The new package worked here, but I had already done what Darik suggested in this message before, so current users with the problem could need to follow this steps to get the Inbox to update correctly. Thanks for fixing this bug! :-D On an offtopic note, I have to say that I notice Evolution faster dealing with IMAP accounts, I'm pleased with the new version. Re: [Bug 279059] Re: Evolution crashes connecting to an IMAP server which is temporarily unreachable
Unfortunately, I'm not able to reproduce this anymore. It happened when the mail server went offline and I got a no route to host message. Trying to reproduce this, putting my network connection down, I get an unknown host message, since Evolution is unable to resolve the dns name. I edited therefore the mail account, entering the IP address of the IMAP server in lieu of the dns name, so that I get again the no route to host message. However this was seen as a new server and Evolution rebuilt completely the mail database (creating a new mail folder: ~/.evolution/mail/imap/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ). The original mail database was converted to sqlite the first time I started Evolution 2.24, while the new one is from scratch in sqlite format. Since the bug no ever occurs, I guess that rebuilding the mail database fixed the problem. [Bug 225361] Re: Superuser cannot access ~/.gvfs folder when mounted
That (user others than the one who mounted the fs can't access it, including root) is not completely true. I have two systems (not connected to eachother), both running Ubuntu 8.04. On one of them I have one user, created during install, and member of sudoers. On this system I use a script that uses sudo rsync to create backups. I never get errors. On the other system I have three users, let's call them A, B and C. A was created during install, and is member of sudoers (and as such is comparable to the only user on the first system). Here I am using the same backup script, and here I always get permission denied errors accessing /home/A/.gvfs. I do NOT get errors when the script tries to access /home/B/.gvfs or /home/C/.gvfs! In fact, user A can do a sudo -i, and then cd to /home/B/.gvfs, but not cd to his own /home/A/.gvfs. Did a test with a different camera. It's a Panasonic (Lumix) DMC-FX3. Here I also receive a similar bug. If I plug it in I receive the following error: Error initialising the camera: 53: Could not claim camera The strange thing is, if I just click ok there and wait for about 3 minutes suddenly the normal Camera detect - What do you want to do dialog pops up, I can select F-Spot from there, it opens and start loading the pictures. Hello, Your video actually reveal two bugs: 1. the one you describe 2. weird behaviour when reducing the vertical size of the save dialog causing widgets disappear (because of minimum vertical size not set or something like this) My thoughts: 1. I think that's a wanted behaviour to minimize screen usage (think eeepc, netbooks with small screens, etc). If the user wants more options, let him expand, by by default don't clutter the screen. 2. [Bug 282224] [NEW] Sound recorder does not record stream - hardy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media I spent hours and hours going through forums and trying all kinds of settings to make default Gnome Sound Recorder to work. All other sound features are working great. This bug is extremely frustrating to me because I have to return to Windows to record audio - as soon as this bug is fixed I can format my windows xp hard drive. Steps to recreate the problem: 1. start playing an audio track or internet stream - same results with both 2. open sound recorder. 3. click the record button. 4. stop audio track. 5. stop recording. 6. play recording. I am expecting to hear the audio track - instead I am hearing a hiss. Next steps: 7. open alsamixer and turn everything up, turn on all capture. 8. repeat - still no recording - it is capturing a hiss only. more steps. 9. retry steps 1-6 recording in turn (using record from input dropdown options: pcm, synth, line-in, cd, microphone (with mic), mic boost (with mic). Result was the same, no recording, only a hiss. last thing I tried: 10. uninstall OSS and retry 1-9. No recording- hiss only. I am not sure what all I should print here, but I will try to put everything I can think of: Ubuntu 8.04 per modprobe, the soundcard module is: snd-cmipci. snd-cmipci matches what the ALSA project says is the driver for my soundcard. lspci -v (Soundcards): 04:03.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CM8738 (rev 10) Subsystem: C-Media Electronics Inc CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 18 I/O ports at 1000 [size=256] Capabilities: access denied 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Unknown device 0202 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 22 Memory at 501c (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: access denied aplay -l *** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices card 0: CMI8768 [C-Media CMI8768], device 0: CMI8738-MC8 [C-Media PCI DAC/ADC] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: CMI8768 [C-Media CMI8768], device 1: CMI8738-MC8 [C-Media PCI 2nd DAC] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: CMI8768 [C-Media CMI8768], device 2: CMI8738-MC8 [C-Media PCI IEC958] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Oct 12 07:36:24 2008 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-sound-recorder Package: gnome-media 2.22.0-0ubuntu3 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-media Uname: Linux 2.6.24-19-generic i686 ** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- Sound recorder does not record stream - hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282224 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution No new e-mails have appeared in Evolution E-mail since September 11, 2008, or thereabouts. To find my e-mail, I have to reboot in Windows Vista. I had to do this today to find the e-mail you sent me so I could complete my Launchpad registration. 1) Ubuntu 8.04 2) evolution 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 per Synaptic 3) I expected to see a list of my e-mail, including read and unread messages. 4) I saw no messages listed, although in the frame at the left side of the screen, I saw Inbox(3), indicating that I had 3 unread messages. The Send/Receive button on the toolbar was grayed out. Using the View menu, I managed today to see what was in my Inbox, but there was nothing past Sept. 11, not even the e-mail you sent me after I began the Launchpad registration process and tried again. [Bug 282257] [NEW] Can't write thankyou in Hindi!!!
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gucharmap The most common way to say thankyou in Hindi is something like shukriya. The correct spelling of this word is unusual, and I can not reproduce it with the character map. Moreover, * I could not find any electronic source that spells shukriya correctly * I could not generate the correct spelling with any software or websites I could find. I tried SCIM, http://www.iit.edu/~laksvij/language/hindi.html, Google translate, etc. They all either leave out this common word, or spell it incorrectly! * but, I am sure I have the correct spelling! Both the Oxford Hindi-English dictionary and Rupert Snell's Beginner's Hindi spell it the same way. Details: the kri in shukriya is spelled with ऋ adjoined with the i character. (Just like ki is ka (क) with -i to become कि.) This kri is shukriya is typically mispelled as कि. Usually, in the character map, I can select the main character (in this case ऋ) and then the -i character, and it forms the composite character. This works for क and all other consonants I tried. But it doesn't work for ऋ. It should! this bug gets worse! it seems, the bigger the mail accounts, the more often the problem occurs. i have ubuntu 8.04 installed on 4 machines (one is ubuntu eee 8.04, two are amd64 machines) and i get the problem on all of them. the problem occurs with pop3 and imap accounts. -- Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/175233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 21668] Re: evolution won't clear its cache
Same goes when you delete a bunch of messages to free some space the result is that you delete mails through evolution but you get no free space. Seems to be basic feature but it's still not there, lets cross our fingers for solution or at least a workaround. -- evolution won't clear its cache https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/21668 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
