar to this and turned out to be a permissions issue. Something to do with the external display. Try running Totem with sudo and see if the problem goes away. As noted in the bug description, this is an intermittant problem. Restarting nautilus fixed it for me. It makes no sense to reject a bug just because it's intermittant. [Bug 99858] Re: [nvidia-glx-new] Terminal will not successfully launch when SVideo is connected to TV
The more I think about it the more unsure I am of where to move this bug to. I'm going to try gnome-terminal to see what they make of it (perhaps its gnome-session related?) but I have speculatively changed the title in case it needs to be marked against the binary drivers. Setting back to unconfirmed. hardyn: Assuming your virtual terminals still work the following could be useful. 1. Switch to a virtual terminal by pressing ctrl-alt-f2. Log in to the terminal. 2. Type ps auxw | grep '[X]11R6' . This will show you which X servers your machine is running, Take note of the first number after /usr/X11R6/bin/X (e.g. :0 ) 3. Run the following: DISPLAY=:0 strace -o ~/gnome-terminal-strace.txt gnome-terminal Where :0 is the X display you wanted gnome-terminal to appear on. After ten seconds press ctrl-c . The above should make a file called gnome-terminal-strace.txt in your home directory and might be useful for tracking down the problem. ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: terminal = gnome-terminal Status: Needs Info = Unconfirmed -- [nvidia-glx-new] Terminal will not successfully launch when SVideo is connected to TV https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99858 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 115385] easier drag-and-drop
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: youtranslate Youtranslate is a great translating program, but there's a way that it could become much faster to use -which I understand is the whole point of the program-. When you select text from any source -web browser, text processor... whatever- to the youtranslate text field, currently it gets added to what you had previously written. Instead, it should REPLACE the existing text and translate the new text automatically. I'll give you an example: let's suppose I'm translating a Spanish piece of text from a webpage. I have just translated casa and I want to translate coche. -I have to select the text, right-click it and copy it. then I have to go to youtranslate, select the whole previous entry, right-click it and paste, then press the translate button. -With the proposed method, I'd just have to select the text and drag it to the text field. VoilĂ , much simpler. ** Affects: youtranslate (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Confirmed -- easier drag-and-drop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115385 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 115351] Total System Freeze - usually happens when using Firefox
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: firefox This usually happens every few days. I try to leave my computer on as much as possible but I find the whole system freezes after a day or maybe two. I have firefox, amarok, kopete, ktorrent and beryl running all the time. I find it happens when I use firefox, sometimes I might not be using it be it will still freeze. music, mouse and keyboard will all stop working - no keyboard or mouse response. The only solution is to hit the reset button. Perhaps I should remove firefox and try another browser? I love firefox though : ( ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Fri May 18 09:34:41 2007 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 7.04 Package: firefox 2.0.0.3+1-0ubuntu2 [modified: usr/share/firefox/icons/mozicon128.png] PackageArchitecture: i386 SourcePackage: firefox Uname: Linux syl-desktop 2.6.20-15-generic #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:36:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Needs Info -- Total System Freeze - usually happens when using Firefox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115351 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
