[Bug 218048] [NEW] File Roller wrongly deletes archive file

2008-04-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Using Hardy Heron beta with File Roller version 2.22.2:

Noticed this problem with self-created theme/extensions for Firefox and
any folder that has a @ in it (e.g. [EMAIL PROTECTED]). If the .jar file in
that folder is opened with File Roller and any folder/file within is
deleted, then the .jar file itself is deleted with a warning of: Could
not open (name.jar). File not found.

Reproducible always with any folder that has a @ in the name. File

[Bug 182038] Re: Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy]

2008-04-16 Thread Toltech
We have switched a system over from the nv to the proprietary nvidia
driver. Problems seems to have been solved. Another issue with the
desktop is that the screensavers were not working. In the preview they
were black and the open source nv driver. Now everything is working and
visible again.

Later today we will switch back again and see how the state of the
system for the open source nv driver is now

[Bug 128521] Re: GNOME applications delay to start

2008-04-16 Thread DaveC
I ran into the same problem on Ubuntu 7.10 / 64 bit ... looks like some
kind of funkified host lookup.

Note that it is considered very bad TCP/IP practice to put your own
hostname on 127.0.0.1 Ubuntu seems to do a hack and add a line for
127.0.1.1 to /etc/hosts, which I removed as being also non-canonical IP
networking - I put it back for now. I am planning to deploy a DNS server
on my home LAN which, I suspect, will tame it, but it would be good if
the developers removed this lookup from the code.

[Bug 211302] Re: [hardy] resume displays Policy timeout is not valid. Please wait a few seconds and try again

2008-04-16 Thread Gerv
Having looked at the code in gnome-power-manager, the first error in my
log file could be bogus. It looks like this error comes up if it
receives two commands too quickly (inside the timeout value). The first
suspend may have been initiated pretty quickly after the previous
resume, which is why the message appeared on suspend rather than resume.

It seems odd that the error comes up telling you to try again, but then
the suspend/resume succeeds anyway...

I'll let someone who knows what they are doing take it from here :-)

Matthew Tighe wrote:
 Is this fix going to make into Hardy or Hardy.1?

Unfortunately it won't, as this requires a new version of gtk-vnc which we won't
introduce at this stage.

 If not, I think you should simply remove it. It doesn't really work.

I'm sorry it doesn't work for this case, but it works for others. Also, you can
install xvncviewer on your own, so I don't think we should change it as it's now
the official GNOME client and we should give it a chance and support it.

For Intrepid, it will be much better and won't have any regressions compared to
xvncviewer.

[Bug 210405] Re: gnome terminal ~ replacement

2008-04-16 Thread Chris Smith
The problem I think is with this line in /etc/skel/.bashrc

case $TERM in
xterm*|rxvt*)
PROMPT_COMMAND+='; echo -ne \033]0;[EMAIL PROTECTED]: ${PWD/$HOME/~}\007'
;;
*)
;;
esac

Which I believe makes this a bug in bash, I managed to produce a fix:

case $TERM in
xterm*|rxvt*)
PROMPT_COMMAND+='; echo -ne \033]0;[EMAIL PROTECTED]: ; ([[ $PWD ==
$HOME || ${PWD:0:(( ${#HOME} + 1))} == $HOME/ ]]  echo ${PWD/$HOME/~}
|| echo $PWD); echo -ne \007'
;;
*)
;;
esac

There might be a better way but this works for me.

Taking my cue from the original reporter, here is a full log of

[Bug 39484] Re: cups smb printing backend no longer works

2008-04-16 Thread Steve Langasek
This bug is a segfault of the smb cups backend that was fixed in Ubuntu
6.06. Please do not use it as a generic dumping ground for reporting
issues with smb printing problems. In particular, Local authentication
certificate not found! is *not* an error message indicating the
presence of this bug.

socceroos, your log clearly shows that you are unable to authenticate to

bug at all but a configuration error.

[Bug 218136] [NEW] Error unmount mp3 player Creative Zen Stone Plus

2008-04-16 Thread aledin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

If I unmount the mp3 player Creative Zen Stone Plus clicking the device
icon in Gnome desktop appears a windows that says that is impossibile to
umount the volume STONE PLUS (but the device is really unmounted). I
think that the problem is a bug of Nautilus handling spaces in mount
points when it unmount devices: if I launch in console 'umount
/media/STONE PLUS' no error window appears.

Workaround. Create a file /etc/udev/rules.d/50-zen.rules ed add a line there
like this:
BUS==scsi, SYSFS{model}==ZEN_Stone_Plus_S, SYMLINK+=zen
Then, add a line in /etc/fstab:

[Bug 208524] Re: Gvfs ftp module doesn't display file whose name is longer than 42 characters

2008-04-16 Thread Saïvann Carignan
From bug #218010 :

Steps to reproduce:
1. Log into a FTP serveur with a FTP client like FileZilla
2. Create a file called test test test test test test test test.mp3
3. Open the FTP server in nautilus

Result : the file does not show in nautilus and trying to delete a
folder that contains such files fail.

This bug can be tested on this server :

ftp://leservicetechnique.com/
username : username
password : nothing

** Summary changed:

- Gvfs ftp module doesn't display file whose name is longer than 42 characters
+ Files on FTP with 6 spaces in filename don't list in Nautilus

** Description changed:

  I uploaded file to my freebox hard drive (it is a french set top box)
  But the file didn't display in nautilus while it does well in gftp or
anyother ftp client.

  With some tests i discovered that the file is not displayed if its name
  is longer than 42 characters.

  It is really easy to reproduce ... just open an ftp and rename a file in
  it to increase its length and the file will disappear from nautilus.

[Bug 193501] Re: [hardy] seahorse password dialog not always modal

2008-04-16 Thread Andrew Jorgensen
This ought to be a higher priority. It's a usability issue but because
it's a passphrase-related one it's really a security issue.  These
dialogs need to steal focus the way gksu does.

[Bug 217956] Re: totem depends on libtrackerclient (even when tracker is not installed)

2008-04-16 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Hi,
totem does not depend on libtrackerclient, only totem-plugins does (the 'local
search' plugin uses tracker to search for videos). Therefore, installing and
running totem should be possible without having anything tracker-related
installed.
